- (IN RESEARCHING THIS MALL I CAME ACROSS SOME FALSE INFORMATION. SO I WANTED TO CORECT IT AND UPDATE THE VIDEO)
It's time for an emergency trip to Chicago to see this incredible mall before it's gone. This is the Golf Mills Mall in Niles Illinois. Let's head inside before the malls redevelopment. Well see the newer updated section, weird office tower in the middle and a frozen in time 70's wing. This mall is set for redevelopment in the near future so by now it's probably gone.

This mall was packed when I was a kid in the 90s and even through the 2000s and early 2010s. They had a nice arcade in the 90s, candy store with tons of beanie babies when that was the big craze, huge lines to sit with Santa in winter… Sad that it is now a ghost town.
Note that the reason for the name "Golf Mill" was that the mall was located at the intersection of Golf Rd. and Milwaukee Ave.. The water wheel was one of my favorite places to visit as a young child.
Yeah I wish I could have seen that and thanks for the info.
The real OGs would remember the bowling alley that was in the parking lot by JC Penny’s.
With the pizza place inside! Made with oregano instead of basil. It was the best!!
So many birthday parties there
Its so sad to see the state of it now. Growing up I remember when the theater was seperate where that workout place is now. They also had a grocery store in the backlot area.
This was one of my childhood malls. I haven't been there in forever. I live in Chicago but I don't drive. The last time I was there, I saw "Kingsmen". Wonderful video!
Thanks glad you enjoyed. WOW being able to live and not need to drive must me nice.
All the fun memories I had when I was younger. Eating panda express after shopping with my family. I hope this mall doesn’t die ❤
Unfortunately it is going to close and be redeveloped into golf mills town center according to the malls website. 😭 so a dumb mixed use thing I’m sure.
This video is freaking incredible bro!
Thanks
I remember when they enclosed the mall and I went there the first week it opened up I was with a friend and that mall looks so beautiful back then the revamping was great, but I’m noticing with almost all malls are looking this way throughout the whole country but yeah when this small open it was so nice or should I say reopened in fact when it was an outdoor mall that’s where I bought my prom dress laughing out loud but the mall is definitely state of the art for its time.
@@tracyroth-myers5574 I wish I could have seen that.
Totally cool revisiting
Glad you enjoyed it
i went to this mall as a kid when taking trips from iowa to chicago so sad to see it doing bad
@@sarahsmull5069 all the malls are going to close in Chicago due to all the illegals pouring in causing violence and theft at the malls.
Thinking about coming here in the fall! Hope they keep it some parts of 2025 especially the golf mill professional building with the Otis touch sensitive buttons!
Better go now before it’s all gone
I used to go when it was open air. Shopped at Jackies Circle, Albert K, Woolworth. Vwhen I was 13 /14 years old I'd go to JCPs candy counter and get 25 cents worth of m&m's or the red died pistachios, The candy lady would scoop them into a white paper bag. I'd then go sit by the water mill and people watch. Went to the Mill Run theater now and then too.
The Panera Bread was to your left behind you, when you were outside by the butterfly garden.
Sad to go there now. Feel sorry for all those trying to make a living. The biggest "F" was when someone decided to choke the Mall right in the middle when Sears left, like saying: die, die now! Not the brightest idea, although I think it was intentional, as if telling the other retailers and their customers, "Get out!"
@@GACOMO7660007 yeah it sucks
R.I.P. golf mill
Any idea when this mall is gonna close? Thinking of coming here in the winter.
I heard it was going to close anytime now but that was a few months ago when I visited and I believe it’s still open. I would go sooner than latter.
GOLF MILL, not "MILLS". I grew up near there it was never called MILLS, EVER!!!!!
Well it’s 2024 now and they said they will make it alive again
@@Vondized who said this because I’m pretty sure the mall is going to close and be redeveloped. 🤷🏼♂️
