I'm tired of coloring, bleaching, toner and all the rest. I'm going through the transition the natural way and will get a haircut at the six month mark. I'm 53 and have been coloring since my early 20's. I'm done with it all and just looking forward to the natural process of turning gray. For all the ladies out there going through the process I wish you luck and much happiness with your new silver look!!
It is so nice to see how God paintbrushes your hair. I think mine is beautiful after I transitioned and I had a great colorist. My hair was always professionally colored and it looked great but at some point the coloring starts aging you. The little lines on your face don’t match up with the color of someone in their 30s. I will never go back and even my stylist agrees that it was the best move ever.
I honestly love and respect every single woman who takes this road!! And they ALL look beautiful and more sincere. I went from long dark to pixie, I've been cutting it for the past 2 months, getting rid of the fake color, and I finally have my natural color!! To my surprise it is "salt and pepper". Love it. Now, I am letting it grow. Even though I look so different because of the drastic road I chose (that's just me), I don't feel like a different person but more true to myself, authentic. I stopped interfering with my natural aging process (I am 45) and it is definitely a freeing process of authenticity and acceptance. Also a detox of decades of color products. Loving every minute of it!
I had the last of my colour cut out a few weeks ago so now almost sure silver, and naturally quite curly. This morning a complete stranger stopped me in the supermarket to tell me how amazing my hair looks!! Just shows you it's worth it.
Hi, thank you for sharing your story. I am 75 and when I turned 70, that was my time to stop with coloring. As I did not have the patience to go through the growing out stage, I had my hairdresser bleach my hair as light as possible. At that time I had about an inch of gray showing and she took the bleach just up to that mark. Then I took a product called Manic Panic, Blue Steel, which is a toner and brushed it all, over. Then left on for 45 minutes. Then washed it out with cold water and behold.....my whole head was a silver gray with my own natural gray. As my hair grew out everything just blended together! Isn’t is funny that when we make a decision to change something, a job, a location etc....the first sentence that runs through our mind is “why didn’t I do this sooner!” The best of everything as you go forward on your journey!
3 years ago I let my roots grow out and then shaved it to 8mm and I've never looked back. It's now down to my bra strap and I have beautiful white streaks throughout my hair. I feel so free not coloring my hair anymore.
Can u plz tel me that when we stop dying our hair.is there any other product we use??can u explain.i mean im confused.i also want to stop coloring my hair.they all are golden brown with 50 percent of grey roots.im 35.
You’re gonna LOVE the color and the freedom! I’m 16 months in. The first 6 months were difficult (second guessing, catching the new color in various reflections) but by month 9 I loved the color and was SO ready to cut off the dye. I cut a little too short, and now I’m growing it out. I still have about 1 1/2 inches of dye left to cut off. I’ve set my expectations for 2 years to have the length I want AND all the dye cut off. 😄
You’re so brave. It’s looks great. I would leave it alone other than using the purple shampoo. It looks healthy and very unique. Just let it be now and don’t look for trouble.
If the Got2b is a semi or demi, it lays on the surface of the cuticle and doesn't enter deeply in. You can reapply it if you need to. I think taking time and working on the porosity of the hair before reapplying will help the hair receive color in a more uniform way. I agree..hanging with it to see what transpires is wise. Also, so glad you mentioned purple...the bluish ones can give green undertones when trying to cancel yellow. You helped folks miss an unwanted surprise. Different color conditioners have a different load of color in them..experimenting can turn up a favorite....if you cap with a plastic cap to trap body heat you can get a little extra conditioning and even a little more out of the color too. The Olaplex is a great addition and there are other treatments in the line you can use too. Also, coconut oil ( I buy at Grocery Outlet in the natural foods aisle)and a cap would smell fab and be a nice treat for scalp and hair. And skin too 😃
Your end result looks fabulous. Your hair texture is so beautiful! I’m 43 and have salt and pepper. I’ve been coloring my hair off and on for 30 years but didn’t see much grey til my early 40s. I hope more women off all ages embrace their natural hair color. Truth be told my own grey hair doesn’t bother me I just hate when other people point it out. I haven’t colored my hair in 2 months and playing around with the idea of doing a silver money piece. I think we all have the same fear that grey hair will age us but I think either way the right hairstyle, clothing and makeup I can rock it.
I'm 2 minutes into this video and all I can think is that I am her!! Tired of coloring my hair every 4 weeks (I'm 54). I need a change! I've been doing the curly girl method too and I'm getting bored with it. I think I'll mix it up a bit next time I visit my stylist. This year's been crappy and I want to do something fun and different just for me! Thank you for this video! You've given me the boost I needed to just go for it and accept and embrace the grace change. Age is just a number anyway!
