Oh, theres a question, my bad. It depends from clipper to clipper I know a good handful of clippers that I talked to screen captures the timestamp that they want to clip. Myself and another clipper downloads the whole VOD. 👍
Not sure if this is a top clipper moveset, but with my attempts at clipping, the technical process goes like this: 1. I keep in mind the time(s) I want to clip via the VOD(s). 2. I download the piece(s) of the VOD rather than the whole VOD. 3. I edit the piece(s) in the video editing program. 4. I render and double-check the video, revising if needed. 5. I make the thumbnail and double-check it. 6. I triple-check everything. 7. I upload the clip and credit and link and all that.
hmmm i think if a clipper is churning it out SUPER fast then that indicates they are recording when the stream is live and editingit during the rest of the stream. If i watch a stream live or an archive, i try to keep track of when the moments happen so i remember when i come back to the VOD. With vods it's easier to find the timecodes, of course. For me, for subtitles, I use adobe's transcription function and the edit in the essential graphics window. However, this is the thing that takes me by far the most time so I am not sure what clippers do to speed up or optimize the process. Adobe's transcription service speeds it up a lot but i still have to edit the transcription for errors and to improve its formatting.

As a side note, you can actually download the entire TH-cam video up to where the stream is currently while it's still live (even if DVR is off). I figured that out while writing a little auto archive script, so I'm sure others have too. So, if someone was a clipper, they could actually download the video and create the entire clip, ready to be uploaded before the streamer even ends the stream.
Really close. I write down a note in notepad w/ timestamp and live download the VOD. I don't clip tempus but I think it would be pretty similar to live downloading a twitch stream when the VOD isn't saved.
My issue as a clipper is that I'm VOD gang for most streams so I can't even get to it until later, and I'm bad at remembering where something is so unless it's stamped already, it takes me ages to find it. As for subtitles, I don't have Adobe so I don't have something that will do it for me.. which sucks tbh..
Don't clippers just use OBS to record the livestream? I'm sure some clipper made a video about it and how you have to be faster at editing than the competition.
@@patx35 As long as you have the stream at 1080 when you are capturing, it's usually fine to get it using OBS. I've forgotten sometimes and just roll with it, but otherwise it's perfectly fine.

Screen captured clips are generally worse in visual quality, with some clippers uploading extra crunchy clips. Some do, but it's a bad experience.
