Great no nonsense bikes. The black on black does have an advantage; unlike garish paint jobs, they age well. I've just treated my goth spec 2016 Spectral to some new bearings and a general refresh. Still going strong!
Yeah, hard to go wrong with full black. You can always jazz it up with shiney bits if you feel the need. Great to hear your Spectral is still going strong. I think lots of people assume Canyon cut corners with design details and QC but it always seems the opposite to me on review bikes
have you wrecked at all? I wanna get it but the only thing i’m scared of is cracking the carbon frame. granted I haven’t wrecked in like 2 years, but yk always gotta be careful I mean I hit double blacks, jump trails and everything
Interesting video thanks 👍 I’ve had an eye on the new Canyon’s but there seems to be some pretty’s hefty discounts on the Santa Cruz 5010 & Bronson’s at the moment, which do you think would be the best overall go to bike (mainly trails centres Cannock Llandegla) and the odd trip to Bike Park wales?
Have you watched my 5010 and Bronson videos? They should give you the more complete picture but in short the Canyon will feel a lot smoother and easier to ride than current generation Santa Cruz which are stiffer in frame and suspension feel. Great for really driving hard on the trail but if you want a more mellow all rounder I’d go Spectral. Lifetime warranty on Santa is a good deal though
Sorry but I'm curious about how tall are you? I'm 175cm with 82~83cm inseam. Do you think a medium (475mm reach) would fit me based on your experience?
The rear bit of the guard is an extended fender that was fitted to the bike already. Then I added the front half and legs of a Crud XL Guard that I’d snapped the back on in a crash. They work really well together
You definitely don’t get that warm fuzzy feeling of supporting a small brand. They’re all really good folks at Canyon (or maybe they just hide the scary ones) and in terms of frame feel this new Spectral is a really joyous piece of work. But yeah, wouldn’t have said about the previous one, that was much more ‘Kraftwerk’
Just before I watch the whole review you start off by saying the old Spectral was a bit dull. But I can only remember you raving about how good it was at everything the whole time you rode it.
Pretty sure I said something along the lines of it being so competent it was easy to miss how good it was. In retrospect that sounds like it was pretty dull and that’s definitely how I remember it. Spectral 125 I couldn’t see the point of as it was basically the same weight as the 150. Plus when I put a coil and a mullet wheel on it they asked to take them off even though it rode great that way. New one is a lot perkier that’s for sure.
@@GuyKesTV yeah okay fair point. I'm curious what you had in your little bag? Just because it almost seems like we might not need a bag with all the storage options this bike has. I'm looking forward to all the reviews on the Spectral! I'm worried to find out what the weight of the AL 6 will be... Do you know where the weight gain is on the CF 7? I know the KIS system weighs 100 and a bit grams
Rhythm fork is pretty chunky and EXO+ rear adds a bit. Those 1900 wheels are a LOT heavier than 1900g these days too. If I get time I’ll pull it apart and get a legit frame weight out of it. I’ll weight the KIS too as that looks like it might be more than 100g in reality.

Thanks for the advice, I’ve seen the 5010 and ridden one (didn’t really notice the lack of travel), will take a look at your Bronson video 👍
It can be changed to a suspension with greater travel 190mm?
@@emmanuelace3842 no, you need the Sender DH bike for that sort of travel
Have an izzo core one coming , but found this one on sale for 2699 it's $600 more than the Izzo but I think it is better all around
Izzo is a lighter faster pedal bike, but Canyon has more confidence on descents and park style riding for sure
It's a shame Canyon don't sell frame only options - I'd be all over one of these!
Yeah, I reckon this frame would fly as a separate option

Same dimensions as me, Canyon recommends small or medium depending on playfullness/stability
@@Andy-co6pnthanks!
His reviews for Bike Perfect list 180cm/5'11"
thanks@@ypsito
Can this run full 27.5 as well as 29? Just wondering about the bb height
The BB height would definitely be pretty low with 27.5 up front. Plus you'll steepen the angles up as well.
@@GuyKesTV thank you
Nice bike shame only one dealer in the uk!! It’s the only thing that puts me off getting one.. where is that front mudguard from?? Thanks

Ahh you look as comfortable as me catching air!
Too true Mike, I'm definitely 'a sweater not a jumper' as my mate Steve used to say
Status 140, spectral or Habit? goooo!!!
What riding are you into? And are you worried about smashing a carbon frame?
@@GuyKesTV trails, flat trails with many features and jump lines.
Canyon bikes are pretty good indeed... but they are souless, especially out of the box. If you're happy with that...