I love it half way through, after 2 bleaches and color! You did a great job! The color is more suited for your skin coloring. You are very brave and it is gorgeous!
OMG I'm so happy you mentioned authenticity!!! I've also stopped coloring it for the same reason. I feel it's so fake... plus, the amount of plastic and harsh chemicals one uses... thank you for sharing your experience
It took me 2 years to get rid of my color. I got SO many compliments on it when I was transitioning. I love the freedom I have now with my OWN, God-given color. It was a journey, for sure. I have Curly hair, too.
Covid causing salons to close really helped me to finally let my natural hair come in and now 3 mos in am too am excited to see what it looks like. I already feel much more free and the feeling I have of not having to color every two weeks is great. I am toying with the idea of lighting my dyed hair a couple of shade then cutting it to my shoulders to lessen the demarcation line but who knows. Keep going, I am sure it will look great.
Celita G W yes, so Freeing not having to worry about coloring. It’s still a bit of an upkeep right now but looking forward to it all being grown out. Best of luck!!!
I am at same point as you and for same reason! Covid inspired me to go gray. Right now i feel like cutting it but feel i need a professional for that. For now a bun is my friend
This video helped me so much with my indecision and insecurity about my hair. I'm about to color mine silver to stop the constant battle against the gray. I'm 40 years old and started getting gray at 35. This is something I'm excited about as I feel exasperated with the current look and lack of enthusiasm I have with it now. However, I still am a bit anxious and also hoping I can do this successfully. Going to a salon is a horrifying experience for me and if I mess it up I'll probably just be stuck with it until I decide something else. Yes what a pain in the a** I am lol. Anyway I just wanted to thank you for sharing your experience. Wish me luck! ❤️🤞
Your hair looks amazing ❤ It looks so much better now! Ladies, let's embrace the grey 🎉 I'm celebrating my 49th birthday soon. I have brown hair going grey and decided that no more dye. It started to look orange so I bought blue dye, yes, the final dye, and mixed that with conditioner and left for 5 min. Orange gone, just letting the grey hair grow and just cut a bit every month. I want to look myself, to embrace the years, getting wiser and having all lessons of life learnt, having knowledge and inner power.
Same here. When we get a certain age in life, we do change, and it's natural. You are attractive, and have beautiful hair and a sweet spirit... Blessings !!!
I'm so glad I came across this video. You have the same curly hair as me. I'm 62 now and I hate coloring. My curls are so sad! I miss them. You've inspired me.. thank you❤
Absolutely stunning ❤️. I love how you gave all directions. I also have dark curly auburn hair so I am going your way. The transformation is just gorgeous! Even if you have different colors in there, who cares! 👍
I'm BLOWN AWAY by the SUPERB job you did. Girl you went from a 5 to a 10 loks wise with the great hair job. Its magnificient on you. I watxhed about 20 videos of people transitioning to grey hair and looked at thousands of grey hair images so I was expecting VERY little from your video but I am in AWE😮😂❤ BEST HAIR TEANSITION I've ever seen. You look absolutely beautiful 😍 ❤ Amazing job.
Hi Alissa, I attended one of your raw food teacher certs in Maine about 15 years ago. Fun to see you pop up on youtube and especially because at 55 I'm in the same boat with the coloring. Getting really tired of every 3 weeks doing roots, am seriously thinking of going all the way like you did. Thanks for the inspiration!
Wow. It turned out amazing. I just started my journey. 1 month without dye. My hair is a reddish brown so it’s going to look wild. Wish I was brave like you. 😍😘
I’ve let my hair go natural quite a few years ago, I absolutely love my grey hair! I will never dye it again, it’s empowering! Your hair turned out beautiful, you rock the grey and if I were you.....I’d let it be it’s true color, it suits you!
Wow....looks great! I love what you had to say in the beginning of the video....I feel EXACTLY the same way. Since the pandemic situation closed all the salons, I have let my grey come in and I'm liking it as well. I am a natural dark brunette. I am 60 and I think I am going to stop coloring my hair. My roots are pretty silver...my hair his long and straight. I work in healthcare, so I wear a mask and goggles all day long and my hair is pulled back....So...I am just going to let it grow out and pull it back until I can eventually cut off the light caramel colored highlights. I am not brave enough to bleach my hair, but I love the look you achieved. You look great! thanks for your inspiration!
