It doesn’t seem to me that Enoch describes the evil watchers repentant - it seems more like crocodile tears. I can be sad that I will be punished without being repentant for my sin.

I’m pretty sure I learned somewhere (either an etymology podcast like The History of English or a random trivia night in university 😅) that in Old English, “apple” originally just meant fruit, like any fruit in general. So you might have a tomato apple, or a peach apple, or a berry apple. When the Bible stories got translated into Old English with St Augustine of Canterbury, they just used “apple” because it could mean any fruit, and Genesis doesn’t say what fruit it was. “Deer” and “corn” worked similarly: “deer” meant any creature you can hunt, and “corn” meant any grain…. I could be mistaken, but that’s what I recall, at any rate. God bless.
    Edited for spelling

I used to get very scrupulous about this book because of some scary implications. The giants, for instance, seemed incapable of being godly from the moment of their existence. I know now that God gives enough grace for all creatures of reason to choose Him. But at the time it made me wonder if I could be doomed no matter what - sort of like in the Calvinist sense.

I have lots of questions about the Nephilim - but don't want to add here. I have been waiting for someone with authority - others in which I and other view as reputable Catholic scholars - to explain a lot of your mysterious world topics. Most of them don't, won't, or are uncomfortable with these topics. So many Catholics who do content don't necessarily know their Catholicism well enough to be applying Catholicism "faith and reason" to such topics or any other topics. I go to referrals by the people I know are.

In my ignorant opinion I think the history & legends of Israel are much older than the myths of the Greeks.

That asks the question how far back do the stories in the books of Enoch go? Jimmy goes with Shcolars dating this text to the second temple and Maccabean period. This time period puts the jews in contact with the greeks. That does open the possibility the stories in the books of Enoch being inspired by contact with greek myths.

Job 16:19 sn "The witness in heaven must be God, to whom the cries and prayers come. Job’s dilemma is serious, but common to the human experience: the hostility of God toward him is baffling, but he is conscious of his innocence and can call on God to be his witness."

Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich talks about this. She said that when the angel’s fell God cast them down but a few of them had a tiny bit of regret so God banished them to a mountain top for a time before banishing them to hell. When Cain was banished he also moved toward this same mountain. The women of Cains tribe went up the mountain and became possessed by the fallen angels. They were taught spells, sexual depravity, and witchcraft. Either they mated with the fallen angels or the women were so possessed that when they mated with their spouses the result was evil giants. These are the people who walked the earth with Noah. They were so evil and abundant that God wanted to destroy the earth. During the flood the people died and the fallen angels took to the sky.

Personally my guess is that Enoch received private revelation and some of the things that he received were preserved through oral tradition. Over time, human authors added to this tradition and embellished, drawing from mythology.
While he may not have known that the Book of Enoch was not inspired scripture, the Holy Spirit protected Jude and prevented him from recording anything false into his own book.
The task that God gave Enoch-- and again this is my personal speculation-- was probably not meant to Aid in our salvation and therefore was not meant to be recorded as scripture. There may be true things or nearly true things within the Book of Enoch but for example if his task was to reprimand the demons and be an instrument to God to show them that their crocodile tears won't prevail, that "truth" shouldn't tri k you into believing the myths in the bookand it's probably not useful to us as Christians.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
And y'all say that the Book of Enoch is about the Watchers and destruction and wrath. I question y'alls mental capacity. It should not be in the Bible. According to the verse written above, do you think after the books were written way back ago that it could go any other way than the way they describe it? Who was Enoch?
Genesis_4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
Both Enochs came from Cain. Which one wrote the book?
The life of Cain can go no other way than what is written. Enoch (both) came from a line of violence. They themselves can go no other way, their DNA.
    Who was Lamech?
Genesis_4:18 And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.
Genesis_4:23 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.
Genesis_4:24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.
Noah came from Lamech. Our races ascended from Noah. There is no departing from the violence that plagues us.
    Who was Moses?
Exo 2:11 And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.
Exo 2:12 And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
Exo 2:13 And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?
Exo 2:14 And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.
The DNA of Cain. Do y'all believe in this whole panorama drama being a simulation of our interpretation of the DNA of Cain? Not that it is false, but a re-presentation from long long ago. It can go no other way. God does not change.

The Gods alloted to the Gentile Nations, I firmly believe to be the Nephelim. God was against this. Greeks, Romans and every other Gentile Nation has similar stories of Gods fighting, being large in stature and breeding with women.
