Here’s a pro tip on measuring a center to center distance (as you did for the control arms): Don’t try to “eyeball” the center of the hole. Just measure from one edge of the hole to the same edge of the other hole.
Fortunately, you have several friends with the equipment and know-how to do the job. You should call Paul. He is the one with the eyecrometer. He can cut it, bend it, mold it, weld it and clearance it into shape. He will tune it and voice the exhaust to sing a beautiful melody. Also, Michelle can use some extra pocket change to pay for his speeding ticket!
Holly, I forgot to tell you that Walter is a man of my heart he doesn't wear pants either if you see me in pants it's below zero or cold enough to feel like zero. It's really nice watching you two work together and get to see more of Walter on the Bid Screen. Holly, I hope you get to feeling better. The bandsaw makes quick work of things. Nice singing Holly you should have been a star. Matt.
Hollie, as a pet parent and a gear head and fabricator I have had my pups in the shop many days and it's great having them there. Remember though they can't wear a welding helmet and they are just as easily blinded by the welding as we are. Maybe put him in the office when welding, my Shepard ,Mary, would leave the shop when I turned on the welder but not all of them know to do that.
He only looked at first due to the sound, but now he has no interest. In truth, he really doesn’t like the shop (yet). We’re still working on getting him used to being here throughout the day. Most of the time, we only do half days with him.
@@MischiefMakerTV not at all trying to put anyone down, just a PSA for all to read and think about. Love what you and Walter are doing with the channel. I personally don't think we get enough Walter. I new he was big but the time when y'all were building Nessie and Walter walked past it while it was bottomed out was great, he looked like the jolly green giant lmao 😂🤣😂🤣
A little suggestion when you are cutting square sections out like you did on the frame, is to drill the very corner then cut to drill hole, since square inside corners have a tendency to crack. If you look at the brackets sent to you from the manufacture all corners are round. 🦅❤😃😃
Thinking much the same ,but was also thinking that using a steel tube which would give better clearance for the arm and also be a flat touch spot if under load it flexes and bonds the chassis
This is going to take some serious skill for sure. Lots of crossmembers, link mounts and driveline to snake through AND it’s all gotta fit above the skid plate and play nice with those other components.
Good work Hollie. Glad to see you are making friends with the porta-band. One quick tip. When you start your tack welds. Scrape the ground clamp back and forth a bit to scrape through the paint, rust or dirt. It will help a lot to get the welds started.
I would say you ring Rudy because he is closer to you, But Paul from Fab Rats is an exhaust genius when it comes to putting one together out of just pipes...
I bet that it is Paul and his Rats! Looking good. I understand all the difficulties…. Frank-N-Schein is fighting the 5.7 Hemi with everything he has. He has been down a little longer than Mischief Maker….
Hollie, if you fill the head of your Allen head bolts with silicone sealant you only have to pick out the silicone and not dirt cemented in there. I do this on mining equipment I assemble.
Good morning Hollie I am glad to see Mischief Maker is almost done. I am looking forward to the video where you go on your test drive and go back out there rock crawling
Matt would be the closest, and he has a pipe bender and good custom fabrication skills. You probably just need one custom pipe to get to the new exhaust. Rudy is further away, and Paul is way further.
Everything is looking awesome! For the call, Matt would be the closest, but would not surprise me if Rudy or maybe even Paul. No matter who it is............I know they will get it done. Look forward to the next vid and thank you so much for sharing.

