Sometimes if it’s our first time hu plig or we are still learning the words, it takes a while because your words have to have intention and energy. Even if you mess up, as long as your words have strong intention. Each time I practiced I got more confident. When I got confident was when the egg stood up really well and the spirit came back strongly. But if you keep trying and trying, and the egg still doesn’t stand up, it might not be the right time/not necessary/ or a different ritual is needed. That’s what I’ve gotten.
Keep calling until it does, the door should be ajar a littel bit when calling, also if you are having a hard time getting it to stand up then you will need to use the egg in rice method.

You want to use something that is transferable, able to take in soul energy as well as expell it out. A medium type of nature made, not man made and something that cannot transfer soul energies. It would be advisable to have another person do it for you, sometimes that other connection/helps your spirit to return home easier. if you have fallen, a helping hand is needed. It was not an actual soul calling for someone, just demonstration so no name was used.

Yes you can redo, until you are able to call it correctly back
