      To be fair, this predates Injustice by almost 2 decades; and I think the logic behind Batman being okay with the death of Lex Luthor is because he knows that Lex is unapologetically, unrepentantly, WILLINGLY EVIL. With even the Joker, who has FAR greater potential and desire to torture people than Luthor... it's impossible to tell where the man ends and the acid begins; and that's what I think a lot of people don't realize with Batman. He may not want to kill anyone himself, but he's only truly passionate about people sparing the lives of those in his rogue's gallery; reason being? He knows they're all some degree of insane, and he's the only one capable of matching and beating that insanity. Because there's something else a lot of people don't realize: Bruce Wayne isn't a vigilante who runs around as Batman to catch the bad guys that the police won't or can't. Batman is a pacifistic sociopath who occasionally poses as a well-adjusted Bruce Wayne, and rights the wrong that led to his creation. Take away the pacifism, and what do you have left?
      Batman knows the cops have every right to fear who he could become; and Justice Lord Batman shows this off perfectly.
      EDIT: As for Wonder Woman, she was merely shocked that Superman would even stoop to that.

      _ Lex didn't just killed the Flash, he started WW3 & kill 1 billion as the president of USA. That what broke Superman & the Justice Lord, the people gave(voted for) a known villain the power he need to commit one atrocity after another. So the JL took their ability to choose
      _ The JL has never have a problem with the death penalty because it was the will of the people. The JL only help, it's the people that has to decide their own fate. But this choice broke the JL
      _ Also the Wonder Woman in Injustice isn't the normal Wonder Woman. In her backstory, she killed Steve Trevor because he betrayed her, which gave her a negative outlook on the outside world

      Sounds unlikely that the Guardians are averse to stronger rule of law.
      Singapore for example, has harsher rule of law... And thus everyone's lives are better.
      As Justice Lords' Batman says... "We created a world where no 8 yo boy will ever lose his parents because of some punk with a gun."
      Which sounds a little unrealistic, but significantly reducing crime is still worth it.
      More so, because it allows people within the country to trust each other better.

    • @AndreiPopescu
      @AndreiPopescu 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Leto2ndAtreides Strict countries also have a strict control over what is published, so the numbers may not be real. People who commit crimes usually don't think of the consequences so I doubt that harsher punishments would have a big effect on preventing crime.
      What the Justice Lords did is replace an 8 year old boy losing his parents because of a punk with a gun with an 8 year old boy losing his parents because of a restaurant bill. They are no better than most of the criminals the Justice League fights.

    INJUSTICE Superman and LORD Superman have two very different starts of darkness:
    LORD - killing Lex Luthor, a president of USA who thanks to his mental breakdown threatened with nukes in the brink of the war that could destroy the whole planet he is responsible for in the first place... oh, and he KILLED Flash
    INJUSTICE - killing the Joker, who had Clark's wife, unborn child, his pal Jimmy and WHOLE Metropolis killed with few heroes stationed there like Kid Flash, Beast Boy and Steel, and threatened with plans to top his deed

  • @leyrua
    @leyrua 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +30

    I enjoy deconstructions of the idea that superheroes should NEVER kill. Superman's mistake here wasn't the act of killing Lex... it was that he lacked the strength of character to keep it together AFTER he crossed that line.
    I remember reading a webnovel where the superheroes had an unbreakable no-killing rule, but after a nemesis escaped YET AGAIN and killed a friend's daughter, the civilian protagonist was done with watching the injustice, and ended up becoming a supervillain with a suspiciously high "collateral damage" headcount when it came to villains he teamed up with. He always succeeded at the mission, but whoever got assigned to work with him always died.
    The best part? One of the highest ranking villains he worked under was an oracle who was all but omniscient. It's pretty strongly implied that she knew what he was up to, and decided to use him to "clean house" by assigning troublemakers as his partners.
    I think the heroes named him "Death-Face", which was supposed to be a stupid moniker, but retroactively became terrifying when he lived up to it.

      I rather disagree with that notion of "no killing rule" There are situations that unfortunately people make dumb moves and get themselves killed but having powers then you kill someone in the name of justice can corrupt people its not the matter of character its the matter of "If I can do this then whoever I can kill must mean its a good thing" Superhumans strive to not kill unless its absolutely necessary if you have the ability to use non lethal then you should its what separates villains from heroes well one of them anyways

      There is a reason why Superman and Batman state that it is a line to cross. If they won’t murder, then they cooperate with a villain.
      It backfire on the JL in the long run as an exchange for a pardon, the Justice Lord information is debriefed which ultimately create Cadmus. As Justice Lord Superman blames Superman that freeing Luthor would be disastrous.

    Fun fact: This two part episode was inspired by the three part issue of 2003's Superman The Red Son. Towards the end of Superman The Red Son, Lex Luther leaves an envelope ✉️ for Superman with a small letter inside. The letter states "Why don't you just put the whole world in a bottle, Superman?" Reminded of his failure to save Stalingrad and aware that his actions have made him as much of a monster as Brainiac. Realizing he has meddled in affairs that he had no place in".

    It's simple:
    This episode, Gods Among Us Superman killed Luthor by killing Flash. In Batman's book, it's his villian. He let Superman decide what will happen.
    Superman feels great then rules the world (not universe), even OA never argues with it, Batman gets along assuming the one in the group that has a moral code can easily change the playing field and the outcome Batman sees had it benefits like when this dark Batman and the other Batman driving in the batmobile and there is a fight in a restaurant, there was a commotion. And as the two just paases by the fight stops when they see the dark Batman and people just follow the law in what this world turn in to.
    In the Injustice game Superman killed Joker by manipulating him to kill Louis and Metropolis. Batman disagrees in what he has done because Joker is his problem and in his book, anyone can be save without killing. The reason why Batman doesn't want metahuman roaming around Gotham.
    And another one like in the comic, Joker was killed by Batman by snapping his neck ang turned himself in to Commissioner Gordon, both Batman and Bruce Wayne. In his book, murder is murder, crime is a crime. The law is the law.
    Get the picture?
