Astra VXR Turbosmart Recirc Valve + 340LPH Fuel Pump Upgrade!

  • More mods for the VXR right before we can go get it mapped!
    Sound clips from 19:30 onwards!
    This time we're fitting a Sytec 340LPH fuel pump (no ASNU pumps in stock unfortunately) and a Turbosmart recirculating diverter valve / recirc / blow off valve. This seems to have fixed a boost leak from the standard recirc blowing open under boost, gave the car the torque it should've always had, and doubled my mpg!

    Remember doing the fuel pump on mine years ago in a heatwave I was rather high on fumes after finishing even with both doors and boot open

    Sytec is really good.
    I have in OPC1 too. 😏
    And bought for Zafira too and TurboSmart recirc and wastegate.:)
    But sounds another.
    Maybe because mines are 10psi setup has.

    I like the recirc valve sounds sick mines had the forge one with blue hybrid spring since it was built and forge actuator I think at some point maybe swap both for turbosmart

    I found removing those lock rings, albeit on a Mustang, is easier if you buy the correct tool and when it says drain the tank to 25% it's not optional, or you end up with fuel pouring out 😂

    Not so easy with the air conditioning pipes in the way and I can’t do it with one hand lol

      Heat shield is from Courtenay Sport! Worth mentioning though, if you already have a catch can mounted to the front of the strut tower they won't both fit without relocating the catch can.

      It's just had a standalone ECU conversion done now, should be going on the dyno today in fact. Will do a video on it all when I get it back!

    Do you have a sound clip of it before with the boost leak? My car keeps cutting boost and going into to limp mode whenever i use full throttle, it also has a loud hissing sound on partial throttle. The problem started after fitting a new recirc valce

      Probably not sorry, it was hard to pick up on video because the exhaust was so much louder than that noise.
      Sounds like you've definitely got a boost/vacuum leak though, could be a faulty recirc

      I’m having the exact same problem with my vxr, some days it will boost perfect other days I just have no boost at all, replaced recirc, actuator, boost sensor still no clue

      @miatabros5572 what codes do you have? Mine turned out to be who ever made the maf wire extension the wires where jumbled up so car was getting the wrong maf readings. Have you checked the actuator isn't banging into the clamp on the precat pipe? And have you checked for vac and boost leaks?

      @@jamiebrown5580 p1106 p0170 p0420, I do have an maf extension but I don’t think that’s the problem, I’ve made sure I’ve got enough clearance on the clamp for my exhaust and that’s it not hitting the actuator, I’ve replaced all vac lines, I’ve done a bcs delete

      ​@miatabros5572 have you set to much preload on your actuator? Your car will go into limp mode if it over boosts and would leave you with no boost. Just a thought

    you'd be better wi forge recirc bud them turbo smart spring are to stiff

      Once it's mapped with a 14psi wastegate spring the recirc is spot on mate, doesn't flutter as much now it makes more boost and pushes the recirc open quicker.
      Either way, it shouldn't shorten the life of a KO4, one of the VXR tuners say they have seen them blanked for years with no damage caused.

    Spent all that money on a giant cooler, all the other stuff and you’ve still got a standard inlet… get that changed before mapping and get some 630cc injectors and you’ll be good to go

      Are they really needed for 300hp mate?
      Will see what it makes after standalone conversion and mapping in a few weeks, no reason I can't fit that and injectors if needed in future and get the map tweaked I suppose 😅

      With what you have 300bhp should be in easy reach and the giant cooler will help keeping the inlet temp down while kicking its head in on track but cause its so big you could prob do with a k06 and go for a safe 320bhp. The huge cooler and a k04 might cause a bit of lag if running less than 20psi of boost but I run about 21 and mines fine

      If I put one of these fuel pumps in and 630cc injectors what other supporting mods will I need and what power should I be getting
