I grew up in Nova Scotia across from Port Hawksbury, Cape Breton Island. We came back home to Lancashire , England when I was 12. I have just subscribed to Cotton and Twine, and am looking forward to my first box. I love cross stitching, but have sewn many projects and they mostly end up in a draw. So excited that the Cotton and Twine have everything included in the box to create a finished project. People tell me that I look more like my Mum the older I get.. I also have her hands! Ha ha. Sadly she has been gone for 26 years now. X edited to say l love the peeking pups, I think the black and white is what you need. What a beautiful sewing!
I think doing the peeking puppies in the called for colors is fine. From what I can tell it’s essentially a black and white photo. It is super cute. I hope your cough resolves its self soon.
So glad you’re back and feeling/sounding better. Your projects are beautiful. Love hearing about what your plans are for the next two months and 2025. I don’t know about cross stitch challenges, but I am “going” to the Jingle Ball-a virtual cross stitch retreat the first weekend in December. I’m even taking a virtual class. Happy stitching.
Challenges? Or SALs? Or themed months? I don't do a lot of SALs (Stitch-Alongs). BUT I do "observe" Sampler September, and Black Sampler November (monotchromatic stitch with black or near-black thread). I also enjoy Christmas in July -- but I don't do Xmas-themed stitches. Instead, I start Xmas gifts that I want to stitch. Also in July I try to work on Canadian-designed stitches or a reproduction of a Canadian sampler because...well...you know. July 1. In January, many people start a "Blessing Sampler" -- the aim of which is to *finish* it by the end of the month. I've not tried that! I like a new start on my birthday -- or to pick up a larger piece that I started on my birthday. Some observe "May-nia" as has already been mentioned. I don't. I'd love to go to a retreat but most of them are very far away from me. There's one coming up in Edmonton in 2025 but it has a theme (beach, I think) and that doesn't appeal to me. So...mostly I just stitch on my own. 🙂 P.S. This year I have a kit that I'm working on this weekend: the Flanders Fields Biscornu from Heartstring Samplery. A dear friend gave me the kit for my birthday a couple of years ago, so it is time -- with Remembrance Sunday (Nov.10 at church) and Remembrance *Day* the next day. No plans on when to finish it but I'm going to alternate it with more Xmas gift stitching and my black sampler. P.P.S. I don''t stitch Xmas ornaments (or Xmas-themed things) or Hallowe'en or Valentine's or even Easter. I do a bit of full coverage but am in absolute LOVE with samplers -- going on 3 years now. Go figure!
Enjoyed watching. Thanks for showing the Secret Grove SAL. I did purchase it and have started it. I dyed my own fabric, 32 count lugana, with a blue/teal color. I am loving stitching it. On the Victorian Murder myster SAL is the first "s" in stitches missing a stitch, or was it charted like that? I noticed it was different than the other s. Glad you are feeling better.
Oh my gosh you dyed your own fabric!!! Now that I want to see....pop a photo in my tobyknits and friends group. For the Victorian Murder Mystery Sal, I will check that out, you may be right...off to work on it now. Thanks for watching, take care

Gosh, I missed replying to you...so sorry. Yes I love the Cotton and Twine boxes for that reason, everything is included. And such a reasonable price.

I will definitely do that, the black and white really makes the pups pop! Cough is getting better, thanks Danette

I have heard of that....I am just back from NYC then, so not sure I will have the time. Will look into it more. Thanks Julie.
Stitch May-nia where you start a new project each day in May initially, but now people decide how many new starts they want.
Loved seeing your progress. The Historical Sampler SAL is looking beautiful. I have finished myb2nd section and am waiting for the 3rd.
It’s coming along so nicely! I am excited for the next part. Need to check on yours.
I think I would prerecord this advent. Love watching your stitching projects. ❤
Thanks Pamela.....I will do that.
The frame would look lovely with a sprig of Holly on the top right corner.
Yes, exactly my thoughts too.

I did in some parts of it. Still not quite right.
