I’ve never seen a fan base begging so loudly for LESS content. They’re actively killing their own franchise, which is especially impressive because the sims 4 was almost guaranteed to thrive until they butchered it so thoroughly
They do need to make less content since when they ADD content it breaks. They need to focus on fixing the game and not adding to it. Typical Sims players don't realize how old and outdated this game engine is. No matter how many patches it's gonna break.
its about getting your wallet. they dont care how bad the content is while people keep buying it. their objective is to make as much profit as possible as quickly as possible, i think.
The most exciting thing EA could announce is that they're not adding new content and instead are going to spend a year just fixing what exists. It would be the first time in years people truly got excited about the sims.
The closest to this might be the Marvel cinematic franchise.
They’re making it worse to generate excitement for the new one. Hoping we get tired of this and excited for 5… they’re failing miserably…
I think when you've spent $1400+ on a video game, you're allowed to be critical. But that's just me.
Be critical, demand refund for product that doesn’t function/is incomplete, be heard more as valuable consumers, deserving of quality products, I could go on.
Honestly if you’ve spent that much money on it and you’re still upset, maybe stop reaching into the fire and being surprised you’re getting burned…
Real. My entire sim garden looks like a garbage mess cuz of unremovable weeds and unevolvable plants cuz they are “out of season” or just bugged
@@razrv3lc I mean, I agree. I stopped forking out money a while ago because the only way you make a company listen is by taking away what they want: your money.
But for these content creators who are not in the Creator program, but who get looked to for their reviews, I understand the frustration of forking out their money on a product just to get on here and tell us its broken yet again.
Also the fact that their patches keep breaking old stuff and basic features is aggravating.
@@razrv3lcTHISSSSSSS THIS COMMENT RIGHT HERE.
EA need to spend six months;
- fixing bugs and glitches
- adding basic swatches
- seperating accesories from hairstyles
- cleaning out the Gallery and having moderators for dead content and spammers
- updating content from old packs and continue refreshing them
- creating overlapping inter-pack content and gameplay
- asking a bunch of content creators to compile a list of top 20 issues from their individual audiences
- take feedback on what is lacking in each and every pack
- review popular mods and incorporate certain aspects of them and build it into the game; (UI Cheats, ordering complete food menu and groceries, Little Sams)
LISTEN TO THE SIMS COMMUNITY!
And before releasing said refreshes making sure they actually work and that they aren't just releasing more bugs and glitches
Good ideas but I feel like the only way they would actually fix the game like this (especially old packs) is if the game was on a subscription model.
There's no financial incentive to tweak, fix, or expand old packs when they already have your money.
@@zachu5508they could at least fix broken packs like dine out and my wedding stories which breaks the content they’re meant to expand. or, make them free.
The only that could be possible is the first one.
At this point, the very foundation of the game is so messed up that no patch will fix it. There's a reason why major issues such as simulation lag, game crashes, save issues, etc. aren't being fixed or are fixed but only until a new pack breaks the game again. Sims 4 was originally designed as a multiplayer game, using the same engine as SimCity 2013. Most likely, some of the fundamental structure didn't mesh well with the single-player design. Or it just wasn't built to last this long.
EA just laid off hundreds of employees. The Sims 4 has never been great, but I wouldn’t expect it to get better anytime soon
from what I saw, those employees weren't working on the Sims franchise, they were working on things like Star Wars which EA is cutting back on. The teams at EA don't intermingle, like it's not that someone is working on TS4 and also Star Wars, it's either one or the other. And in this instance, TS4 hasn't been affected by the layoffs, just licensed content games (as in they are paying for the license to produce the games). They already own the Sims franchise so they don't need to pay anyone for it, and that's exactly what they want - games that can be developed/worked on in-house.
Maybe some Sims employees have been let go, but based on what I saw about it, it wasn't their section of EA that was affected. Grant Rodiek may have been fired, but I don't think that was because of mass layoffs; they probably felt he wasn't performing well as the Sims lead. That's pure speculation, but in high paying developer lead jobs, people don't normally quit without a job lined up after.
@@rosehipowlMaybe they should lay off the actual EA employees and hire modders instead. Things might get fixed then.
@@Jute511 I think the issue is the management in EA being capitalistic and pushing its employees to put out broken games, not the actual developers. I think a fair amount of the Sims team is actually trying to do a good job with what they've been given, with little resources and a push to churn out more content above all.
@@Jute511If modders really want to contribute, they’d apply for jobs at EA. No need to lay off actual professionals with families to support.
They denied laying off employees. They claim they never existed!
I really want to know who at EA hates people who play video games. Every single game they release holds such contempt for their playerbase.
Edit: I never said it was the developers, and I don’t think it’s the developers. My comment was directed at the CEO, finance department, market research, shareholders, etc.
It's an EA thing. Where hating your players is a religion
The people in charge of EA are business people, they probably have never touched a game in their lives
Greedy CEO's. They don't care about the game, just how much money it can make. Why fix something when you can milk the fanbase? Btw is it just me or did this all start with games like candy crush? Because a TON of games have stuff like that added nowadays.
