Just because they were blitzing at a high rate doesn't mean that they were scheming up the blitz well. The blitz lack disguise, and creativity. Remember Tori when you kept saying where is Kayden Ellis. He had one game where he really took over. Ryan Nielsen knows how to use him. And knows how to scheme effectively for his skill set, especially when blitzing with him. Just an example showing Jamie Lake does not.

I said it all over and over again. The reason why a lot of the players on the front seven are not winning up front. Is because of the rush Lanes. Or lack of creativity when it comes to blitzing. Add this lends to the scheme. Matthew Judon has never looked so poorly. Grady Jarrett is also having probably one of his worst seasons. Lorenzo Carter is a non-existent. I could go on. When you have this much bad play it falls on the shoulders of the defensive coordinator and the defensive line coach. But I think the scheme takes most of the blame. The way he is drawing up the blitz. Or the way he schemes their rush lanes is very lackluster and obvious. But you all are ignoring this fact.

Right...Tori gave a BS answer to that first question about the defense.

it is the DL coach, he was ass with the Chargers (known to be the easiest Team to run on and struggling to get anything from the inside) and now he continues his "work" in this building. We have a Position evaluation problem. It shows with players too: i have no idea why someone like Carter and Grant getting snaps atm, when their replacements looked leagues ahead.
And i agree with your take on the rushing/ blitzing lanes. It looks too complicated what they are doing, there is no initial push, it is a waiting game with too many gap responsibilities. If you compare it to last season you can see it immediately. Everything doesn't look decisive and fast enough.

Even if we draft a pass rusher. Jimmy Lake as a first-time player caller is not the best. So you will still have the same issues. I keep beating this over the head the defensive issues start with the defensive scheme and defensive philosophy.

Yup, some rookie DCs take time to adjust their scheme but you can see it getting better. I remember Demeco Ryan as DC for the 49ers. He had some struggles at the beginning but the adjustments he made worked. The Falcons should have hired a DC with experience considering they already have a new OC. Just look at what Fangio is doing with the Eagles defense, one of worst defenses last season.