I can so relate to having your wild wavy hair being a big part of your identity. I too have had big hair my whole life (was always told it was curly, but now realize it’s wavy with spirals and ringlets) and I’ve dyed it a dark red auburn for probably the last 10 years. At 53 years of age, I’ve decided it’s time to show off the authentic (grey) wavy mane that’s hiding under the dye. Wish me luck lol
The pandemic has really been a paradigm shift for me. I've wanted to go silver for a while and watched Deb Arndt's TH-cam channel a year ago and her method is to color only your part and when the gray underneath is long enough, change your part. March 9 was the last time my hair was colored at the salon and I've only been dying my part and some of the crown. Underneath the silver is coming in strong. I'm not skillful enough to do what you did. I really like the way your hair looks and it will blend nicely. Good luck and thanks.
Victoria Reggio oh yes I’ve heard of doing that. Interesting I would love to see that I’ve never really seen someone do that. I’m so happy I decided to do this you’re gonna love your hair!!
Same here! I haven't colored my hair since March 2020. I'll continue to grow it out but I had to do something about the dull white color so I got "Overtone Vibrant Silver" to tone the white to a silver. I LOVE IT! It's not permanent but it shimmers in the light. :-)
With your hair going to white, you might want to consider switching to a lighter, more grey/taupe brown for your eyebrow pencil. It really shocked me how different earth tones looked on me after I let my grey/white/silver come in, and I've started wearing far more bright colours than I used to when my hair was brown.
I've been at your stage three times now and ended up burning my hair off twice from over processing. Now for a third time my gray is grown out about an inch and a half with medium brown hair down from there to the bottom. I think I'll have a professional do it this time. It's shoulder length and I don't want to end up with another pixie.
We have/had similar hair and what you are saying really resonates! People knew me for my hair but it didn't feel authentic to me anymore! I just wanted to be me, whatever that me is. I have been growing mine out since last summer and first I bleached it, so now it's half bleached blonde-ish and half grey. And I chopped a bunch off. Not a great look, but a work in progress. I like your method better! :-) Thanks for the video!
Oh nice Claire! Yes, I think its even more difficult when you get compliments on your hair and people associate you with it! I feel so much more myself though! Happy your on this journey, let me know how it turns out for you! xoxo
I love it! I've been waiting for my gray to come in; it's taking forever. I get a few grays and then the roots turn brown again, and it's been going back and forth for 15 years. I discovered that my grays are curly, like corkscrew curly, and I was so excited. Now I have a few of those around my face, which I love, but I feel so impatient.
rather than bleaching 2 times there are purple toners you can mix in with the silver toner to neutralize the yellow. Also you can mix in the oleplex or k18 with the toner. Some stylist are pretreating hair with k18 before bleaching as a lot of the yellow is actually from mineral deposits in your hair from water. I use a mineral neutralizing shampoo about once a week or 10 days.
Everyone says dont do box dye, but sometimes maybe some of us just gotta or want to. I think u made the best choice to not re-bleach and it looks great for at home!
I was growing out my natural hair (grays) then became really bored, started cutting it and eventually decided to try going red. Now I just had a touch up on the red but I miss my natural grey hair. I am willing to do a full chop in a few weeks and start over, but I may try going gray at home. I don’t think I want to chop it because it will be really short. Which I have done that in the past but it takes so long to grow it out. Thank you for sharing your transition. Your hair looks gorgeous. I know this is a few years later. Your video is still helpful.
Everything you said in your video about colouring your hair at this stage in your life is exactly how I’m feeling. Thank you for your inspiration!!!! It looks awesome and I’m on the same journey. Mine is curly so I’m going to let it grow out.
The last time I dyed my hair I think it was round the 15th of February! I have about 1 1/2 to 2 inches of growth and and it’s a nice salt and pepper color which I really like and I’ve decide to just leave it! Going to do this Gray hair thing! For now naturally but when I can I’ll check with my stylist to get her input, but definitely not going to dye it anymore! And it doesn’t look that bad since I was dyeing my hair blonde for the last 4 years so that helps! Good luck to Alissa and everyone going on the Gray Journey!
I've had to color my hair since I was 14yrs old due to having so much grey in it, I'm 56 now. I bleached my hair out a couple of years ago to transition to my natural grey. Hubby got sick with sarcoma and ended up passing away, so it was easier to just color it instead of messing with it during that time. So I chucked the entire transition idea for nearly 2 years now, and I have been using Demi color instead of permanent on my hair during that time. The chlorine in the swimming pool this Summer has pulled all the Demi color from the top and sides, so they are all natural grey, but the back is still dark with some of the color build up. My plan is to use Color Oops (Just bought it tonight) to try pull out the remainder of my Demi color on the back, and hope it pulls it to grey, instead of turning bright orange, so we shall see lol. Transitioning certainly isn't fun, but I'm hoping it's worth it when I finally get there because the maintenance of constant coloring to cover the grey, especially now that it's growing in faster than ever, is royal pain.
wow your hair is beautiful i've spent a lot of money on getting my hair lighter i was affraid to use bleach myself i'm happy with the lady that colored my hair but i just had to tell you you did good
You are very brave,, I'm 52 and want to let my gray go natural but so afraid it will make me look washed out and old,,, but your a beautiful woman and your hair looks amazing!! Thank you for inspiring me to make the change,, thank you thank you!!!
