A simple melody sung with beauty of tone will always touch our hearts. Wonderful Eleanor Steber.
What a superb quality the unique Miss Steber brought to everything she sang! ⭐️⭐️⭐️Thank you for sharing this beautiful, soulful rendition! 🙏🍀
She is divine. It makes you cry
DIVINE!!!
What a charm, my God... I'm delighted.
Sublime !!
Some see this song as racist, but it tells the story of slave who gained his freedom and went to New York. He found things so bad that he wished he could he could return to the plantation. The song is an indictment of New York.
True faithful to confess to God!!!
When was is it recorded?
I don't have the exact date, but it is probably from 1952.
@@sopranietenori Thank you, I was also thinking to the 1950's.
A great artist, sen in this banal ballad. Her Nuits d'ere with Mitropolous has never been equalled, bot even by Regine Crespin.
It's not banal when she sings it with that perfect technique.
