    Here's a look at my Native Tank with the new Dace (Notropis spp.). I really like the way they look when they school, so adding more fish will be even better.

    I think the minnows are called Eastern Blacknose dace

    It's amazing how the addition of 'busier' fish can change the feel of at tank. 😊 👍

    Those minnows look rather stylish! Simple, but still showing off a little with that black stripe. And of course all kinds of minnows tend to be lively and entertaining, which is 90% of their charm anyway.

    Very pretty! I didn't know one could keep minnows in a fishtank. Those minnows are really cool!

    I had some blacknose dace myself, but I added a sunfish too the tank that was sick and all but one died. Might get some more.

    Yeah i have a 3ft fish tank i used a method to catch them in 1h so i got like 50 of them minnows i put 40 back into the river i was at and took 10 of them for my fish tank put them in keep in mind at the time the temperature in the river was the same temperature as my fish tank anyways, they got used to the tank in 17hs thats mad for a wild fish but then again when they know ur the food source they will become your best friend

    Should toss in some cucumber slices. And l loving that your shiners are much more active and moving around and darting about from place to place in the tank now that the chubs are gone and they're not just schooling with them most of the time. They may be the more aggressive fish in the tank now but unless you see them start tearing apart that crayfish or the neutropis species you can probably live with that.
    And what about my ideas? It'd change up the tank quite a bit and could give you ideas to keep it busy. Temptations with the cucumber slices will encourage the crayfish to come out and get a slice for himself as well as be a good treat for the rest of em.

    G'day Dan. Loving the new minnows. Yes, to getting a few more. Tank is looking so awesome. Is a Polarizing Filter an option available to assist with glare? Not a problem at all, though. Your vids are great. All the best. Cheers

    Those minnows look like black nosed dace. I have them in my aquarium too. These fish are very active and fun to watch. But they are jumpers, so you need a cover on the tank.

    I've got some minnows from Scotland in a native tank. They look quite similar to yours, but I think my species is the Eurasian minnow. The body shape and fins on the ones in my tank are slightly different, markings are similar: th-cam.com/video/78WC_UAUo58/w-d-xo.html

      @nicholasgordon4999 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@aephspore3341 They are okay between 2 and 20 degrees Celsius - so most of the year round it isn't a problem. I keep them in the garage so they stay relatively cool in the Summer and I have a heater connected to a temperature controller should it get really cold in the Winter. I normally set it to about 11 degrees in the Winter to prevent massive temperature swings overnight.

    How do you keep the wild minnows alive? Once I transfer them into the bucket from the trap. They last a few mins and then start to perish. I even had a few survive and I threw the survivors in the tank with plenty of oxygen but they died also. Any tricks or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks so much. Anyone please help me.

      @@DanHiteshew-oneandonly I do half water from the pond and half the fish tank. The minnows don’t last but the shiners do. Are the minnows very fragile? This is the first time I saw minnows in the pond. Shiners are common, minnows arrived mystery. I have the air stone in my bucket. Trying to keep them as less stressed as possible. The shiner love blood and tublix worms

      @@bmp902 I don't know what species of fish you're talking about, so I can't say. "Minnow" just means it's a toothless schooling fish. While it usually refers to smaller species of fish, carp are considered minnows too, so there's a lot of fish that could be called "minnows"