It’s good to finally feel the natural texture of your hair. I grew mine out about ten years ago, never looked back. I dyed it for about thirty odd years.
This was the video Ive been looking for! I am at the same point, as you, at the beginning of the video. I am not fooling myself, nor anyone else, anymore. Time to get authentic. Thank you!
You have a beautiful head of hair! What you said about feeling authentic really resonated with me. After dying my hair MONTHLY for 10 years (ugh) it suddenly occurred to me that it felt fake... I felt fake. I’d always lived my life open, honest, fine with who & what I was so this sudden realization that I was HIDING something really changed how I thought and I just couldn’t continue dying my hair. I jumped in with both feet, cold turkey, and just let it grow on its own as I watched... and watched... and watched. My hair is to my shoulders. I’ve trimmed as I’ve gone and maybe have half an inch of dye left. I’m not in a hurry to cut it off. I actually really thought the last 4 inches of dark tips was a really pretty look. A lot of white at the temples and top and dark in the back. Fascinating how unique and individual each persons head of hair is! really enjoyed the process. Felt it gave me a natural face lift with the white extending my face upward instead of the harsh dark hair line pushing down on my brow. I’ve made sure to wear red lipstick and some color around my face weather it’s a red hair accessory or jewel tone blouse. I get compliments all the time from all ages, men and women. My hair is actually SOFT now! You are going to look stunning when your gray grows in with your beautiful face and gorgeous hair! Keep us updated. I’d love to watch your progress
Thank you so much! Yes It really is liberating! and I have been changing my makeup and clothing as well and finding the right colors... I will keep you updated!!!!❤️
Alissa Cohen the Curly Girl Method is what started me on ditching the dye. My hair started to get curly again and I wondered “how curly could it be without hair dye ruining it?” Like I said earlier, it’s SOFT now and curly. Not wiry or frizzy at all. Must say, though, it is really hard to find a sulfate free blue shampoo! Also, I tried Pastel Silver Overtone and it seemed fine. Watched Erica Johnston on youtube. I had a bit of dinginess so thought it would brighten it and it did. I want something to make the white super white and it doesn’t do that. Very conditioning though. It’s supposed to be sulfate free
I’m 52, a hennaed redhead and have decided to transition! I’m 4 months in and so far looks like I will be bright white in front and darker in back. Haven’t seen my natural color in about 35 years. I started going gray in my 20s. ! I can’t rush it along and bleach it because you can’t color over Hannah or bleach it out. I just have to wait. I wouldn’t want to bleach it anyway because my hair is super healthy now.. I consider it a blank pallet. I can add temporary overtone, some streaks, some root shadowing. Switch it up anyway I want. It’s liberating.I am 4 months in and can’t wait
You look so much younger with your hair after the couple of days. Looks beautiful. I did the same thing, in letting my gray grow out. It was weaved blond and I cut it real shout. And in less than 8 months it was all natural. I know you don’t want to cut your hair. It just worked best for me. But your hair is so pretty. And I love the curls.
You are so beautiful! I know you didn't get the grey you wanted but it looks great!!!! Your the epitome of a 70's wild child, all u need is flowers in your hair 🌺xo
Great result! That took a lot of courage and ingenuity. I think that you were wise from the start using the Curly Girl Method. A lot of people are either not familiar with this method of cleansing and conditioning the hair, or think that it's not suitable for their hair type. Anyone who is regularly coloring or bleaching their hair or has dry, frizzy should consider this nourishing cleansing method. I visited your website to see your final result and your silver hair looks amazing!! I am only about 1/3 of the way through my transition to my gray hair and unfortunately, bleaching my ends is not an option due to my dry, coarse brunette dyed hair. But I just found a silver gel-cream temporary color by As I Am that I may use on my dark ends on certain occasions when I really want my hair to be all silver, Thanks for the inspiration!!!
I am 20 months tomorrow. My best advice is to leave it alone. Let the process be what it is a process. I have another year to go before it's completely grown out. It's worth it. My skin tone and coloring looks great with the gray. Cheers!
wow. thank you. feeling very much the same - when you said, for some reason, although you love your wild hair, it doesn't feel authentic anymore- you made me feel connected . thanks for sharing.
You look gorgeous and younger with the silver locks; you are rockin' it! Olaplex is a life saver when using bleach. Hair actually feels like its had a deep conditioning treatment - no breakage or "straw hair". Keep being authentic because it suits you and it's so freeing.
