Here it is August 8, 2023 and this song is still one of my top 20 C/W songs to dance to. There used to be a group of about 10 of us that went dancing every Saturday night and as a single dad that was my adult time although all of us acted like a bunch of teenagers on the loose and we had a blast. I'm 70 years old now and several years ago most of the group decided they were getting a little too old to be going out. One of the ladies in the group was the best dance partner anyone could ask for. I'm not bragging because it was a fact that we put everyone else to shame in that club. Once the going out stopped, several of them started declining in health for one reason or another and about 3 years ago that best dance partner, Brenda, passed away and it broke my heart like no other. About 2 years ago, another of our group members passed away. I've always been told that when it is your time to go you just go but I can't make myself believe that. Over time I just feel like if we had kept going dancing and laughing, we would all still be together dancing our asses off and having the time of our lives. There is no doubt in my mind that laughter and dancing is the best form of excercise for everyone. Our group had a very special friendship that I thought would last the rest of our lives but I guess we just didn't have the strength to hold it together and I couldn't even tell you the last time I saw anyone of them and if by chance we do run into each other, we just do the cordial ''Hi, how are you?'' and go about our business. Back in the day, we stayed until closing time and then head to some old oil well site, drink beer and jam our stereos and dance some more. Everyone of us grew up in a very small town in Oklahoma and the whole three block long Main Street would be our latest dance floor and we always did this until the sun started rising and then disappeared so that those that was arriving for church would't see us and give us those ''your going to hell'' looks, not that we really cared what people thought of us. I miss the best dance partner ever, Brenda, and I want to dedicate this song to her memory that will live on forever in our hearts. For you Brenda with all my love, Just Me
