Growing up I was always weirdly interested in North Korea/the DPRK, and the Korean pensinula at large. While there was a lot of material on the South, not much existed about the North unless you wanted to read stories from defectors. This channel giving a look into the less political, more praactical side of the country, is unique.

@항일유격대 김일성(유격훈련 도입) I wouldn’t say that if I was you friend, as you might know South Korea has National Security Act which makes supporting reunification, tongil, ilegal

Awesome Ryugyong Hotel! The LED display is great and adds life and colour to the night scene of Pyongyang.

DPRK Explained explains how the DPRK functions way better than other news outlets, I wish that this channel was more recognized internationally, as others can see how the DPRK works without having to take any sides.

I like that you show it as a real place with real people who live their lives there. So much of the media about north korea makes it like almost cartoonishly evil and surreal

Your passion for North Korean affairs is infectious ❤. Love the nice touches about Sadong district. Literally cannot wait for Pothonggang and Sadong opening soon. North Korea has reached new heights with its modern architecture. Also looking forward to Hwassong district, apparently a lot of the Donju (elites) will be funding that project, attractive for its location (I.e, close to places of business). Rumours also that KJU wants Pyongyang's general hospital to open soon. 2022 must be North Korea's year to shine in modern development.

All the new buildings are so astonishingly ugly. some of the worst architecture I've seen. I wonder when this country will heal itself... It's so sad.

What I really like about Pyongyang? It’s all so colorful and everything fits together
Where I live every new building has a different style that doesn’t fit with what’s already there

Being an unused skyscraper that’s used to display beautiful LED imagery and is a staple landmark of the city, the Ryugyong Hotel reminds me a lot of One Times Square.

It's weird and refreshing to see contemporary construction that isn't just 5-over-1 gentrification cubes. North Korea is the last refuge of Postmodernism and High-Tech style, and it's hilarious to see.