You have so much hair, you needed to use 2 boxes of color. Not sure how many you tried. I'm going to try this myself....thank you. Best of MANY videos I've watched...
I never bleached or anything to my hair and I get so many compliments on my silver hair … I’m 62 and it took 4 years of cutting and letting it grow out, my hair has dark depth to some of it so it really looks cool… God is my hair stylist these days 😊😊
Yesss!! I have had really long hair and worn dread extensions for years. Im 53 but most people think im in my 30s. My hair has been dark for years--- but my roots are coming in white. I can’t picture myself with white. Eekkkk!! I just don’t get past a quarter inch and I color it. I’m ready to do this though. It’s time for me. Yep. Love this. Thanks
I am doing this now too - growing out my (brown) colored hair. My hair is mostly one length so I am using a temporary light brown spray on my part so I don't have that line of light roots and it is working very well. My hair is fine so I choose not to bleach. The spray washes out and the light hair it is covering is still very bright so I am not staining my hair in the process.
Use pastel purple overtone. As you know, Purple cancels out yellow. Mix it with a white conditioner 1:1. Put it on dry hair. Let it sit a while. Expect it to turn purple in some of the lighter places. But it will wash out and look way less yellow and more silver/white.
I completely agree with what you are saying and I feel like it is a new journey in my life and I am happy not to be putting chemicals in my hair anymore. I am going to go to my hairdresser on Friday to see if she can help me transition better!
Alissa, I bought your raw food book 16 years ago at 40 and you look as beautiful today as then❤ although I eat everything today, I still use your recipes and started my salt & pepper journey 4 months ago.
It looks great!! U look better with the grey hair. At least it’s going to be easier to blend with what u achieved here. This helped me a lot with figuring out how I can transition to my natural grays.
The hair is freaking amazing!!! Silver Sister!!! I went from blue black and grew it out. Ugh. I am maintaining my silver/white hair with Overtone and I love it. Very moisturizing and use the Pastel Silver as well. Love it. Anytime you use bleach to lift it you will get that yellow/brassy crap eventually so I wouldn't it's an ongoing battle then...You did GREAT!!!
Oh thank you for your very clear and honest account. I'm a couple of months in. I also feel compelled to let my grey hair shine. It feels cleaner in some way. Just gotta find my path to my natural colour. I'm excited and can't wait.
I love the way you’re thinking out loud all the way through the various stages of going to grey... “I think it’s OK.... I don’t know... maybe it will be OK.... I wonder if I should..? I’ll see what it’s like tomorrow... Or should8....?.” etc.. You were Everywoman experimenting with her hair when you did that. I bet everyone watching could relate. I think your hair looks great grey.. much better. Suits your face and your personality. Inspiring!
I think you look fine. Understandably you are sensitive to the yellow, but it is more subdued than you think. I like your color and curls. My journey is from dark brown/black to silvery grey. When my hairdresser bleached out my short hair the beginning of April (before the lockdown), mine went from white roots to orange tips. I used the Loreal Fierra in Smokey Grey and it is OK, but your color is much better. I like to see the warm and cool silvers/greys and beige tones together.
Stick it out! My stylist bleached highlights in to my dark hair right before the quarantine. Lots of colors. Now the whole crown is white and gray. But however you get there it’s a very free feeling!
I was hoping you could share the products you use to "wash" and condition your hair. I've just had tons of highlights put in to help disguise the grey, my hair is similar in texture to yours, and is drier than ever now. I love how your hair came out!!
Congrats! I have been "natural" (grey) for 8 years, and the freedom is pretty awesome! I have tried every blue/purple shampoo and condition their is.... I finally found Aveda Blue Malvada shampoo once a week (mixed with a little bit of my regular shampoo as this shampoo is a little too dry for my dry hair) and my regular conditioner. It takes out the brassy right away to ALL hair colors and makes my hair look so bright and shiny. Good luck on your transition, you will love it....
It is a nice blonde. But to get silver, you must lift the level to a level 10. Putting that silver over yellow will tone the yellow, but it will never make it silver. You could go through and put highlights in, then use a level 7 grey alternating to make silver highlights and darker pepper grey lowlights which will help it all blend in well as it grows. Put the highlights heaviest where your hair is naturally silver (usually top crown) and the darker grey where it is naturally darker. Good luck! Also a good natural conditioner, shine agent for silver or light blonde hair is clear castor oil.
