  • I had a little bit of fun with my editing this week and experimented with a few 'arty' sort of shots! Tell me what you think!
In today's block tutorial we focus on how to make the uber-tradtional Broken Dishes Block. Pieced together using just four HSTs*, this block is super simple and is perfect for beginners who are ready to move on from piecing squares!
    *HSTs = Half Square Triangles
    Measurements & Cutting Instructions...
    From the GREY fabric cut:
    x2: 5" squares
    From the PRINTED fabrics cut:
    x1: 5" square of each
The finished size of the block is around 22cm square or 8&5/8" square.
Things I used in this video*:
Printed Fabrics: 'Piccadilly' fabric range by DS Quilts Collection
    Clover Finger Presser: goo.gl/IOXilY
    Brother Innovis 200QE sewing machine
Fiskars rotary blades, cutting mats and scissors
    Sew Easy quilting rulers
Do you have any quilt blocks you'd love for me to demonstrate? I'm currently in the midst of organising my tutorials schedule for next year and would love to add your suggestion to the list! Comment below with your marvellous idea! :D

Amanda, I am so excited to have found your tutorials. I love the way you present your different blocks, you actually go slow enough for me to follow and not feel frustrated. The only problem is trying to figure out which Block ( quilt) I want to make . I am a beginner quilter, but I don't feel unsure or scared to try the blocks in your tutorials. Thank you so much for sharing your talent. I have decided to make this block as my next quilt !

@Amanda M Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Yeah, I do all my own editing and filming. It took a while to get used it but I'm finally at a place were I feel confident about experimenting and playing around with all of the elements in iMovie.
I LOVE polka dots too! I only got this ironing board for the cover! (As you do!) :D

Thank you for the perfectly put together tutorial! I love your new intro, do you do your own video editing? Lastly, love the fabric on your pressing station, I have a slight polka dot obsession!

I know this is kinda stupid question but where did you buy the fabric pins

alia Craft No question is stupid to ask!!
The pins I use when piecing are called Flat Head or Flower Head Quilting Pins. The plastic bit at the top is melt resistant so that you can iron over them if need be and they won't melt! I bought them at my local craft/haberdashery store.
      Hope this helps! :)
