Many thanks for the message! I knew I equally loved the harmonisations of both your father's Londonderry Air and this Shearing piece but I hadn't made the connection until you mentioned it, thank you. I've also recorded a few of his other pieces - I think the Berceuse came out best. Wonderful to receive a comment from the "almost Apostolic succession", thank you!
Many thanks for the comment! I very much enjoyed your vocal cover and recommend anyone reading this to check it out here: th-cam.com/video/A3m-zvBA-u8/w-d-xo.html
Magnificent, Paul! A really gorgeous performance by you of this harmonically rich set of variations on a beautiful hymn tune. You ensure we hear your vintage Father Wills at its very best: bravo!
Hello Graham. Many thanks for the comments. Yes, the Willis Clarinet (or, strictly, the Corno-di-Bassetto) sounds all the more fabulous those few feet away from the console. No clattering keys today!
Sounds so beautiful on a pipe organ. I love love Sir George he was unique and so inventive with whatever he did. He would not have minded you changing the arrangement I'm sure, as he almost certainly played it slightly different each time himself being a jazz pianist.
Thanks for the comment. Yes, Shearing's lush harmonies make for a great combo with the pipe organ! Good to be reminded that George would have played things differently each time, thank you.
Lovely rich arrangement and great tempo. The harmonisations are reminiscent of someone close to me! Well played 👍

Wonderful variations, dear Paul!!! And you are right: it is beautiful until the last note, I liked how it ended so dark and with a low pedal tone.
Hi Dietmar. Many thanks for the comment. Yes, the final couple of bars are a beautiful bonus: like a juicy cherry on top of an already gorgeous cake!