It’s almost certainly not the developers. Being a game developer is not a job you get into for a good work/life balance or the money, you do it because you’re passionate about creating video games. It’s management and executives who are focused on boosting the bottom lines and “helping” that turn a project that could’ve been made with passion into a soul-crushing 60+ hours per week ordeal.
lol thts everywhere lol welcome to capitalism lol
Every time I see 'your game is updating' I think, 'oh great what's going to break this time?'
The issue with the pack manager for sims 4 is that the packs in sims 3 were 5x bigger with way more to do so it was still fun playing with only a few enabled. Sims 4 is so shallow that only being able to play a few packs would get insanely boring very quickly. I think they just should lay 4 to rest. The code clearly can’t take much more content added to it and with every patch comes 10 new bugs.
I agree, I think swatch worked out something like sims 3 late night was about 5 different sims 4 packs. It’s crazy
I meant satch, not swatch ….. I hate autocorrect !
@@Inspirational-17yep! Late night was awesome- and so was the one with the monsters like vampires, werwolves, ghosts, and faries- there was so much cool stuff and there was enough to do for each monster that you could play each different one and get a different experience
Sims 3 occults - two packs ( with vampires in late night )
Sims 4 - 5 packs for late night …
Then get to work for aliens,
Werewolves
Vampires
Spell casters
Literally 9 packs now for a small taster of the experience we had before … absolutely crazy
I still have sims 3 but I only have one expansion. After trouble satch had with downloading sims 3 packs he bought it put me off buying any more.. however maybe I can try it as I still have the luxury of origin on Mac, not the app so I my be fortunate and could work for me.
Sims 3 was huge, I hope to get more packs soon, it’s genuinely so ambitious. Money seems to mean more about ambition these days. I feel they try and spread things as little as possible.. looking forward to the competition. When paralives showed curved walls, we mysteriously got curved walls in sims….. soo I’m curious to watch how it all plays out
@@lemon_p1ss978
@@Inspirational-17 it’s insane. I have I think only 1 pack and 3 kits- but even then my game is buggy, even without mods and content- I have a good Pc so I think it’s just the sims 4 :/ but the sims 3 works almost perfectly with 4 packs! But god I have so much more content with the sims 3 and have never felt the need to install content for it, it’s genuinely enjoyable and really had something for everyone. But I didn’t know people had issues with downloading packs after buying them now for the sims 3, that’s really unfortunate- but like you said origin might be the way to go instead of the EA app- I had to transfer after reinstalling windows so now origin doesn’t work, hopefully it will for you though! Let us know if you do try it :D
How to sims: if its not brocken, break something else.
Anyways, still not buying packs because I will not play the game unless the shoping cart icon is removed entirely. I do not play a game that advertises to me while I play. ESPECIALLY NOT WHEN I FUCVKING PAID FOR IT.
I don’t think they’ll ever remove it 😢 truly hoping someone can mod it out, as it’s ridiculous 😞
@@Inspirational-17 I think someone already did. Simmatically has a mod on their patreon and Twisted Mexi will integrate the no shoping cart into their Better Build Buy. While I admire modders who remove the icon, my ethics code still tells me to not play the sims. They crossed a line here. I am done. Even mobile games don't advertise to you mid game play when you paid for them. I am dead serious. The sims 4 was fun, but I rather play the sims 1 than return to a game that I know only wants to advertise to me. That icon genuinely makes me want to never touch the game again.
@@Inspirational-17 Already done. Try the UI cheats extension mod and kiss the shopping cart good by.
@@Inspirational-17i think the one i have that removed it was called hot fix or smth like that and betterbuildbuy has the cart removed as well in the newest update
@@luxarcanaeNot everyone has access to mods and those are usually the most vulnerable to these practices. I am not buying from EA until that cart is gone for everyone.
I feel you. My friends told me if I hate Sims so much I should just stop playing it. I said that I never hated it, I LOVE THE GAME so much, that's why it's heartbreaking for me to see Sims get so bad. We're legitimately begging for the bare minimum and they give us an enormous update with no character and so much bugs. 😭
especially if you’ve been playing the sims for years it’s just aggravating how EA is acting
@@mirauzee true, I don't understand EA if they just listen to us and fix the game how we want it, they'd actually make millions. but nah they just money grab 😔
I've stopped playing Sims 4, unfortunately. I spent a lot of money on packs but now I can't even play.
Same here. I went back to the Sims 2 and I have never been happier!
Same here i just got fed up with the rental pack not working. Didnt open the game ever since.
Same😭 I try to play but it’s literally painfully boring eventho I have all the expansions, I always go back to the sims 3
@psychicsocial It's simply more fun and far superior.
@@sandraganadi7896 I had a glitch with the for rent pack I made a sim and I would have her make a meal and half way through my sim stopped cooking I tried to get her to resume cooking and she said she couldn't get to the food and there was nothing in her way the resume cooking would just automatically X out and not work
It's practically an open secret that the Sims 4 is nothing more than a cash cow for EA. They've adopted a model of charging the most, for doing the least. Most game development and companies have adopted this model. It's been over a decade. I think we need to get off the collective hopium and move on to better titles or past renditions. (Looking at Paralives and TS2 + 3)
I've tried installing sims 2 so many times and I cant make it work
even when paralives comes out, people will still buy sims 4 packs for their collections they are addicted and its funny when people think EA will feel a dent they know, like I do sims community will keep buying the packs play them for 2 seconds than leave, which for them they already bought the pack so it already gave money to them
@@mylseifThere's one video on YT that will guide you step by step on how to make your game work.
