    My client is not guilty of sexual assault because there's literally CCTV footage that show him working in office as usual meanwhile sexual assault happened in different location. The victim insist that my client is guilty of sexual assault, got mad at Judge and proceed to attacked the judge. So called victim dragged out from court room and judge decided that my client is not guilty of sexual assault.

    I worked in the courts in NSW a long time ago. A truck transporting beehives was overloaded (scales check the weight on most trucks). The drivers solicitor argued
    "He weighed the truck when he loaded and all the bees were flying. When he was checked they had all landed so it was heavier. He was rewarded with 556A dismissal (charge proved but dismissed due to exhonerating circumstance)
    The "exhonerating circumstances" were that the magistrate laughed for 10 minutes. 😅😅

    Not a lawyer, but a cop. Female victim found wearing one sock, spreadeagle on the floor, wig and false teeth beside her body (she was 24), stabbed multiple times. The man's wallet found on the floor between her legs helped identify a suspect. He claimed he went to the apartment to visit a girl who lived there. She wasn't there but her roommate was. According to him the roommate tried to seduce him, removing her clothes. He, being a virtuous young man, turned her down, and she flew at him in a rage with a knife, which he took away from her but, in continuing to attack him, she ran into it, killing herself. Blood matching hers was found on the inside of his pants. The District Attorney, summing up, commented "Seventeen stab wounds, front AND back! She must have had a TERRIBLE sense of direction!" Suspect representing himself, cross-examining the victim of a purse-snatching: "Did you get a good look at my face when I took your purse?"

You could visibly see ghe jurors get pissed at her, and not surprisingly, she lost. Her lawyer also knew it was bad when the jury sent out a note asking if they could make the entitled lady pay the building owner money even though he hadn’t asked for any.

    I actually have CRPS: complex regional pain syndrome. It’s horrific & many of us need memory foam beds because just the stitching in the mattress that causes divots become lines of fire on the affected area. I literally got a new bed with memory foam & that would lift my legs to help with swelling too. Both mattress & frame came to aprox 2k & my disability covered it completely cuz this disease is so messed up.
    This woman who wanted a 6k california king was just being greedy asking for a size to fit her bf. When the pain is bad a sheet moving a tiny bit from someone else breathing causes pain. She deserves to get the care she needs- but that doesn’t include making her bf comfy.

    Not a lawyer, but a witness - kind of. The case was between my parants and a tenant. My parents were terminating the rental contract due to home requirement due to me and my brother living with them in a 1 bedroom flat while the house that tenant was living in alone was a 5 bedroom house and she objected against that. Her argument was that my parents wouldn't be married and wouldn't have children all while my mother was sitting in the audience with my on her lap and my brother sitting next to her.
    Our lawyer decided to not only show the paperwork proving our existence - he called my mother up as a witness. She stated (obviously rightfully) that she is married to my father and introduced myself and my brother to the judge. Then she turned to the tenant and asked her whether she'd still would complain to her about the noise we'd be making while playing as if we wouldn't exist there would be no point in complaining. The judge then looked at his paperwork, laughed and just told us kids to never lie like that woman, cause if we'd lie we should at least not sue for compensation about noise caused by people who - according to our lies - wouldn't exist.
    He then dismessed her objection and her claims about compensation due to stress and health issues caused by loud noises - which already must have been on very thin legs as noise caused by small children is generally deemed to be accepted due to it being children). I also remember that the judge was pretty pissed for his time being wasted with such nonsense, but idk if anything more happened because of that.

  • @savannah4439
    @savannah4439 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    The bus accident story reminds me of the time my roommate got rear-ended by a cop car. Fortunately no one was hurt, but it was unequivocally the officer’s fault. The light was green as she was coming up on it, but there were cars in front of her that hadn’t started moving yet so she had to brake. The cop either wasn’t paying attention or hadn’t left a safe follow distance bc he ran into her. He then turned his lights on and they pulled into a parking lot to do whatever it is people do after getting in an accident. (My roommate said this was particularly awful bc the cop left his lights on so it looked like she had gotten pulled over for shenanigans on her end). I believe the cop car had dash cam footage so there was nothing ambiguous about fault for the accident, but it was such a headache bc she had to file an insurance claim with the city, which required all of these extra hoops to jump through (additional forms, getting her car evaluated by a particular shop, etc.) which was made even more confusing bc her car was registered out-of-state since we’re grad students and her car is technically owned by her father. The city dragged its feet so much that she kept having to ask her insurance company for extensions on the paperwork, and it ended up being such a hassle that she just paid to get her car fixed herself. Her car is older so it wasn’t too expensive, and her parents are wealthy so were able to foot the bill. She drives a sedan, and the cop car was a full-sized SUV with a grille on the front. I can’t imagine how much worse it would’ve been if she had been injured and there were hospital bills in the mix.

    Saw a defendant represent himself in a domestic violence case. Basically stalking with about a dozen violations of orders of protection. He argued that he doesn't love like a man, he loves totally irrationally... like a woman. The jury just laughed.
    The prosecutor was about 7 months pregnant. After the trial (he was OBVIOUSLY found guilty), she talked to the jury to debrief. They only wanted to know about the baby.

    Former prosecutor here. The defendant was charged with assaulting another guy with a motorcycle helmet after a verbal disagreement. He claimed he had been walking away from the victim and the victim then charged at him while yelling insults. He got scared because the victim was allegedly significantly taller and bigger and as he was spinning around to defend himself his arm (holding the helmet) accidentally swung and hit the victim. I immediately questioned him how it was possible to hit someone taller that is standing behind you, facing you and causing an injury IN THE BACK OF THE VICTIM‘S HEAD. It‘s anatomically impossible for the arm to accidentally swing that way. Immediately after that the defendant’s attorney still had the balls to request to dismiss the case. Funniest moment was the defendant’s face when the judge asked the defendant to stand next to the victim who turned out to be the same height and size and had a much more plausible story of being attacked.

Anyways last time we went out there he shared this story about how his former accountant was an idiot who had not taken care of the painters taxes for years and he owed over $2 million, half principal half interest. His lawyer, the best one on the island who delayed his retirement to take this case because he also like the artists paintings, recommended taking it to court and using the “dumb artists defense” whereby an artist cannot be expected to understand how normal people things like taxes work… the judge forgave the interest and told him to pay off the $1 million principal. Already know that some of yall wont believe this but yeah, the “dumb artists defense”, who would guessed thats a thing?

    Story 2: He has a point. The tickets had no value as every single one was a loser. It's not 300 dollars worth of tickets the guy stole, it's like a couple cents worth of useless paper/cardboard/plastic/whatever. Shouldn't have been counted as a felony if the crime wasn't violent.

    • @KaiHenningsen
      @KaiHenningsen 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      The argument is it's 300$ of lost income to who they stole it from. That is, 300$ is what they're worth to the seller, not to the buyer. But since it's the seller wanting the money, not the buyer, the value to the seller counts.
      Suppose you stole a new car and totaled it. It's now worth nothing. So you owe nothing, right? Nope, that's not how this works. You owe what the stuff was worth *before* you stole it - in the case of the tickets, what they could have been sold for.

Imagine that he has supported her all his life and she is leaving him for her long term lover just before the money arrives. Imagine that he has also already shared millions of dollars in inheritance that he received before he knew about the affair.
    Holocaust money might be terrible optics, but it's not legally different from any other settlement for something that happened before the marriage.
