I honestly think the beauty of the "I don't wanna go. I don't wanna go" scene is that IT REALLY IS SOMETHING A KID WOULD SAY WHEN THEY ARE "DYING". I think it really shows that despite all his amazing capabilties, Peter was still just a kid, and was terrified. Also Tom Holland played it so convincingly that I cry every time I see that scene.

I think something people don’t seem to realise is that “improvised” doesn’t mean they just do one take and move on to the next scene. If a line is improvised in a take and it goes over well, but maybe the lighting wasn’t perfect or the response to the improv from the other actor wasn’t perfect, they’ll film the scene again with the improvised line added.

So, Iron Man being ‘fully improvised’ actually means they went on set without a script each day, improvised the scene a bit and wrote down what they wanted to say, and then showed that to Marvel for clearance before they could even shoot. Some other projects, like sitcoms for example have fully improvised moments. Like one of my favs Parks and Recreation - many of those classic Chris Pratt lines, what you’re seeing on camera is genuinely the first time it was said. And each time the director says, “action”, Chris Pratt would have a different line up his sleeve to try. Or a different physical action. Although, sometimes an actor could come up with these ideas while doing work on the script so they know what they’re going to say before the shoot date. And depending on the director, they might have the green light to just add random lines in during takes, or they might have to ask for specific permission to add the line in. But of course, both Marvel movies and sitcoms have moments of ‘fake’ improvisation and moments of real improv. Don’t know why I wrote so much lmao hopefully someone gets a kick out of it.
Iron Man 1 barley had a script, many of his lines were improvised. If you look at some of RDJ's interveiws etc you can see how much of himself he put into Tony Stark.

Zendaya is great at improv, too. According to Andrew Garfield, it was Zendaya's idea to throw bread at his Peter Parker to test his Peter "tingle," instead of grabbing a knife or a candlestick (something hard and dangerous) that the script called for. Andrew stated that Zendaya also made the scene he saves her in richer by gently asking if He was ok, after he asks her the same question.
One of my favourite unscripted moments is after the whole boat incident in Spider-Man Homecoming, when Tony is taking the suit from Spidey, he says Peter is fourteen and Peter corrects him, saying he's fifteen. Then Tony snaps "No this is where you zip it". It was so powerful and in character for both of them, I love it

1:15 actually in the interview she showed, he (Tom) explained that to make himself emotional, he usually says a phrase over and over again. So he just decided to say it out loud to make it even more emotional and then the directors used that and put it in the script. So it wasn’t so much as a one time thing, Tom more said it and then the shots taken after that were updated.

I think there are many people (myself included) who have never really read the comics and don't know much about them. It might be my relatively low age, but i love the movies and am not that interested in superhero comics. So for me everything is new, and thus the evil mysterio was a surprise.

Honestly contemporary films today thrive over improv. It maintains the quality concept of the films story from the actors perspective. A pen to pen script doesn't always match up with the scene at the time being (I realized during my times script writing), so it's safe to say improv is a very useful skill and asset, especially for the audience.

I think maybe Tom didn't initially understand why his line (@ 1:20) was so impactful, because of both his age and lack of some life experiences. Any parent with a young child, especially a middle schooler/high schooler, who saw this scene would likely have felt gutted. Yes, it may have been Tom repeating "I don't wanna go", but in truth it was like slowly watching the death of a young child...and likely imagining it as a child you personally know. It is heart wrenching to watch a teenager who is slowly die, whilst grappling with the realization that they will never get to experience all of the amazing things one does in adulthood (going to keep this post PG). To see this realization in his face, and watch it overcome his body posture. It's a lot. Well done Tom! Even if you didn't pick up on the impact this improv would have, it left very few dry eyes in the theater as all of the parents who brought their kids to see this movie had to watch you slowly fade into dust.

Honestly contemporary films today thrive over improv. It maintains the quality concept of the films story from the actors perspective. A pen to pen script doesn't always match up with the scene at the time being (I realized during my times script writing), so it's safe to say improv is a very useful skill and asset, especially for the audience.

It's situated right beside the Tower of London (which is where the bridge gets its name), a historic castle which was often used as a prison, and is where the Crown Jewels are kept.

I think maybe Tom didn't initially understand why his line (@ 1:20) was so impactful, because of both his age and lack of some life experiences. Any parent with a young child, especially a middle schooler/high schooler, who saw this scene would likely have felt gutted. Yes, it may have been Tom repeating "I don't wanna go", but in truth it was like slowly watching the death of a young child...and likely imagining it as a child you personally know. It is heart wrenching to watch a teenager who is slowly die, whilst grappling with the realization that they will never get to experience all of the amazing things one does in adulthood (going to keep this post PG). To see this realization in his face, and watch it overcome his body posture. It's a lot. Well done Tom! Even if you didn't pick up on the impact this improv would have, it left very few dry eyes in the theater as all of the parents who brought their kids to see this movie had to watch you slowly fade into dust.