FOLLOW EVERY SINGLE STEP.

I think this constant patching, bug fixing, and releasing of bugged content indicates poor investment in proper quality assurance testing. When I worked in software, I knew our company was in trouble when we downsized QA, pulled people from other departments into last minute QA work, and then shuttered our in-house QA altogether and outsourced to India. The company went under. The strange thing is that The Sims is a huge franchise and, given their prices, they should be swimming in money. They can afford to invest the time and work hours into proper QA. Even with a very quick release schedule, they could afford to throw more bodies at QA in order to thoroughly test each release. They're shooting themselves in the foot with this outright refusal to find and fix major bugs prior to releases.
The problem is, the way capitalism without any consequences for its misdeeds works, so long as there's a sucker born every minute, PT Barnum can keep profiting off their stupidity. Why make quality when enough people are still willing to throw money away on garbage?
I think I heard somewhere that EA has been decreasing their QA testers with every new pack. There are more QAs for the base game than later expansions. It's not looking good. They also seems to not check for cross-pack issues, only the latest pack.
They are a huge company and they can afford QA but companies aren't going to go to extra expense out of the kindness of their hearts. They know this fanbase doesn't actually care about QA and will buy literally anything they release so why would they put in extra time and money?
@@mera8785except they literally have to address bugs everytime they release something because the fan base complains. So maybe it's just they don't care and want to cut corners cause ea is and always has been greedy. Like let's not act like ea is the only company cutting stuff to save a penny or please shareholders. Gaming industry as a whole don't care about their fanbases anymore just about numbers.
Forget about QA, regression bugs shouldn’t even make it to QA, do the devs not make [automated] unit tests? Integration tests? Visual tests? Do they test their work at all??
The issue with them changing code and it breaks mods is because my game is unplayable without the mods. If EA would fix my game, I wouldn't need half my mods.
I'm not blaming EA regarding this mess. I blame the community. This game has been glitchy and broke for years. Simmers keep buying and defending them. Why would EA fix anything when they know that people are going to buy it anyway. The funny thing about the Sims PC/Mac community is they will buy a broken game from EA and then demand the modders fix it. Every pack that has come out I've seen people saying how the modders will fix it or modders will change something they don't like. I know some people are new to this so here's a reminder. The modders don't work for EA or Maxis. Most do this during their free time because they love the game.
YES! This needs to be said more often.
...blame EA too, th? Let's not victim blame here, the huge company is not innocent, they know full well they can ship unfinished products. It's on both of them, really
It’s not even just EA, I am seeing this trend in video games where ‘modders will fix it’ is expected by the community as if modders are a neccessity. No mods should be fun extras, not ‘fixes’.
@@TheDawnofVanlifeit’s legitimately companies hoisting their responsibility of producing a fully functional game onto their consumers and it’s wild
Imagine if someone would've told you a few years ago that you'd say the words 'to give credit to Maxis, this isn't as severe as the incest glitch' 😭
With this games history I would say they wouldn't be surprised
Disappearing moodlets is actually a really big deal, because of how many gameplay things have been based on moodlets - pregnancy being the one I can think of that most people are probably most familiar with. It’s possible that if you save and exit while your sim is pregnant… the pregnancy moodlet could disappear and with it the pregnancy. Also I think things like plant sims, illness, curses, and possibly some fears? And maybe burnout?
this has been happening to me with things “earned traits” such as childhood phases, quirks, etc. I didn’t even realize it could be a glitch
Even worse, it affects hidden buffs as well as visible moodlets. So, hidden buffs that have timed effects (e.g., being grounded) will disappear when you exit the game and those timed effects will disappear or won't occur when you start playing again. And yes, this is also why childhood phases, quirks, etc., are disappearing as well.
This, I just got an email from the author of MCCC explaining that the entire game is pretty much broken at this point and to not blame modders.
@@JimmiG84 I only blame the modders for not knowing what they're doing in the first place. Because anyone who say's "The entire game is broken, don't blame me for my broken mods," CLEARLY doesn't understand what's happened.
Nobody's going to blame you for not being prepared for an update before it's released. Every single time the base game is updated, you have a chance that your mods will not work, simply because there is now stuff in the base game that you didn't account for. Modding is an ongoing process, it is never 'done,' until you decide to abandon it.
Also, the developers of a game have a right to change anything they choose to about it. If they want to rename every single object in their game, forcing you to go on and retype all your code to match that.... Then that is what you must do if you wish to keep distributing your mods.
I'm having no issues whatsoever
All my Sims have a wohoo interest of "No One" which is odd since they're wohooing with practically everyone.
My sims won't woohoo at all bc of the glitch. It's more annoying than I thought it would be.
One of my male sims have woohoo interest of only other male sims... Guess who almost got my female sim pregnant
As a developer it seems to me that there is likely high turnover, understaffing, and a lack of testing protocols. High turnover means code gets written but very soon no one is left who knows why it was written the way it was, how it's structured, etc... it causes these weird avalanches of bugs. Much of the time they'll have simple fixes, with a couple that are due to deeper incompatibilities in different code modules. Ok, end of software dev explanation!
