My Cree girlfriend informed me, a dumb white guy, that the word “Eskimo” meant raw meat eaters. And that word isn’t, and never was, a compliment. The fact that Saskatchewan uses that word to name a sports team. The Edmonton.. Well, I just don’t like to use that word. And from what I know, many Cree don’t use the word anymore, because they know it was originally used in times of conflict between the two nations, and meant as an insult. I wish more people understood the history of what actuality happened in Canada, instead of being taught Colonial history. It would make Canada a better place.
How can there be a reconciliation when blame is placed on the Muskegowuk cree? How can the eeyou confirm this claim that Fort Albanians and moose Cree were the aggressors? We welcomed the Inuit during the TB epidemic in Moose factory for treatment.
