Karenni people have had such a touching and lasting impact on my life in more ways than one and I'm truly grateful to have met such wonderful people. I am forever changed because of and would not be the person that I am today without them. They are such incredibly loving, nurturing, hardworking, intelligent, amazing people...I cannot stress that enough.
This was simultaneously a tragic and beautiful story. Tragic - that humans can remain so indifferent and abusive of others, but beautiful in the courage, grace, and intelligence of the Karenni people. We implore the Burmese people to stand up for justice and integrity, and free literally, their cousins... from this persecution. Meantime, may everyone see and tell tell this story.
I tried to show this to my principal he said it was useless.. I think this document should be brought up more in national TV so people could understand where we come from and why we suffer so much
@@AnsleySawyer that sounds great! but also I'm already doing a project about our history and culture😨 and thought about showing this document with it to high school students and maybe start a fundraising!
My boyfriend is Karen and everyday I'm learning something knew about where he comes from. Sometimes it's hard because our language is different.. luckily he's very in tune with his emotions, we rely on showing instead of telling. Getting to know him and people from his temple has been eye opening. Karen people are so beautiful. Never really knew where Myanmar was on the map, let alone the Karen region until I met my partner. Thank you for doing this documentary 🥲💙🌏
Hey, I'm so glad to know that you have an interest in learning about your boyfriend's cultural background! I'd just like to correct you that Karen and Karenni people are not the same people because we are culturally and linguistically different, although our lives in the camps were not so much different regarding the living conditions and oppression.
It’s heartbreaking when people call u Burmese. It’s not the same as calling people living in America an American people because they have their own language and culture 💗 We Are Karenni
It usually comes from ignorance. People just assume someone from Burma is Burmese. I know I did as a kid, because nobody told me otherwise. Then I learned the truth, and I'll never call our Karenni community Burmese again.

Thank you for this powerful documentary. I work with a Karenni student, and I wanted to understand more about her culture and where she came from.

This film is so beautiful and tragically sad. The long wait continues and never seems to end.