So glad to see the perspective of a dev here.
Are you kidding me. The black photos bug better not be back... dude, my freaking legacy family pictures X____x
The sectional sofas in Dream Home decorator do not work in my game anymore. You can place the sofas, but my Sims do not recognize them as an object. This game is a Trainwreck. 😒
finally someone else having this issue! I thought I was going crazy
Report it as a bug so the team knows
The storage displays from that pack have always bugged out for me. They end up being in my household inventory when I load the game 😅
I've been playing Sims 2 since 2007 when I got my first computer and STILL play it today.
Then Sims 3 was present in my life since 2010 up to 2019. The only reason I don't play it now - purely the lack of storage space. I am looking forward to setting it up again once I replace my SSD.
But Sims 4.... I was so excited in 2014 just to completely abandoned it in 2016. I tried all the mods available, even gave it a chance during the quarantine. But it's just so shallow and underwhelming, not even speaking about the brokenness.
I feel you. I pre-ordered Sims 4 and started playing IMMEDIATELY when they unlocked it on release day. I processed a refund 4 hours later when my newborn transformed into a school aged child right before my eyes and stayed with Sims 3 until a few months ago. Can't wait for them to move on to Sims 5 so we can stop having updates to break our games because that's a really nice thing about 3 that you never need updated mods or anything.
Halo if my computer can play only 1 sims between sims 2 and 3 which one is better?
If your computer has performance issues I'd recommend Sims 2! As much as I love 3, it was only when I got a real gaming rig that I could get the game working well enough. The open-world is pretty demanding.
@@rhymekiI play Sims3 fine on a standard Acer Swift 3 laptop.
I use bucketloads of mods & CC too.
NRAAS could help if your game runs slow.
I'm only speaking from my experience though.
I dont think it was a glitch that the shopping cart kept throbbing! 😂😂 It was an intentional feature duh
I don't even feel like buying anymore packs. It is depressing.
If only people who have been saying this for ages actually stopped, it would mean something
@@PipapiscaI’ve not bought the last 3 expansion packs! I am a really depressed simmer 😭

I want my EA account to reflect there has been no game time spent on Sims4.
I miss maxis 😭 once maxis was gone, EA wrecked the sims
To be fair, ConcernedApe is making it _easier_ for people to create mods and implement them in Stardew in this month's update in a few weeks. The Sims team didn't have to change anything with their mod system at all. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. They need to listen to the fans, stop making damn packs and fix what's broken in the game
Yesterday, I had a social menu issue. I was trying to talk to Lily Feng and the basic options appeared like Friendly, Funny etc, but I didn't have any options after that. I also couldn't use the give gift option or give romantic gift option. After some time, I just had to gift the earrings I made to a sim through selecting them in my inventory. And my game did this really weird thing where every few minutes, it would just freeze and become nonresponsive? I was afraid it would just crash. It went away after restarting the game but who knows if it'll happen again
Concerned Ape is everything EA isn't and I love him for that
We stan Eric Barone in this house
stardew valley is making it easier to mod in areas you couldnt before, sims 4 is already open and easiest game to mod. from what I remember stardew is making it so mods can make Robin build farm buildings on farms from mods, which will be nice since ridgeside gets a giant farm at the end of the quest you can only plant on, so being able to put animals there would be the best
I think they intentionally added code to break mods because they are so tired of modders fixing their mistakes. I haven' played in over a year because of all the bugs. If the Sims community would band together and QUIT BUYING packs, then maybe they would fix them. Class Action Lawsuit maybe???
I actually had this thought too... It seems a bit too convenient.
Literally why can’t the people who complain stop buying sim content I haven’t brought a pack in a game for a year cos I don’t need anything else in my game I’m happy with it 😭
So glad I’m not the only one with this problem, I thought it was my fault and took out my mods to see if it will work. I had no idea, I keep my stuff updated as well😭
no mods break because they update their game, like the more famous ones that break most updates is mccc and ui cheats because they change the most, your just being dumb thinking they hate mods sims 4 is the easiest game to mod, do you know how they can stop mods completely if you think your comment is right? take out the ability to mod, make it as hard as possible. Go and mod GTA, try and figure out that one than come back to sims 4 modding and tell me sims 4 modding is super easy just drag and drop and thats not the modders thats EA who made their game easy to mod. (this rant was because I am sick of people complaining when a update comes out and a mod breaks that its EA wanting to kill the mod, they one don't know every mod in the game and 2 they dont care)
3:43 I think this is perfect proof that EA dissolved the testing department and are leaving the testing up to the consumers and modding community.
We don’t know this. Often bugs slip through the cracks, even with QA. They’re probably just very overwhelmed and prioritize pushing things out. :/
QA is often given a list of things to test. They probably weren't told to play multiple days in a jewelry store. And I imagine the QA testers are over trying to fight for quality, they're just there for their paycheck probably looking for other jobs in their down time n
@@steggopotamus I'm sure that's true for other companies, but I don't believe EA or Maxis has a QA department either. The bugs that get revealed by players are revealed mostly the same day or day after launch.... You're saying their "QA" department can't be bothered or are so busy doing anything other than their job that they can't test their new pack for a single day? Again, I'm sure in the interest of increasing profit margins, EA and Maxis completely gutted their testing and QA departments.... Gotta squeeze every last red cent for more profit, even if that profit costs them an entire franchise.
