- Thank you for joining me for another Solo Play Sunday! The Red Cathedral is a game that caused a lot of buzz when it came out in 2020-it had a dice rondel, contracts, resource management, area majority... all in a very small package! I've had this game for a while now and have played it at a variety of player counts but I was encouraged to play it solo again through the BG41 (Board Games for One) Facebook group because it was the game of the week a little bit ago. If you're a solo gamer and you're not a part of this solo community, you should consider checking it out! I often don't own the voted-upon game of the week but it's fun to compare my scores with other solo players when I do! / boardgamesforone
A big thank you to Emma for suggesting the charity for today's Solo Play Sunday! She recommended that I check out The Eden Project, a "not for profit organisation that works in Myanmar, to give rescued human trafficking victims skills and opportunities which reduce the risks of being re-trafficked. They can rebuild their lives with support and hope. Eden’s programs are based in South-East Asia, which is a host to more than half of the global total of human trafficking victims."

Dave, a simple tip to not to forget to reroll is to place the die you have moved near the ressource token until the end of your turn.

Coffee Roaster is a great challenging solo Game

お疲れ様でした！よくできました！ Late to the party here, but had to jump in to say I love The Red Cathedral both solo and multi-player. I realized in your playthough that I could take more advantage of the "lose a prestige to gain rubles" free action, especially when decorating. (Thanks for the tip!) I have the Contractors expansion on pre-order. (It's not coming until June because I also ordered a game that's coming out in June and everything will be shipped together.) Don't know if Contractors changes solo play dramatically, but I'd love to see you try it out....or you could do the more advanced side of the player board (where decorations are not immediately available and have to be "unlocked.") Nice game! Really enjoyed this one. (Question: Have you ever played Bargain Basement Bathysphere?)

It took me a play or two to figure out how to take advantage of that! What else did you order along with the Contractors expansion? I'd like to try out the expansion too but haven't committed to buying it, especially since I almost exclusively play this one solo! Like you said, if I want some variability, I could always just use the reverse side of the board, too! Thank again for checking out the video and for the comment, James! @@BoardGameDave You're definitely playing it correctly as that action can be completed any time during one's turn. It's a great way to generate money in a game where the rubles can be hard to come by! The games that I've ordered: In the Footsteps of Darwin (a quick and breezy game with amazing art that releases in June), Contractors expansion, Nimalia (a puzzly little game that requires you to make difficult choices throughout the game in order to maximize whatever your scoring each round...just added it to my order yesterday), and the aforementioned Bargain Basement Bathysphere (a solo only roll and write game that has a 20-game "campaign" in which you play through three different maps and accrue rewards along the way as you successfully complete missions). Don't know if you like roll and writes or not, but if you do this one might be a good candidate since you play a lot of games solo.

That's good to know that I'm playing that rule correctly! It almost seems like cheating because there are like no restrictions on when you can do that!
