    I'm heading to Vic High Country in March with a group of us on big bikes (GS1250s etc.). Billy Goats Bluff is on my list of challenges. This was a great video as it shows how tough this track is to conquer. Well done.

    Ignorance is bliss they say.......top effort from you guy's. Amazing what is possible when you are fronted with the conditions. I'm looking forward to my own experience now. Happy riding.

    Now that I went to Billy Goat last weekend on a 250cc, I can appreciate how insanely mad you guys are!!!

    Well done guys. I have done that track a dozen times... in a 4WD. As a bike rider, there is no way I would attempt it. So hats off to you. You can say something most of us can't.. and to boot, you did it on big bikes, loaded and with the wrong tyres. Most that give advice may not have even done stuff as steep and rocky as this... although they will tell us they have done tougher!!! Thanks for sharing.

    Great determination with those giant bikes! Well done. I wanna try that on my DR (I upgraded from a R1200GS).

    One word. Tyres.
    I know people go on about rider skills, but in terrain like this you need tyres designed for the conditions. Motoz Tractionator at least.

    Top effort guys one of my all time favourite bike videos. Very entertaining
    Good to see the bikes being used for what they were meant for and that I am not the only one that has trouble with the sentence “it can not be done” though I am too much of a chicken to take an 1150 there with out conties or better.

    Good effort guys. Some simple things would have made it easier. Stand up and grip with the knees, not the hands, and steer with the body. As was said, keep the momentum up. Revs up too - where decent power lives. Use the clutch as Traction Control.

    NICE work, workout ! the 1100 and 1150gs /gsa is the coolest GS, but the 1150gsa is the heaviest GS of them all.

    6 hrs on a GS1200. 20 minutes on a GS800, KTM690 or DR650😬🏁🏁

    I love my GS Adventure but its not until you take them places like this that you realise how big the bastards are. Also, I have a set of Karoo 3's on mine now and they make a world of difference. You dont get quite as much feed back on road but happy to lose that for the gains on the dirt.

    Good effort. I too have done billygoats on a bike that wasnt cut out for it. I did it on a KTM 390 adventure with stock tyres and my experience was very similar to yours!

    A set of dual purpose tyres and you would have cruised up those hills. Trying to drive those big bastards up a hill with no grip looks like hard work, well done.

    Fantastic effort filming the big bikes on such a tough and technical track. It couldn't have been enjoyable.

  • @brettoliver2249
    @brettoliver2249 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Unfortunately, riding that slow on rocks will cause you to crash even if its on flat level ground, your trip up that hill would have been much easier if you had of increased your speed about 15klms per hour,

    Herne Spur and Billygoats bluff are a struggle in a 4x4 . I have done it on my xr400 and xr500 and many times in a 4wd, (it is still hard) It is still hard and not for the feint hearted. you have options. take Wombat spur to cynthia range track. This will avoid Herne Spur. It is still challenging on a bike coming down to Eaglevale river crossing but controllable. Billy Goats track, back up to the Moroka Rd is probably the most vicious track after herne Spur in Australia, Rocky, Knarkey, Steep, No runoffs, Dry and hot in summer (you cant go there in winter)

    Man you guys have balls the size of a bullock! I’ve been down Billy Goat in my land rover and it was hard going, but never would I attempt on a bike the size of a GS or without decent tyres and ground clearance, gotta top my hat to you all for a job well done, still never going to take my bike up or down that track 😂

    great piece of video, tenere seemed to be doing ok on that track or was it the rider?

    • @dirtpooradventures5297
      @dirtpooradventures5297  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Orhan Ayaz Mainly the rider I think. Although the Tenere seemed to get much better traction on the rocks. The GS struggled.

    • @brendoT7
      @brendoT7 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3