@@tempurpedic8498 So, then there isn't really a QA department at all if their just pencil whipping approval for new packs to meet a deadline?
I didn't update and I don't intend to until this is fixed.
I literally stopped updating in November last year, pre-For Rent, and have only played offline. I miss out on new mods and I miss the gallery, but I have never regretted a decision less. So sad 😞
Same, I’m still playing offline until most mods are updated
I've not updated since right before werewolves. My game isn't nearly as buggy as everyone else's. Sometimes the mods I download work on my non-updated game. But I think that's sad that it's come to that. Not sure when I'll ever play in online mode again
Sounds like a good idea.
@@xXOpenYourHeart759Xx It is so sad :(
I can't justify spending any money on this game at this point.
It honestly broke my heart to see the game going down hill like this. I wish EA wasn't so greedy, its clear they lost the passion for games you can tell by the quality of it.
I had my sims move to a new house. Built the whole thing and furnished it. When I went to get their photos out of the household inventory to put in their house the game crashed. I can’t touch those photos without it crashing. 😅
If you save all the photos as a gallery room and then add the room to the lot, does it still happen?
Same thing happened to me except it was with one of the chairs from HS years for some reason. I tested it twice to make sure. It doesn't make any sense 😭
This is totally an appease the shareholder move to keep releasing things on a broken game. Simmer still buy the content so they can have it all. While I want to have all the packs, I realize I speak with my dollar and I'm not giving EA anymore until they can fix what is already broken. My Wedding Stories has been out 2 years and it's still not completely fixed. I wish my goth heart didn't love the black wedding arch so much or I'd remove the pack. That said I didn't even bother with the goth kit.
As a console player i havent seen a lot of these bugs but my game has like a dumb red line with no purpose under the cart
I’m very glad to see someone else with that dopey thing on console😑
Yep, on build mode had it now its gone for now
In CAS on console my controller buttons stop working except my left stick 😂 so I have to restart my game to change things AGAIN
Throughout the years I haven't experienced a lot of the most common bugs and glitches, NOW for the first time ever I have EVERY SINGLE BUG you're mentioning. I can't play the game without mods and right now 97% of them are broken, I'm about to lose my mind over pixels
Never a fan of TS4 since it was announced, no patches or packs can fix this dumpster fire of a game.
Yes, that is indeed the case, they do test it and they do find all the bugs, but that doesnt stop them from pushing out the content. At EA that is very common practise. They do like our money first and then they might fix a few bugs.
that's wrong, we test the game than they update the game. Why pay for game testers when your community is so dumb they will test it for free, every complaint on twitter is sent to EA "ah yes, we need to fix this"
Their technical debt is catching up to them as EA wants more money from a 10 year old game with no sequel in sight.

I had a really hard time playing sims 4 after being spoiled by sims 3 for so long. I started playing sims 4 a year ago this December. I’ve put in over 2300 hundred hours since I switched over. As time goes on and I’ve bought packs and update after update I just hate how the game is broken. My sims 3 never did this… I miss having an open world so much. I hate the load screen just to visit the lot next door and what not. Lately my sims can’t even get married, the action goes half way through then they just stand there forever until I have to cancel the action. My milestones disappear after awhile or just don’t show up at all. My sims can’t use the stove anymore the longer I play in one household. Fire every time. I hate my sims can’t go out to eat anymore. My dining out worked fine for the first 5 or 6 times, now the chef just stands outside the restaurant and then leaves. My infants get stuck so when they age up it constantly gives me a notification that they have frequent hiccups and then they glitch out. Those are just a few things that piss me off.. not enough to stop playing but enough to bitch about anyways 😂
One more thing.. when I open a saved game and my infant is outside a block over on the sidewalk 😡🤬🤯
Oh, I thought I was the only one with the bug of the fire every time. Another one I have is that my Sims die of starvation having the hunger bar full. Stupid EA.
there is literally no reason for the shopping cart. like the SECOND you launch the game at the home screen there are the list of packs already in your face to buy
Yeah, the "launcher" was bad enough, why the frick did they have to mangle the game further?
The build mode/walls up or down/floor up and down/ camera etc icons at the top right are broken and completely unreadable. This is something I use a lot so making the game unplayable. Thanks for letting us know about the problems. Satch
EA fix their game like i fix my life. I can relate.
the state of this game is so depressing. completely breaking the game with every update and releasing unusable packs is NOT normal for a multi billion dollar game company. absolutely frustrating given the passion for the franchise by fans and cc/mod creators. the base game isn't even enjoyable without modding the shit out of the game to give it soul and life and buying expansion packs.
I don't even play the sims 4 anymore I haven't bought any content in over a year or two, and this is why, anytime i think of loading it up again, some new problem always arises. It's a shame truly
I used to buy all the DLC, but I'm afraid to buy another pack because the packs are so destructive. My new rules are: wait for a sale, wait for at least 2 patches, and, if possible, wait for pack content to be released for free. I wish they'd focus on fixes.
