  • Cardiotocography (CTG) is a test that uses ultrasound to track the baby's heart rate and the strength of the mother's contractions during pregnancy and childbirth. It is a continuous monitoring of the baby's heart rate and uterine contractions.
A normal CTG tracing shows a baseline heart rate of 110 to 160 beats per minute, with moderate variability and occasional accelerations. An abnormal CTG tracing may indicate that the baby is in distress and may need to be delivered immediately.
CTG is a valuable tool for monitoring fetal well-being. It is often used during high-risk pregnancies or during labor. It can also be used to assess the baby's response to medications or interventions.
