    If you have scrupulosity, there’s a channel called Catholic OCD I been watching where a priest that specializes in scrupulosity makes videos about what it’s like and how to manage it. Very good and helpful, I’m scrupulous myself and his videos have helped a lot! The priest’s name is Father Santa :) God bless y’all

      some of his videos have been helpful, but he also says some things that i find rather concerning. in one of his videos he says that thoughts cannot be sinful, and that is a rather harmful thing to tell people. i saw some comments on that video calling him out for it, and he replied and just insulted the people.

    My difficulty as a new Catholic is that all the “examination of conscience” lists I find from church websites are different. One seems to list one thing as a grave offense while another would say it’s venial. My son just converted and is having great difficulty and frustration with this as well.

    Another distinction to make is the difference between temptation and sins of thought and that a persistent temptation is not a sin whereas by contrast one's continuous resistance and trust in God's grace to help one resist is virtuous.
    By extension, there's no need to confess temptations, tempting as it may be. Conflating temptations with sins of thought shows a lack of awareness of this subject and a lack of training to discern carefully and calmly to distinguish one from the other.
    Unfortunately, many don't seem to know this, especially those with delicate consciences. Sadly, some priests I met simplisticly assumed that some penitents were all scrupulous which is an easy and lazy way to treat the problem of confusing these things.
    Many thanks, Father. Blessings upon your soul and life.

    This doesn't help much, because it doesn't answer the question - is [insert grave offense] a mortal sin for me?

      @@pearlescobar9449 thanks, yes I watch it. The problem is that, at the core, we still don't know how to discern mortal from venial sin. If I masturbated, but I felt compelled by my passions, is it mortal or venial?

    Sound advice. Try finding a Spiritual Director though; they are as rare as hens' teeth for the laity.

      Praying that a priest comes into your life that can provide great Spiritual Direction. They are out there!

      I think listening to Relevant Radio (also available online) is a good substitute. Sure wish they still had Fr. John Corapi on!

    Seek therapy. If it's a emotional, only a therapist can get rid of it.
    Good book also. "Saints and scruples"

      Therapy may help some, but sometimes the therapists don't have the knowledge to do so whereas the Divine Physician Who can raise the dead can surely enlighten any soul to see how to disentangle irrational thoughts from confusing himself and the strength of will to detach from a bad habit of entertaining such bad thoughts.
      Also, many therapists simply prescribe drugs to treat spiritual problems, but can never ultimately heal spiritual problems with drugs.
      Where there's a will there's a way. We defend on God's grace, but His healing isn't imposed. It requires our cooperation even as a physiotherapist requires the cooperation of the patient to be healed.

    Why Jesus died on the cross?

    • @EDTS_0
      @EDTS_0 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      so he could save us from hell, taking our punishment on the cross for our sins. If he hadnt died for us, then he couldnt save us, which shows his love for us

    • @loveandideas

      Jesus died on the cross and already saved all sinners from the consequence of sin or, He died on the cross so he could save us from it later?

    • @EDTS_0
      @EDTS_0 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@loveandideas basically its like if someone in court was to know what punishment you were to get for a crime you committed and then after came to the court and offered it as taking your punishment for you, either you can accept it or you can reject it and thus go to hell having to face the punishment for your crime yourself

    • @EDTS_0
      @EDTS_0 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      (and then after doing the punishment came to the court) i should have said

    • @loveandideas
      @loveandideas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No one wants to be punished, no one wants to suffer, no one wants to die. Do you know someone who wants that? Even those who kill themselves they do that not because they want to die but because they don't want to suffer.
      God already knows it.

    Got scruples? No worries. They have a vaccine for that.
