Wonderful to see Alba get a chance to show her trumpet skills. She's a fabulous singer but her trumpet skills are not to be sneezed at either I think she's the next musician to graduate from the SAJB and move straight into an international career not unlike the one Andrea set out on. In spite of the exposure Alba has received recently, I believe she is still underestimated. A true star in the making 👏👏👏❤❤❤
Because Alba's singing is so good, sometimes it's easy to forget what a great trumpet player she is. The girl's got some serious chops! And nice job by everyone else, with special shout-outs to Carla & Pablo. More please!
I was scrolling through the comments while Alba was singing. Then came the trumpet solo. I quickly scrolled back up to see who the professional guest was. It was Alba! Without meaning to, I did my own blindfold test, and blew it.
@@bobburford I was watching again, and I noticed during the duets that Dick looks like he's staring down at the music while he's playing, paying close attention. Alba, on the other hand, either is looking straight ahead, or has got her eyes closed, not needing the music at all. And this was not an easy piece!
@@chanelops In his defense, Alba and the rest of the SAJB have weeks to months to work out a solo. I would be surprised if the guest stars get the music more than 3 days ahead.

Wow, I don't know if I would rather hear Alba play the trumpet all day or listen to her sing all day!!! It's a toss up!!!
Alba's trumpet solo is so 😎 cool
The best part is that look shared by Dick and Alba right at the end, spanning three generations of wonderful jazz.
Don't forget that some time during this same gig she wowed Dick with her vocal on Dahhood. I don't know which number came first but after both ot them, he knew Alba was coming on!

Watching Alba's improvement over the years playing with SAJB is proof of Joan's idea of having a youth jazz band is the right idea. I think back on my experience on learning the trumpet and it pales in comparison to Alba's. She plays so much better than I did at a comparable age. Again kudos to Joan Chamorro, Alba, Carla and the others.

I was pleasantly surprised by the solos - often very good, but Alba's was the best I've heard from her yet. Joan, Carla and Dick also great as often before. Jump in, Alba: you've got the chops!

I had heard Alba sing a lot recently but had not heard her play the trumpet in a long time - wonderful sound and a nice solo - kudos Alba! (Yes and the rest of the band of course, special thought for the rhythm section). Added : and a happy smile at the end :-)
Alba & Carla play so smooth and effortless!!! Hard to believe they’ve been in SAJB over a dozen years, that experience really shows!! Codina and Mr. Oatts were excellent! Great job Mr. C. and company, keep up the great work and stay safe!🙏🏽👏

Emocionante el "solo" de Alba Armengou... gran "fraseo", un sonido cálido y dueña de una fuente inagotable de ideas musicales. Un aplauso interminable para estos discípulos del "maestro" Joan Chamorro, desde Chile.

Alba’s come a long way since “Give Me a Swing Song.” She’s a lioness!
What a great smooth fast tune. Solos good by all and the timing of the band perfect.
I'll highlight Alba's trumpet which for me had the real smooth interpretation that stays close to the melody with high speed notes in perfect intensity - soft, quick, smooth and takes me right along with the tune. This song showcases her ability on the trumpet nicely, top shelf.
Carla's solo though shorter had the same effect on me - soft quick notes following close to the melody that carried me with seamless entry and exit, sweet.
Love these young people and the band and the guests - Dick and others. About to take a quick snooze after working in a hot attic - put me in a good mood.

Great combo work. Wonderful solos -- young and old. Somehow, about half the time, the piano was registering straight off my left shoulder. (My speakers are in front of me. Cool effect.) Fine way to start the month.

Me encantan estos temas jazzisticos que dan para el lucimiento en solos de muchos instrumentos. Creo que es el auténtico espíritu del jazz: improvisación, compañerismo y mucho feeling entre los músicos.
Por supuesto que también hay status, así que el super consagrado saxofonista Dick Oatts se lleva la mayor parte del protagonismo, pero ahí están también los magníficos solos de Alba Armengou (Trompeta), Joan Codina (Trombón), Carla Motis (Guitarra), y Pablo Ruiz (Bateria), cuatro de los mejores productos salidos de la factoría Chamorro. Y si además les acompañan en la orquesta un trío de saxos como Marçal Perramón, Alba Esteban y Joan Martí, pues para qué decir más.
Otro tesoro a la colección.

Como siempre: impecable el conjunto. Pero los solos de Alba y Carla... unas perlas! Cerras los ojos, escuchas, y cuando llega la trompeta, y luego lo mismo con la guitara, sentis un goce que imprime una sonrisa en tu rostro que perdura lo que dura el solo. Por suerte estas solo, y nadie para decir :"Y a este que le pasa'"

Mr Oatts has been crossing the ocean for 10 years to play with the SAJB. Who wouldn't come! For him it's a magic potion.
One of his other gigs is on the faculty of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Once the pandemic has been beaten, can he and Terrel Stafford bring some of these folks to Philadelphia. (I'm pushing, it's where I live.)

Jack Schneiberg I think he doesn’t ‘find’ them, but rather produces them through nurture, year after year... it’s amazing indeed! And lots of hard work too :)