Same! I always wait for the Expansion packs to be 50% off before buying them. And while I still had barely any packs, I used to buy them in bundles while they were on sale to save even more money! 😆 According to lilsimsie, content creators who are in the EA network (like she is) have a code that you can put it when you purchase the game. It doesn't affect how much the pack costs you, but it takes a small percentage of the profit away from EA and gives it to the content creator instead. 👍
I've always waited for sales, at least half off. Buying a pack full-price has never been worth it, probably the only time it was worth it for me was when Cats & Dogs came out
But I don't even remember if I got that full price or sale
kind of glad to hear its not just me, thought it was just my mods!!! went through all my mods one by one and it took ages, AND IT WASNT ANY OF THEM!
My game just closes after about 10 minutes. No freezing, no window pop up, just closes. My graphics driver is up to date, I’ve repaired my game, I have no mods or cc currently installed, & this only started happening after the update bc the day before the update I played for hours just fine.I’m sure I’d have some of these other bugs if my game would actually stay open.
I have the same problem 😢
Me too. Seems to happen when I open a sims inventory
This happens to me recently too, usually when I try to save or go to manage worlds. It happened once after I was in case for an hour, no issues it just exited. Now if I go into CAS, I have to save the family to my gallery every few minutes to make sure I don't lose them all. Ridculous
Biggest glitch I’ve ever seen was when my sims were woohooing in the shower. The mother / mother-in-law walks in, doesn’t care about what’s going on in the shower and proceeds to start peeing, standing up, (which she was never designated to do.) Then she stopped and left to get a plate of food, comes back into the bathroom and continued to pee standing up while holding the plate. That’s when I realized this game had become unplayable. I have played the Sims franchise since the beginning. It’s had its bugs over the years, of course, but they were possible to work around. I don’t know what to do with this broken mess, I stopped buying DLC because they seem to just be released more and more broken 😢
couldn't agree more with the title.
Thank you for speaking out! I had thousands of hours into my save file and For Rent destroyed it. I have all the other packs, but play vanilla. Maybe EA should pay their Creator Network to trouble shoot new packs before release instead of paying them a commission on sales. It will be a long time before I buy another pack!
bro, it’s been so broken i haven’t played in over a year 😢
I haven't seen anyone talking about this but the BIGGEST bug I've been having is my sims just don't move and stand there looking dumb. Or sometimes they say they cant walk to an area when there is nothing blocking them. Its been driving me mad. 😵💫
The only reason why I'm mad about the code change that broke mods is because it kinda feels intentional. Like yes, Mods aren't their problem. But I'm sure that EA is very aware that PC simmers have CC as an option rather than their packs. CC creators have gave us amazing gameplay and CAS/BB items for much cheaper than EA. I know a lot of simmers who have maybe five packs because they have CC that fits their needs better.
The reason this feels intentionally is because they added the shop icon and then swapped code that broke a bunch of mods.
Of course, its possible that these things have nothing to do with each other. But this is how i see it
good point, i wonder if this is a coincidence or not
I honestly don't think the pulsating shopping cart was actually a bug. I think they got such a huge push back that they were like, ummm we need to do something to make this less of a problem. So they called it a bug and got rid of the pulsating but overall kept the hated feature.
I just saw the video about the new kit leaks and was confused when you started to talk about the game being broken but then I had a flashback to when I decided to play the Sims for the first time in 2024 only to open my game and the menu when you click on the Sims not to show up so I thought it was my mods but I got so upset after spending hours on cas and in build mode that I closed the game lol.
What I don’t get is that modders can create fixes for EA’s bugs in days or a week, but EA can’t fix issues like wedding stories, plants regressing, and terrain paint disappearing even though those issues have been a problem for YEARS. What’s worse is that when the Sims updates, modders have to redo the fixes again. The poor modders 😢
I’ve just recently started playing again after a few years and man everything is just stripped away. I remember when you used to be able to parent your toddlers and teach them things that came directly with the game but now it’s a pack so now all you get with the free game is just the worst parts of parenting. And it’s bugged out so bad my sim won’t do anything I tell them to
can't play ts4 at all rn because all the top navigation options (like gallery, build mode etc) overlap each other 🙃
YOu have your mods out of order. thats easy to fix. Do you have wickedwhims? Bet its not in the right MOds folder and thats what happens.
oh ok 🤔 well i have to check that then, but i don't really have any mods, just a few cc.
A lot of cc and mods broke the UI somehow, I’d recommend looking for updated versions :)
Looks like you have the UI cheats extension mod. Get the latest version ASAP. Have that mod, HAD the corruption that you mention and updating it solved the issue AND removed the shopping cart button entirely.
For me it was wicked whims that messed up my computer like that it was in the wrong folder@@Kualinar
Used the EA app to buy Sims 3 and some packs just to play for nostalgia and literally nothing worked. I downloaded Sims 3, only one expansion pack I bought showed up, I tried everything I could to troubleshoot, then I just uninstalled. After that it was asking me to buy the game again! I immediately went to EA and got a refund for the full order because this is ridiculous! Their app is broken, they keep breaking their games. It’s just sad to see really especially since I’ve been a fan for so long 😭
The patch also broke a ton of script mods. So the mods people used to fix the game, also broke. Sigh. I was excited over the Crystal pack. But know I don't feel like I want another buggy pack to the list of buggy packs in my game.
