@@onyeilonyeil9468separation of church and state is not found anywhere in the constitution. It was simply in a letter that Thomas Jefferson wrote, and he was speaking about keeping the government from taxing and influencing the church, not to keep the church out of the state. I have my own construction business, and i get most of my business from landlords that rent based on affirmative action, and let me tell you, they need to repeal that garbage. Landlords should absolutely be able to be picky and choosy with who they allow to live in their property. Government should not have any place in that. Just like a business can turn anyone away for any reason. So many people live so disgustingly and don't have any respect for other people's property. And then you can't even sue them because they don't have anything to go after anyway. Affirmative action is garbage. Especially after the eviction ban. Once they lifted that, all those people that didn't act responsibly got mad when they got kicked out finally and tore up so many houses. It's absolutely disgusting the way some people live. And it's always one type of people, from my experience. Always.
The Bible. We legislate morality based off the Bible. Yet men being men and sinful quickly learned we can make so many laws that eat off freedoms little by little as no one pays attention. Pass laws with 80% good with 20% evil. 80% is being generous.
But many in the field of politics are all satanic atheist. Meaning there not doing it for God. They could also be Christian and be doing the work of the devil as well .
We are a Republic, not a democracy. So issues of great moral significance should not be left up to a majority vote. Like the one student said, there wasn't even majority support at the time, so the idea that it WAS a democratic decision is a sham

A person who is against is an Atheist, a person who doesn't believe but says it is possible or just doesnt know who is right is Agnostic.
vulpix heh, I think that's one of the appeals of Christianity for many people raised in that culture, they can simply ask Jesus for forgiveness and then feel better about themselves knowing he's forgiven them :-)
John Love That's a good question John. I would say a guy needs to feel he is accountable. Not that he's not accountable to anyone, or even that he's not accountable. We are all responsible for our own actions. If I wrong somebody it's up to me to somehow make amends for my wrongdoing, and to accept that guilt, also maybe ask for forgiveness from that person. And the person I have wronged is under no obligation to forgive me if he chooses not to. Guilt is very much a human emotion. I wonder if it's an emotion that Jesus ever felt?, if not, then perhaps he doesn't fully comprehend the human condition. Don't get me wrong, forgiveness is a very admirable trait in a human being, it's possibly one of the best teachings of Jesus. If you can learn to forgive those who have wronged you it will make you a much better person. As I said John, i think many Christians find the aspect of knowing Jesus will forgive them quite appealing, they can absolve themselves of the guilt. I may well be wrong.
bonnie43uk I think you are comiting the taxicab fallacy. It has various definitions but it basically refers to switching worldviews in a same or course of arguments. If you keep in mind the fallacy, let us discuss it further. The point we were making was not what is real but what is appealing. If you are a theist, most probably you believe that you are accountable to at least one being. If you are an atheist you know you are not to anyone. Which is more appealing? When you commit wrong, you make up for it according to a measure you feel is appropriate. That is like a man deciding his crime, his punishment and his guilt. The other guy may not forgive you, but his stance does not affect you in any way except emotionally and because you choose to let it affect you. If you convince yourself that you did right or you made up for it, you would supress guilt. That however does not make your measures good enough. So what will appeal to me as a criminal? That I have to admit I was wrong and ask for forgiveness or that I can think I'm not or even if I think that, I can say make up for that according to my own standards. It is like saying that an office has a dress code and that code is that everyone can choose what to wear. It is not really a dress code then. Did Jesus felt guilty? I don't know how much he knew what guilt was. But you can simply know what it is like to be feel guilty by observing others. I don't have to be in a road accident to feel that a wheel crushing my bones will feel awful. And if Jesus is God, he knows guilt to be what he made it to be. The problem is that even if most Christians feel the prospect of Jesus forgiving them appealing, what you have to see is that prospect of admitting a wrong, and prospect of asking for forgiveness is not quite appealing. Secondly to ask for forgiveness, you have to realise first you have to admit it is really worth to feel guilty about. So even in prospect of absolving them of guilt, they admit wrong for what it is. No person is absolved of consequences of an action, not a theist nor an atheist. But absolution from consequeces is not what ideally theist seeks. He seeks absolution from sin. Both an atheist and a theist know that if they kill someone they will go to jail. A theist asks forgivenesss to absolve him of guilt of transgressing God and righteousness, for an atheist these do not exist as an abstract with real identity except for their own projection. A guilt of theist is more than that of an atheist and forgiveness is for that "extra" part.
The Bible does _not_ endorse slavery in any way, shape, or form, and Christians are the ones who abolished slavery in the US. The kicker is that the believer in atheist Dogma actually "gets" the logic, which is a very rare occurrence! =) The first conversation was a little frustrating because the student blatantly misrepresented Cliffe's point about favoring God's law over majority opinion, and then immediately ran away -- typical intellectually dishonest believer in atheist Dogma. Having said that, I would like to point out that there is no chapter or verse in the Bible that states that same-sex marriage could somehow be wrong or less valid than different-sex marriage. The single verse that Cliffe cites in this connection does _not_ say that -- not by any stretch of the imagination. I respect Cliffe's right to be of that personal opinion, but claiming that the Bible says that is just flat out incorrect, and is just that -- his own personal opinion. It is not scriptural. My heart hurts for you, I'm not sure what happened, (if she met your child) but there's a good chance you all (including your child) may be reunited one day together. God is powerful and loving. John 3:16 says "for God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, so that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life." You can have that gift today, if you haven't received it yet. Just by confessing to Christ that you have sinned(messed up in life) and need forgiveness. Then Christ forgives you and you enter into a REAL relationship with your creator. God bless, and let me know if you have any other spiritual questions, id be more than happy to answer.:)
I can't imagine how painful it must have been for you to go through that. Just know that the Lord loves you and wants to give you happiness in this life. I pray that you will be reunited with her in eternity. God bless you and you're family.
I'm really sorry for your loss. To answer your question about your mother meeting your child before she was born, the answer would be no, as a soul is not created before at least conception. If her soul was already there before she was born, then that would essentially be reincarnation, which the bible does not teach. Reincarnation is what a Buddhist believes in. But as the others have said, everybody who receives Christ into their spirit and as their Lord and Savior will be together again in eternity 🙂
I guess that's why we have a separation between church and state. Let the state marry you, don't force the church to. The church would do it under God but the state can do it for you without God. I guess it would become complicated when they want God to marry them? But that's a whole other issue on its own.
It's all about the excuses. Jesus would take things to their truthful core reason, the spirit behind any thought, word or deed. I'm sure you would make Cliffe feel very comfortable
willzer808 it was a good conversation.... has nothing to do with theology though.... its personal preference. I personally try to stay out of political decisions that have to deal with things I don't agree with from a biblical stance. I have no right forcing people to obey the law that they don't even believe in. The Bible says that as followers of Christ, our kingdom is not of this earth..... so there is no reason why we should feel the need to dictate the legistration of someone else's empire.
+willzer808 In that case he'll prefer to talk to you...LOL
He goes where he gets invited. Not sure why you call people you disagree with morons but people disagree. It's an intangible fact of life.
Government shouldn’t support destructive behaviors, but there’s a line when legislation of such behavior is necessary. That’s where leading role could be placed on religious institutions and families.
