    Thanks again for posting what no one else seems to cover!
    There’s a lot of vids out there that try to show how to make things but leave so much for the imagination. Then there’s the ones that don’t talk!
    You’re the man Harry!

    Yup Harry even here in Coastal San Diego we have a dampness problem be leave it or not. I call the garage the meat locker chilly to work in during our winter but very nice in summer never to hot always comfortable. I've been covering my tools, table saw band saw drill presses and the like for some 40 years now with cotton painters tarps works great . I have quiet a few knives and every year I drop a dissident pack in each knife box they are fantastic saves me a ton of work and cheap . We are just about 6 miles from the ocean on a hill top so we do have moisture and now it is going to rain .Happy trails

    Hi Harry. Thank you so much for this film. I really enjoy and appreciate the practical, quick tips you give us. Always very useful. Your format also makes them easier to recall later when needed. I like how patient and methodical you go about your craft. Inspires me to (try) and be more so. Thanks Harry.

    Greetings, Harry - I found several of these tips helpful, especially the chisel thickness one. I, for one, would love to see more of these in the future. I really enjoy your videos; not only the ones related to leathercraft, but many others as well. Thank you for all the great information.

    I’d never have thought of refilling a tube of glue, Harry!
    What a great idea!
    I much prefer using a tube, because it’s more precise- but buy tins because they’re far more economical.👍🏽

    Yes a great idea to give us some tips in this way ! Some TH-cam creators will make such a film once a month, and even include suggestions sent in by viewers of the channel along with their own ideas. I love the colour of those wallets, and the contrasting colour of the thread ! Hopefully available from you on the retail side ? Good too if they are a good size for the dreaded plastic cards ? So yes, more tips occasionally please ! Watch out or Tom will be trying to commandeer that anvil cover as an extra blanket !

    These little tid bits should help out a good deal.
    It,s always the little things that make or break a project.
    ps: Harry, I made a bean bag for my anvil I just microwave it & put over it. But I like your way also👍

    For sharpening a rotary blade, slide it onto a threaded bolt, tighten it in place with washers and a nut then lock it in the chuck of an electric drill. Turning the drill on moves the cutting edge uniformly against your strop (or fine sandpaper) for easy (and safe) sharpening.

    Hi, Thank you for a great video. The size of the hole made compared to the thickness of the thread is a great tip ! If I could make a suggestion for a future video ?! A situation I am struggling with is if , for instance, if you are coming to the end of a seam or a corner and are using, for example, a 4mm chisel and you have 2 mm remaining at the end/ corner how to fudge the stitching so you do not have a short 2mm stitch ? Shorten up several stitches before that by a 1/2 mm?? I Hope that makes sense :-)

    • @harryrogers
      @harryrogers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Umm that's an interesting one....on that size of stitch I personally would not mind a 2mm one at the end...it will be interesting to see what thoughts others can offer on this...thanks for taking the time to raise this.

    Thank you for sharing, I enjoyed the tips and tricks. On the small chisel, would you be able to take a grinder to it and 'fix' it?

    • @harryrogers

      Hi James..yes I think so..using plenty of water so it does not heat up too much and go soft....I might pop it on my water wheel.

    Love your channel Harry. I have been having trouble finishing (water based) dyed veg-tanned leather. The leather gets very brittle. I have used several products to 'soften' the leather. I use Aussie cream now. I apply it and let it absorb into the dyed leather. Then wipe it off. I then apply Carnuba Creme or Leather Balm to seal in the dye. Is there a better way? I am still getting really stiff leather that sort of cracks when bent slightly.

    • @harryrogers
      @harryrogers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Bruce, You may find a spirit dye such as Fiebings Professional is better, but I do slightly wonder about how the leather has been tanned as it seems a bit odd. Rgds Harry

    • @bbrachman
      @bbrachman 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@harryrogers I purchased a side of 3-4oz from Tandy Leather. Not sure who their tannery is. Next time, I will go with a known tannery. Hermann Oak in the US is supposed to be really quality leather. Thank you!

    • @harryrogers
      @harryrogers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bbrachman That is odd Bruce, Tandy should be OK, but it's a good idea to try another to rule things out.

    Harry, which leather gauge do you use and did you buy it in the UK?
    I ordered one from China but it got lost in the mail.. same with the one from Singapore. Urgh! Some of them look so cheap and wonky, i doubt the accuracy.

      Hi I have rfid mesh, but I am not certain despite the hype there is evidence of actual scamming, so I have not incorporated it....I looked into this in fair depth. Car keys on the other hand....!!!