Edit. I should have watched to the end before commenting. Anyhow, from what I've heard the issue with mods seems to be connected with how the game recognizes pack. EA overhauled this grouping which is why so many mods broke. If you have every pack though, it could still work.
I also wonder about Project Rene and Project Dolores. Why two new "Sims games"? While still maintaining the Sims 4? I'm not sure how that'll work out.
The photography glitch has been around for a while :( It happened to me last year but ALL my photos went black- all the stuff on my walls, in museums etc. Then it happened again straight after I got For Rent. Literally aged down sims the last time it happened so I could retake pictures, I saved lots and rooms with photos to my gallery, did everything to avoid it.
Guess what? All the lots I saved to my PERSONAL LIBRARY disappeared. So all my efforts to back up and prevent it from happening were wasted. Every photo gone. I don't even understand how my own library could delete things autonomously. I was devastated. Took a xanax and slept for 12 hours. An overreaction, yes, but my legacy families meant the world to me. Playing The Sims doesn't hit the same anymore. I've been mostly playing Sims Medieval but even that has a glitch where you have to save as a new file every time or it deletes all your progress
Did you take pictures of those pictures?
I 100% know what it's like to not feel like playing a game anymore without all the progress that you worked so hard for.
Gifting is actually a great way t get your relationships up, depending on how you gift it (i.e. romantically, funny, etc.) Love watching your vids Satch!!!
I gave up. I was playing with the Smith family (you know, the Alien dad who had two children's with his father-in-law?) and suddently a work event made Pol. Tech 9 and Jenny forget they are married and they lost ALL of their milestones. And I played with Jenny since she was a baby... I was so upset. They still consider themselves married, but they had no memories of it and the marriage doesn't appear in the genealogical tree.
Great... I just started a new supersim save, where I am trying to get all the milestones too... Now I am afraid to open it.
No way am I purchasing Sims 5 with this trajectory on top of how much I’ve already invested into Sims 4 for them to likely just rehash and charge us for the same packs and even more microtransactions and glitches in whatever is coming. Truly hoping it’s a genuine “Renaissance” worth paying and being excited for
What they should focus on right now is bugfixes and actually testing those before releasing them, pack cross-compatibility and fixing the gallery. No new content right now, just give us back the old one that they took from us with the bugs from the new content that also doesn't work as it should be.
EA won't fix any of the gaming problems but was quick to put that damn shopping cart on the upper right side of the screen and it's not freezing at all the annoying green dot on it works perfectly 😒
It would be amazing if someone tested their products before release, it's an expensive pile of bugs. Probably it's too expensive for them
EA games does "challenge everything." When they're told their games are a buggy broken mess, they find new ways to break it even more.
I was away from the sims 4 for quite a while before I never experienced bugs and other issues but when I came back to the latest updated version my Sims are constantly bugging out refusing to follow my commands and just standing there for hours, Sometimes they would even disappear and reappear in a different location oh and lets not forget about some furnishings disappearing into my inventory.
I call a The SIms 4 a "kickstarter"... like they just gathering money for the plain boring uncompleted packs just to gather money for The Sims 5 which gonna be the biggest microtransaction scamming game existing.
The only problem as far as the game itself was the singing skill glitch that if it were higher than level 5 you couldn't click on your own sim and had to cheat it below level 5 so that your sim could do stuff. Other than that all my problems were my mods that were severely broken because of the update. I don't know why the game turned out so bad with the latest patch and how it broke so bad but dear god, get it together EA 😂
Just last night I finally got Ambrosia for my ghost sim, had her eat it and someone talked to her before she could ressurect, canceling the action... wtf
I still haven't opened my game since last week's cart fiasco. I own everything except the new crystal pack. It's all a big NOPE for me.
I was about to play, 'cause I found time today, but no thanks..... I have no need for headaches 😂
Same
I think we have every reason to be mad at EA for their appalling management of literally everything ever.
I ran into all of these glitches. The social menu not appearing is fixable by getting rid of all mods and slowly reintroducing them, checking they are stable and compatible one by one.
Unfortunately for EA the entire reason I use mods is because their game is in such a shoddy, unfinished and unfun state I have to fix it myself. So they are not getting any free passes here.
i tried to play yesterday for the first time in a week and my game crashed within 10 minutes of trying to play the save I've been working on for the past few months. i was already gonna stop buying packs but after that i'm just even more frustrated with this game and will probably stop playing in general for a while. sims team needs to get it together. at least fix that damn weeding bug !!!!
Man I was so excited to play this pack specially that I finally had the time to do it and when I couldn't find the social menu and couldn't pull out the weed from my garden (my sim would just be standing there with their little vacuum not doing anything) that was enough I'll just going to wait like a month for all of the problems to be fixed
i'm sorry there's been an INCEST BUG ??