You certainly onspire me to do this at home. My hair is short, so my local salon keep telling me to wait 3 months to grow longer hair, before having this treatment. But last time I waited that long I caved in and cokoured my hair because I could stand the demarcation line
You're beautiful no matter what! I was thinking of using henna to go red; but your video is making me re-think that. (I've never colored and have started seeing lots of gray). I've been going through the same thing about questioning authenticity vs. not, so I had to laugh when you said the word AUTHENTIC. Same exact thing I've been thinking for months now. All of God's blessings on you. Sending you big hugs and warm wishes! ~Kim Richerson
Kim Richerson Thank you Kim!!! Yes that word is powerful right?! It already feels so freeing and so much more me! Go for it!!! Best of luck on your gray journey!!❤️💕
Thanks! I am 37 and going through the process. A DIY short bob and I am ready to go. Good luck to you too
Good luck to you xo
Same exact here! Coloring forever and am now 52 and 4 months into transition! I like it so far
Sherry Searcy yes I totally agree with you! At some point it just looks unnatural!
Same here, and I just turned 70!
That part about feeling impatient to see what it will look like. That's how I feel as well. The uncomfortable part is the in between.
3 years ago I let my roots grow out and then shaved it to 8mm and I've never looked back. It's now down to my bra strap and I have beautiful white streaks throughout my hair. I feel so free not coloring my hair anymore.
Thats awesome! I feel like doing that also!!!!
@@Intuitiveguide It was so freeing and awesome that I didn't have to worry about coloring my hair anymore.
Can u plz tel me that when we stop dying our hair.is there any other product we use??can u explain.i mean im confused.i also want to stop coloring my hair.they all are golden brown with 50 percent of grey roots.im 35.
That would be awesome, I am tired of the every 3 to 4 week thing.
Yes yes yes. It’s amazing and liberating 😁
Rene Pena I know Rene! I can’t wait for it to be my natural hair!!!!❤️💕
Hey 👋🤝
You’re so brave. It’s looks great. I would leave it alone other than using the purple shampoo. It looks healthy
and very unique. Just let it be now and don’t look for trouble.
Rita Gaston thanks Rita!❤️💕❤️💕
Rita Gaston , love the purple shampoo ! Makes it glitter !
And skin too 😃
You look beautiful, I am 65 and thinking of doing it myself. Thank you for sharing
I transitioned 6 years ago, at age 44. Best decision ever!
Awesome! Yes, I'm loving it!
Amazing..
I am taking the jump from blonde to white next week 🙈
Kristine Fraser yay!!!!
I started in march of 2020 since I thought with the coronavirus we won't be getting out anyway
So now I am grey
Same here. 52 and not feeling authentic with coloring my hair. You said it so well. I had to jump to the end to peek: you look FABULOUS.
Thank you!!!!❤️🙏💕
Put the purple shampoo onto ‘DRY’ hair , leave for 10-15 minutes rinse out it will be perfect
Ive done that and it doesn't do much for me
but I started using a toner conditioner and it seems to help! Thanks!!!
Betty Nesbitt never had any luck with that purple shampoo..

It took me 2 years to get rid of my color. I got SO many compliments on it when I was transitioning. I love the freedom I have now with my OWN, God-given color. It was a journey, for sure. I have Curly hair, too.
Dawn R Yep it’s a process, I can’t wait to have my own natural color grown out!!!❤️💕
Covid causing salons to close really helped me to finally let my natural hair come in and now 3 mos in am too am excited to see what it looks like.
Thank you so much 🤗
I'm so glad I came across this video.
Stunning! Thanks for being part of the Silver Revolution!!
All women it seems look better in their natural gray! 🎉 startingmy journey now at 56!❤. Love your channel
Thank you so much for this video showing the way to go back to natural (grey) hair colour and stop colouring every 3 weeks
Wow. It turned out amazing. I just started my journey. 1 month without dye. My hair is a reddish brown so it’s going to look wild. Wish I was brave like you. 😍😘
I love it. Just leave it like this and let it grow naturally. Trim the ends every know and then.
Thank you!❤️
Hey Teresa
Ohhh love it! Now I'm inspired to go gray. I just turned 67 and have been using dyes for way too long.
Thank you!!!
I love how your hair is coming in!
I’ve let my hair go natural quite a few years ago, I absolutely love my grey hair! I will never dye it again, it’s empowering! Your hair turned out beautiful, you rock the grey and if I were you.....I’d let it be it’s true color, it suits you!
Thank you! Yep just letting it grow, cant wait for it to be all my natural color!
Thank you! You can do it, stay strong, you'll love it!!!
I agree! You should totally do it 🥰
Hey 👋
I can so relate to having your wild wavy hair being a big part of your identity. I too have had big hair my whole life (was always told it was curly, but now realize it’s wavy with spirals and ringlets) and I’ve dyed it a dark red auburn for probably the last 10 years. At 53 years of age, I’ve decided it’s time to show off the authentic (grey) wavy mane that’s hiding under the dye. Wish me luck lol
Good luck!!!