I recommend Amsoil gear lube I didn’t notice which transmission you got. I guess you got an automatic transmission they got great transmission fluid and grease for your tie, rod ends and stuff like that most likely will be an improvement over what is available locally not to say that there is another good stuff out there cause there sure is anyway it’s six in a row Jim from Kennerdell Pennsylvania, I have a 1991.5 dodge three-quarter ton give you three guesses with under the hood all right you have a good day mischief maker I’ve kept your first name is but I always like your jeep I seen you on mats towing and recovery. hey there. firstly thank you so much for watching the channel. secondly, that is where the I cut the old bracket off for the old upper link. This is why I love reading and getting back to comments because you guys could easily spot something I don't see. Have an awesome day and see you soon
TH-cam notifications are terrible 😅. Thanks for the reply and glad to hear it's nothing as hate to see you stuck on the trial if it could be avoided . Hope your happy and healthy and back is well on the mend take care 😊
Thanks! There are 3 reasons we didn’t just move the drag link under the high steer arm. 1) it was in that position 3 years ago and it was completely bound up at full droop, which is why we flipped it in the first place. 2) I didn’t want to spend any additional money replacing the arms and swapping to hem - especially when this setup has been so solid for this rig 3) when we did the flip 3 years ago we had to shorten the drag link to accommodate the switch to its new position by cutting .5” off each side of the aluminum rod. We could still do the flip with this rod, but I that would leave less than adequate engagement of the end forgings IMO - and, again, I didn’t want to purchase a longer rod.
Hiya Hollz!!! Nice to see ya!! Oh and Fergus Maestro!!! Yay!! He is damn cute! You possibly called Matt and TomTom? 👍🏻 Cant wait to see you drive MM outta there!! Woohoo Hollz!! 🍿🍿💥💥

Porta band every chance I get. Next up, wire wheels. Better at removing paint and rust without removing metal. You’ll enjoy the little wire spikes everywhere
As i hear your welding : your shieldgas is to high and wire to fast . Keep your gas the same as your wire thickness so if your wire is 1mm your using gas not exseed 1bar it will weld more easy

@@MischiefMakerTV We love ya' Hollie. So fortunate to lean towards off-road vehicle design and dedicated to creating a really fantastic fleet that just happens to be 10x more reliable than any Polaris or Can-Am!
Taking an inch off the trackbar bracket will change your geometry between the track bar angle and your drag link angle. Who's links? You should support the company that is in your state as well as have the best quality links in the business.
There are many amazing Utah based offroad companies and charitable organizations. Some of my favorites are ARTEC Industries (my skids, armor and miscellaneous mounts), Tom Woods (my drive shafts) and of course Tread Lightly (the org we raise funds for every year). My links came from a company called RPM steering in Arizona. I’m unaware of any companies that make custom aluminum links locally, so please feel free to pass one along as a suggestion. If I had chosen steel arms, I would have just made them myself. With regard to geometry, you can’t just use kits with zero customization on a rig like MischiefMaker. The reason I modified the frame side track bar bracket was to adjust the relationship between it and the drag link. If you care for the numbers, they are both parallel for the majority of their travel range (except the most extreme full bump and full droop) & they are within 2.5 inches of each other in overall length (the new track bar is almost 3” longer than the previous one).
Hollie while watching you were welding the new bracket on the front axle I noticed at time mark 13:36 in the video the bracket over the diff cover has a bad crack.
That bracket was actually chopped off using a sawzall. Walter removed it while I took a short break for a conference call and placed it back on to mess with me. When I tilted the axle to improve my position for welding it slid off and scared the absolute heck outta me 🤣🤣. Of course, he was laughing the whole time because I kept placing my welding pliers directly next to the bracket without noticing at all 😅
There was a massive crack on one of those brackets you were welding on the axle, wondering if you noticed that when you were welding the others or not? The close up shot next to the bracket looked like a big crack maybe not enough preheating?
Thats the old 3-link suspension bracket (which sat above the pumpkin). The new third link was the one you saw me burning in during that clip. I took a short break for a conference call and Walter cut that bracket off with a sawzall. He then decided to mess with me by putting it back in place 😁 It fell off at one point and scared me 🤣
I'm wondering if those tight tolerances on the pinch points disappear when the system gets broken-in. In other words, it looks like the rubbing issue might return.
You said at the end of the video after getting a few things taken care of you'd be ready to rock and roll, well it does sound like you'll be ready for rocks, but maybe you should try real hard not to roll !!
I wouldn’t do that on a trail rig like MM. Especially when moving to a new setup with a steering box relocation. Maybe in the future when I am certain on all measurements. Nessie is a different story… all 8 arms/joints are right hand thread for that exact reason.

All you notches are squared off when you cut them. You need to try to keep a radius in the corner. I see future cracks in those places.

Good work. Thorough. Why not move the drag link to under the high steer arm rather than on top? Avoid notching the frame that way.
