After I heard Celine Dion sing this song at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, I went searching for other covers of it. When I saw that Josh Groban had a version, I knew that it would be incredible. It is!
I'm so old that I can remember Edith Piaff swinging that incredible song. I researched her life story and found that she had a very tragic life but her music still lives on to some of us and for those who don't know her there's the wonderful Josh Groban and, of course, the incomparable Celine.
The Paris Olympics2024 brought me here. i am a Filipino and i don't speak and understand much French, but reading the English version, this song is so beautiful and full of heart!
Yes, it is such beautiful melody! Josh , of course, sings it masterfully, and yet wasn't it a joy to hear Celine pour all her soul into this song at the Olympics. She is battling such a horrible syndrome and has come so far against all odds. Thank you for your comment.

They dont speak english in France. I hope many people has faced that problem with the french people nowadays in the olympics. I like so much France. In my book, Josh is incomparable, but finally a deficiency comes to the surface: his French isn't totally authentic. Ah well, 98% perfect isn't too bad!
yes, the song is amazing, but this singer failed to sing it meaningfully, you can't hear any feeling and real mood, no one will cover EDITH PIAF, ONLY CELIN DEON CAN DO THAT AND WE ALL SEE IT IN THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE OLYMPIC GAMES.
I disagree, maybe your French is not up to the standard to appreciate his version. He is after all singing as a man and it is not meant to be a cover version of Piaf's song. If it were then perhaps he should form a tribute group, but it is not. The fact that you think that only Edith and Celine, both French native speakers, can sing the song well then you do not accept that native speakers of one language can sing in another. By not knowing that Celine is spelt with an 'e' at the end illustrates my point that you are not a French speaker but if you are then you need a lot more practice.