You look amazing with grey hair! So much brighter in your eyes! Your natural silver hair is gonna be a real head turner:). Go you!
Thank you so much!!!❤️💕
I’m so with you! Coloring my hair just doesn’t feel like me anymore. Thank you 🙏
Tracy McKelvey yep when it’s time you just know!❤️🙏
Hey 👋🤝
Girl your hair is GORGEOUS! U are really patient. The end color is fabulous.
Don't give up. I'm where you are now. I think I'm going to love it. Good luck girl.
Elizabeth Gardea oh nice! Good luck also!!!❤️
Covid pushed me to start the process. Four months in.
Andrea Malerba nice! Keep
Going!!!❤️💕
Alissa Cohen I will!!!
Same with me. My daughter hates it.
Same here! I haven't colored my hair since March 2020. I'll continue to grow it out but I had to do something about the dull white color so I got "Overtone Vibrant Silver" to tone the white to a silver. I LOVE IT! It's not permanent but it shimmers in the light. :-)
Your hair looks GORGEOUS!!! I'm incredibly hopeful, thank you for all the great tips & advice. So happy I found your channel. 🙌
Thank you Colleen!!!!
You took a great risk with the bleach. Olaplex sure worked. You look great. Enjoy.
Angela Schapiro thanks Angela xo
With your hair going to white, you might want to consider switching to a lighter, more grey/taupe brown for your eyebrow pencil. It really shocked me how different earth tones looked on me after I let my grey/white/silver come in, and I've started wearing far more bright colours than I used to when my hair was brown.
Yep I did and I agree with the bright colors!!! oxox
Gray/white/ silver is the new neutral @@Intuitiveguide
Thank you! I know that’s why I had to do it quickly!!! Xo
rather than bleaching 2 times there are purple toners you can mix in with the silver toner to neutralize the yellow. Also you can mix in the oleplex or k18 with the toner. Some stylist are pretreating hair with k18 before bleaching as a lot of the yellow is actually from mineral deposits in your hair from water. I use a mineral neutralizing shampoo about once a week or 10 days.
Its already been three years grown out but thank you! I need to do an updated video! xo
Everyone says dont do box dye, but sometimes maybe some of us just gotta or want to. I think u made the best choice to not re-bleach and it looks great for at home!
It looks great, so much more flattering for your skin tone, you look younger
Thank you!!!!!!!!
Thank you! You'll love it if you do! xo
Everything you said in your video about colouring your hair at this stage in your life is exactly how I’m feeling. Thank you for your inspiration!!!! It looks awesome and I’m on the same journey. Mine is curly so I’m going to let it grow out.
xoxo Good luck with yours!!!!!
I think it looks beautiful…..you look so pretty w/ the grey. Some people look great …..you are one of them 🕊️
The last time I dyed my hair I think it was round the 15th of February!
Wilma Pagan yay! Go for it!!! xoxo
Alissa I think you look amazing as a silver vixen!! It actually makes you look YOUNGER! So pretty.
Thank you!!!! xoxo
Transitioning certainly isn't fun, but I'm hoping it's worth it when I finally get there because the maintenance of constant coloring to cover the grey, especially now that it's growing in faster than ever, is royal pain.
wow your hair is beautiful i've spent a lot of money on getting my hair lighter i was affraid to use bleach myself i'm happy with the lady that colored my hair but i just had to tell you you did good
Thank you so much Patricia!!!❤️💕🙏
I don’t have gray hair yet but I kinda want to dye my hair gray just for the hell of it!:) I love this and I LOVE your authenticity!
Thank you!!!!❤️💕❤️💕
Hey detox
You have a stunning curl pattern 👍👍 the grey looks amazing on you.
Thank you!!!❤️
Hey 👋
Thank you! My hair is where yours was. I am thinking of going natural also. This has helped. Your hair looks great.
Thank you! You're welcome! so glad it helped!
Hey marykey
You are very brave,, I'm 52 and want to let my gray go natural but so afraid it will make me look washed out and old,,, but your a beautiful woman and your hair looks amazing!! Thank you for inspiring me to make the change,, thank you thank you!!!
Your so welcome! I think it looks different on everyone but if you want to do it go for it it’s so freeing!!!
@@Intuitiveguide we only live once, no do overs rite lol, if I dont like I can alway color again !! As long as I have hair ! Lol peace sista!!
It’s just like a blonde whose going gray. I think you did a great job!!👍
Hey 👋
It looks great even like that
It’s good to finally feel the natural texture of your hair. I grew mine out about ten years ago, never looked back. I dyed it for about thirty odd years.