Yeah sims just didn't have any limits to romantic interactions including with their own children
I love your laugh. The only positive thing about this video lmao. Man, I don't know if I ever would play Sims 5, unless the Sims Team really put their hearts in that game. I'm waiting for Paralives and Life by you. And the other one with high quality graphic.
Stopped playing TS4 and sticking to TS2. Over 20 years older and still waaay better, even without mods.
I love the sims, too. I love them so much that I do what I must to keep them. That's why I avoid downloading malware. Last thing idownloaded was the bg update before 4rent. My game is running super. No shopping cart, social pie exists, no currupted save files, no broken mods.
They should fix the packs that don't work like My Wedding Stories before they put out anymore new content.
Absolutely!! Why are they pushing out new stuff when they know damn well that there are existing packs in desperate need of fixing?
You can already disable packs in the EA app, however you seemingly have to do it every time you load into the app which is frustrating
i don't know if this is finally the fall of the sims 4 (i doubt it) but the way I've seen video after video concerning the bugs and problems of this broken ass game, I am tired...
im so heartbroken
Console player here. My biggest issue has been my game just tandomly crashing and my sims not following instructions CONSTANTLY after getting crystal creations.
The Sims 4 has been a mess since its announcement and release. And many of its expansions and stuff packs have been buggy as hell and never fixed. I can't wait for all the new upcoming life sim games.
I have bad luck with bugs. Every time the game updates, it breaks my game in nearly unplayable ways, but it won’t let me launch the game without updating the game, so I have no choice but to deal with a broken game. I’m seriously considering not playing anymore because it’s so frustrating.
the only good thing about the sims being AWFUL is being able to watch your precious face
We need a full game over haul that gets everything to work well together then release it as a collector's edition.
I downloaded sims medieval and have been offline since before the first update because I had a bad feeling about it. Nice to know that anxiety is useful when it wants to be.
Well if EA would quit breathing down the backs of the Guru’s,and let them do their job’s things might go better. I agree that there needs to be a pause, on release so they can concentrate on all the bugs. We already know EA wants their money over it all. I too noticed the comments being off.
I remember the incest glitch. I had a family with a mom, daughter and step dad and for the loooonnggeesst time out of nowhere the stepdad had HARD thoughts about woohoo with the daughter. Couldn't make it go away. They never did anything thank GOD but I was kinda creeped out for a while.
Stepdad with stepdaughter technically isn't incest. It's still gross but it's not incest.
If players won’t stop buying packs then EA won’t stop butchering the game since all they care about is money. Too bad Sims players are so manipulated that they will continue buying packs
The current glitch I am dealing with is I cannot move people into my house by asking them to move in/getting married to them. The game basically freezes on the moving screen, so I have to save, reload, and then add them in from the edit world menu.
Is your sim in a single household?
This happens when you try to move in a sim in a single household without any other sims in it. I had to move my sim in with the other sim, (I didn't sell my furniture so I kept everything), and then had them move back in to the original household and re-decorate it.
@@kpoppy9635
Single sim from a sim not in the world.
@KitsuKyo yeah the game doesn't recognize the household so you have to move your sim in with them, move them to another lot and then move them back in to your original lot.
They do know it’s broken, but they act like they fixing something but in reality, they don’t care about it, just when sims 5 was announced they instantly made announcement covering the packs of the sims 5… like- and their idea of it it’s soo dumb. Paralives wont even have expansion packs 😭
it also looks like shit
mods aren’t official but EA sure does love to fall back on them to make the game functional and piggyback off their coding. that combined with them never stepping in regarding mod/CC paywalling (which goes directly against their terms of service) i believe they’re complicit in mod creation to the point where modders should be considered when releasing patches. i think it’s just another slap in the face that they do not really care about their players. they change the coding of the game for literally no reason (because everything is still releasing broken) and break the only way most players are even able to get the game to FUNCTION correctly not just enhance & add gameplay. it’s absurd.
Project Renee reminds me of EA's multi-player push for the next DragonAge sequel. After Anthem and how Mass Effect: Andromeda fully collapsed after the reveal that there were no plans for single player DLCs for the game, you'd think they would have learned.
I literally couldn't even get into my game. As soon as I went into my world it would kick me out of the game. I had to delete all of my cc and it finally let me in BUT i lost all my sims. The world was completely empty 😢 my years of hardwork...
I’m so sorry that’s horrible!
I'm sorry this happened, I can't even imagine 💔 Doesn't help you now, but I usually do a backup save for the save files before I do an update, saved me a few times. Once, when my save file vanished. I also upload all of my Sims to the gallery under my own hashtag, just in case!
If I knew from the start that I could play only with couple packs in Sims 3 I would never bought them. And Sims 4 is so shallow that I can't imagine playing only few packs.
I still play sims 3 on the EA application bc Sims 4 on my console just is always bugging :(
I personally loooveee your honesty so please continue to be real ! You are who i go to for honest reviews on sims 4 thank you!!
I uninstalled Sims 4 a month ago and put in every single previous game AND I still have room to spare. WITH mods! And I have zero regrets. I can just play and not worry about bugs, patches and updates breaking things. I tell you, it is the best decision I ever made. One day, when the game is finished and hopefully fully fixed and functional with mods (hello NRAAS and the like), then I will put it back into my system and play it.
