Da kann ich nicht glauben dass es Deutschen gibt, die koreanisch können und noch schwerer kann ich glauben dass es Koreaner gibt, die Deutsch können, denn meiner grossen Erfahrung nach, sogar Englisch fällt ihnen sehr schwer.

So as you said, these 3 years left, I will try my best to improve my korean level and do my best at university. I only have about 80% GPA throughout high school, do you think I still have a chance? I speak 4 languages fluently and 2 intermediate and I am very determined but my grades are making me doubt a lot.
You should definitely try applying anyway!! Of course the grades are very important because it is an academic scholarship. But you can show them that you study well with your language abilities! So try for sure ☺️

I have a question related to what you said in 11:15 about finding a place before coming to Korea. will the rent of the place be paid by the Scholarship or by the student himself?
I'm glad to hear it helped you. :) to your question: if you live outside the dormitory, you will have to pay your landlord for the rent yourself. however, you will be send the scholarship money every month, so you can use that to pay your rent. just keep in mind that your rent should not be too high, or the scholarship money might not be enough.

Thanks for this very informative video 언니! I am interested and have clear goals to apply for the scholarship next year and thankfully I have been learning korean for a year and I hope I could get a chance to pass for this scholarship. This would at least help me boost my application after I take TOPIK exam.

Hehehe i apply this year for GKS and I mentioned that my topik level is 1 hehehe, I hope my phd proposal and acceptance I got from one of professor at Seoul university of science and technology as well as 3.78 /4 gpa at master's degree would help me to get selected.
My preparation for GKS 2022 led me to your video! 😁 I really hope I can make it too. Thank you for this, it's really helpful! Also, Do you think I can include 3 recommendation letters? (2 academic, 1 from former minister of MCST if I I'd be able to reach him/his secretary through email --- because of Talk Talk Korea 2019 I was honored to meet him and I received a word of honor that if I need a recommendation letter in the future I could reach him 🙏)
My other choice would be applying for AMA plus (another scholarship dedicated to art majors 😀)
Hi Kat!😀 first I would say apply to ALL THE SCHOLARSHIPS! you never know how things turn out and it is always better to be able to turn down one scholarship than to end up with none 😭
also, if you ask NIIED straight out, they will probably say that 3 LoR are not allowed... at least that was the case for me back in 2017 😆 but the former MCST minister might very well have an academic title himself (doctorate or prof) so that would technically make him an academic advisor too..so checking that detail might be helpful. ;) and to be honest, if you can get such a letter, I would just sent it!! worst thing they could do is not read it, best thing is it helps you get the scholarship 😊

Elli, thanks, those tips are super helpful, I was just wondering if you could help me with some doubts, I want to apply for a specific masters degree that's only available at Seoul National University and I have heard that a good idea to improve your chances to get the scholarship is to email the professors of that degree, asking for an interview concerning projects they have developed. All this because they are the ones in charge of your acceptance, and it's more likely to get in if they already know you. What do you think about that? Do you have any more advice or tips for me?
Oh that sounds like an amazing idea! if you can get in contact with that professor and then mention him or her in your essay etc. that might get you many extra points! :)

you can definitely apply, but you should prepare an answer to why you want to change your major. they will probably ask that in the interview, so it's important to have a good reason. :)

Hi Elli, thank you for uploading such a helpful video. I am planning to apply this year and have started my writing on personal statement. I found your tips are very useful and figured out my essay is not there yet. I will certainly use you tips to improve my essay. However, I have several questions:
1. Do I have to receive an offer from university before applying KGSP? How long can I have between obtaining the scholarship and university acceptance?
2. How long did you need to prepare all documents?
3. Do they receive recommendation letters from former supervisors?
4. Did you take an english proficiency test?

2. all in all I think I needed about 3 full months to prepare everything.
3. I was told they only accept letters from academic advisors (professors), because it is an academic scholarship. :/
4. I did have a TOEIC score that I handed in and I'm sure it helped my application! :)