This was the video Ive been looking for! I am at the same point, as you, at the beginning of the video. I am not fooling myself, nor anyone else, anymore. Time to get authentic. Thank you!
YES!!! you're welcome!
Good luck!!! Yes so liberating!❤️
Thank you so much!!!! Yes can’t wait for it to all be my natural soon!❤️
You are so beautiful! I know you didn't get the grey you wanted but it looks great!!!! Your the epitome of a 70's wild child, all u need is flowers in your hair 🌺xo
Awe thank you so much!! xoxo
You're so welcome! Best of luck to you!
OH WOW! your hair is GORGEOUS!! This is my hair goal.
Thank you!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I am 20 months tomorrow. My best advice is to leave it alone. Let the process be what it is a process. I have another year to go before it's completely grown out. It's worth it. My skin tone and coloring looks great with the gray. Cheers!
Gina g ❤️💕👍
wow. thank you. feeling very much the same - when you said, for some reason, although you love your wild hair, it doesn't feel authentic anymore- you made me feel connected . thanks for sharing.
Hey Sandra
Good for you! I had the same feeling of not being authentic and went gray a year and a half ago. Wish I had done it sooner.
You look gorgeous and younger with the silver locks; you are rockin' it! Olaplex is a life saver when using bleach. Hair actually feels like its had a deep conditioning treatment - no breakage or "straw hair". Keep being authentic because it suits you and it's so freeing.
Thank you!!!!!! I've used Olaplex twice now, its a miracle! thank you so much!!!
❤️
You have so much hair, you needed to use 2 boxes of color. Not sure how many you tried. I'm going to try this myself....thank you. Best of MANY videos I've watched...
Thank you!!! xoxo
Yep. Love this. Thanks
You're welcome!
I was trying to get that but it was sold out! Thank you!!!❤️
I completely agree with what you are saying and I feel like it is a new journey in my life and I am happy not to be putting chemicals in my hair anymore. I am going to go to my hairdresser on Friday to see if she can help me transition better!
Tracey Szczepanik so freeing!!! Good luck at your hairdresser!!! ❤️
Alissa, I bought your raw food book 16 years ago at 40 and you look as beautiful today as then❤ although I eat everything today, I still use your recipes and started my salt & pepper journey 4 months ago.
Awe thank you!!!! xoxooxox
Thank you Jennifer!!!! ❤️💕🙏
You look amazing and authentic. What an inspiration you are !
Oh thank you so much!!!! xoxo
Oh thank you for your very clear and honest account. I'm a couple of months in. I also feel compelled to let my grey hair shine. It feels cleaner in some way. Just gotta find my path to my natural colour. I'm excited and can't wait.
You can do it!
Congrats on going natural! It is definitely a process.. I grew my hair hair at 37. And I love it! That was 6 years ago.
Thank you! Yes sure is!!
Hey 🥰
I love the way you’re thinking out loud all the way through the various stages of going to grey... “I think it’s OK.... I don’t know... maybe it will be OK.... I wonder if I should..? I’ll see what it’s like tomorrow... Or should8....?.” etc.. You were Everywoman experimenting with her hair when you did that. I bet everyone watching could relate. I think your hair looks great grey.. much better. Suits your face and your personality. Inspiring!
Haha thanks! It’s the Gemini in me!
@@Intuitiveguide must be a Libra trait too then. I do it all the time.
Thank you!!!
I'm 71 and still coloring my hair. So tired of it. You have inspired me, but I am really pale so not to sure how I would look
I have porcelain skin and my gray looks great against it!
Stick it out! My stylist bleached highlights in to my dark hair right before the quarantine. Lots of colors. Now the whole crown is white and gray. But however you get there it’s a very free feeling!
Thank you! I can’t wait for
My natural to color to come in!❤️
Try Morocam oil blonde perfect purple conditioner!! for curly thick hair, not as drying as the shampoo. Your silvers will POP!
I was hoping you could share the products you use to "wash" and condition your hair. I've just had tons of highlights put in to help disguise the grey, my hair is similar in texture to yours, and is drier than ever now. I love how your hair came out!!
Hi lisa, I only use a conditioner. I’ll do another video about that soon!!❤️💕
Lupus Reimagined oh
Awesome! Thanks for the tip!!!
I’m at your beginning point now. About 5-6 months into COVID . To afraid to do myself. You look great.
Thank you!!! Stay with it!❤️💕
Try using Fanola "No Yellow Masque." It's fantastic for taking yellow tones out. Its available on Amazon and it works great. Its not a dye.
Thanks!
I love Your hair, not just the color but those curls , gorgeous hair. You got it now. You are the Hair Warrior!! 💜😎
Thank you!!❤️💕
You certainly onspire me to do this at home.
