Anyone considering a C3 should watch this video as well of all your other videos. So many things can be fixed by the owners. It takes time, patience and the ability to learn. The front suspension has many zerk fittings, a big plus! Grease the clutch rod pivot points and shifter gates. Saves headaches down the road. Very nice.
Thank you for watching! DIY is the only way for me to afford having my C3s. Plus I know the job was done right. 😊👍🏻 Feel free to share my videos with other C3 Corvette enthusiasts. Lol 😆👍🏻
Big thanks from France 🙏 your videos are so helpful for us ! We repair c3 corvettes and I learn so many tips with you. We are just 28yo so we still have a lot to learn, but thanks to you we get better everyday 😁😁
Thank you so much for the kind comment and I am glad to hear my videos have been helpful. Thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻 Wishing you Happy Holidays and a great 2024.
GREAT overview on maintenance that all DIY'ers can accomplish. I'm really impressed on the way the wheels also turned out. Have a wonderful new year and looking forward to watching how the '81 progresses thru 2024... cheers!!
Well done your attention to detail makes your videos worth watching I just finish having a 4 post lift 8n stalled in my garage so I’ll be able to do the cleaning like you. My 72 will be done my spring
Great video as always . If you ever do a brake flush or a bleed that would be a great video as well being we all have trouble bleeding these brakes . At least I do lol
Thanks. Yes, I have one coming up (next month I think), where I do a brake system flush, then caliper bleeding, then a master cylinder bleed without removing it from the car-because I find it easier that way, and then a final caliper bleed. Didn’t really plan it that way but sometimes I like to share my screwups and shortcomings 😆👍🏻
2:54 why is the oil pan gasket looped outside the pan? Is for dipstick on either side of the pan? Gotta love Marvel Mystery oil. Good idea to replace the non matching tires. Great videos, I really enjoy them.
Really appreciate all the hard work and insights in your videos ! My 1980 is currently being sent out for a rear end replacement and I was wondering if you’ve ever had to deal with this either in your 76 or your 81 and what your experience and thoughts would be. My mechanic is also trying to talk me into fuel injection which I’m unsure of as even though the quadrajets and carbs are becoming a thing of the past, I still want to keep the originality to the car. Curious to see what you think and your thoughts. Thanks in advance :)
I've never had to deal with a C3 rear-end, other than for maintenance. As far as fuel injection is concerned, a friend of mine installed a Holley Sniper system and struggled for quite some time to get it running right. And the guy's a good mechanic. A fuel injection system is expensive, and you will have to install an electric fuel pump (inside the tank is highly recommended), a fuel pressure regulator, and who knows what else. I am well aware that carburetors are things of the past, but there are professionals out there that can rebuild a carb to better-than-new condition, so I don't see the benefit of spending several thousand dollars to risk creating new problems. Then again, I taught myself how to rebuild and do basic adjustments on Quadrajets, so I don't consider them a problem. I also think that a Quadrajet along with the factory air cleaner assembly looks so much better and correct. But that's just my opinion and I am no expert. Thank you for watching! 🙂👍🏻
I didn’t notice the first time I watched this and maybe you’ve caught it but it looked like the hose clamp on the power steering pump slipped way down the hose. Could be the angle of the camera but wanted to at least mention it
@@inell6 No. The whole system is clogged and the AIR pump had a few broken pieces, so I removed it and have it stored in boxes in case someone wants to have the parts rebuilt.
@@76vette Also, Maybe you could put the front or rear tires on the lift strategically for extra clearance and maybe place a couple of small stands under the ramps for that extra peaceful easy feeling. Thanks for sharing your cars and care with us! Merry Christmas!
@@Jabbernack I may try placing the lifts across instead of longways one of these days. That’s totally ok according to QuickJack as long as the car is balanced properly. Thank you for watching, and a Merry Christmas to you as well! 🎅🏼🎄🎁
These quick jacks are a life saver. I have the 7000T model and for having your car level or rotating tires these jacks are a definite DYIer requirement lol.

Thank you.. I am not a great mechanic so your videos are always very helpful to me . 👍

Awesome. Basic maintenance is a good place to start and grow from there. Thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻
Nice tour under your 81! Great solid car! Great to see you transform it from good to awesome! 👍 Have a Merry Christmas!

Yeah I have no idea as to why that gasket looks like that. 🤷🏻♂️ Thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻

Hmm… I’ll have to check it. Thanks! 😊👍🏻
So if I’m not mistaken you have 2 Vettes now. A 76 and 81. Do you plan on keeping both after the restoration?
Yes. Not sure if I’m going to keep the 81 though, but the more I work on it, the more I like it.
My 79 has all the smog equipment but I have no choice (California). Noticed your 81 has the same. Do you plan on keeping it on?

Flex hoses get clogged too in this cars just so you know
Kindly can you share the headlight switch link and if it's available on Amazon? I'm struggling to get it in Dubai 😢
1974-77 switch amzn.to/41zJFX7
1978-82 switch amzn.to/47dTdsj
However, they are not shipped by Amazon but by other vendors. Hope this helps. 😊👍🏻
Where do you purchase most of your c3 Vette parts?
Many vendors and always try to get the lowest price. If I need good used OEM parts, Corvette Generation. 😊👍🏻
Wouldn’t car ramps under the tires give a similar lift? I would add some pinned 6-Ton stands for waay too much overkill. But that lift looks
I guess so, but I need the car to be level and I like having two height settings. 😊👍🏻

You need a Dewalt battery operated grease gun and it would a lot easier on you, when you serviced your corvettes.
Yeah, a battery-powered grease gun would be nice 😊👍🏻
