Seen Randy twice, once in Vegas and once in Galveston. Extremely nice man. So pleasant and patient and friendly- not to mention talented! Love all of his work!
wonderful! Love this guy! would drive to MA to see him talk. I live in MD. No stalker stuff.. just tell him he inspired an EMT and student nurse. Wonderful positive show. Lost a few victims... won millions of hearts!
I really enjoyed that video with Randy reminiscing about his "Emergency!" memories. Thank you for sharing it! He seems to have a delightful and charming sense of humor.
Definently for kids, I read in article a few years back. When the show first came out it was suppose to be centered basically around the hospital, with Johnny and Roy at the hospital and a few scenes at the station, but the firefighters got more of fan base and so they basically turned the plot of the show around. And as for kids I was probably their biggest and youngest fan. I was no older than 3 or 4 years old when the show went off and I loved it then and even more now. Randy was my fave.
And as for this man, I thought Johnny was a baby doll then (he was my first crush, I believe, I was born in 73 and watched that show ever Saturday for the next 4 years of my life. My parents were HUGE and I mean HUGE Jack Webb fans and they made sure they watched it too. I still think Randy looks good for a man in his 60's. I would love to meet him someday he seems like a all around great guy and even though I don't like snakes I love that snake story. I was laughing right along with you all.
What a neat guy - Randy seems very down-to-earth. I've watched a few episodes in reruns recently, and I'm surprised how well it holds up. It was a great show for its day and well acted by its main characters. (Extras were always a bit dodgey back then!) Even now, it doesn't have too many hokey moments.
"I've watched a few episodes in reruns recently, and I'm surprised how well it holds up." It does indeed-- flaws in the picture quality notwithstanding (the apparent 16mm prints of quite a few third-season episodes, almost all of the fourth season, and all of the fifth season), the play's the thing (IOW, the show was so well-acted and produced then that it is well worth the money on DVD, and deserves a place in any true classic television fan's collection [regardless of paramedic/firefighter aspirations or lack thereof]).
Man, I wish I was there. You'd have to tie me to the chair. LOL I would love to see a reunion show. I watched Randy on all the soaps he was on. Funny how he talked about the snake bite episode. "Who starts their own IV? You ever see a junkie? OK!" To funny. My question for him (if I was there) would be, Can I jump your bones?! I still have the hots for him all these years later. That smile for one, just melts me. Thanks for posting this.
@dzemergency I am such a big chicken though when it comes to talking to famous people. I've met a few and I'm surprised I remembered my own name. LOL If I HAD the nerve to ask Randy that question, I would probably turn red, pee myself and faint. LOL I would just sit there quietly and drool.
@@Celeste.Cooper I believe it was RandyMantooth.com. The site still exists but the info about this conference may be buried by now it was so long ago. He’s still out there giving great talks though, I’ve seen him a few more times since this one. 😊
To continue, but there was a bigger fanbase for the firefighters that the fire stations scenes become more and more common on the show as the show ran it's 7 year run. I also remember seeing Randy and Kevin on the CBS Early Show when Emergency! was playing on TV Land and they mentioned that also on there, it was probably 5 years or so ago. Whatever it may be who really cares it was a great show and still is and I can't wait til next month when the 5th season comes out. I've got the first four.
First off excuse me, but I wasn't even alive when the show first came out, so what I wrote was based on a book on the history of TV, where it had ever show from the dawn of television until the early 1990's. I am sorry I cannot remember the name of the book but it was green and orange with a picture of Jack Lord on it. And as I said earlier it mentioned that the firemen (esp. the station) were not suppose to be the main topic, but the show was suppose be around the hospital.
@PerryFanElite Ok, PerryFan. I found something. YT will not let me link but in an interview I found from 1999, Q54, Randy says his house burned down in Agoura in 1978.
@PerryFanElite Aw it's not the same? This info you have sounds EXTREMELY interesting, and I would love to read said article. I asked my Mommy, an E! fan from the start, and she doesn't remember. : ( I know you can find teeny bopper mags from the 70s online that are just plastered with Johnny Gage, I wonder if you'd find anything in there?
Are you sure? The first episode was centered on John joining the paramedics, after being a fireman. The hospital was the opposer; they had to fight for their program, especially with Dr. Brackett. I've only heard that Webb created the show to be about paramedics, where did you read that article?
Yeah it was like a million years ago before nice cameras were so common. I never thought anyone would watch it to be honest but have left it up as it got so much attention.
No way! Oh I think they would butcher it!! E! has something only the original cast brought to it, I don't think it would ever be the same! A reunion show maybe, but OH I don't think I'd like a remake! Two versions (E! and E! plus 4) were enough for me.
It seems like Hollywood is updating & reviving everything else, why not EMERGENCY!? I would LOVE to see this show redone. Heck, use the same station house! Station 127 still stands off the freeway in Long Beach! Revive EMERGENCY! PLEASE!!!

Oh, my God, it's Kevin Tighe's voice as FP Roy DeSoto!
Thank you so much for doing this!!!! It made me feel like I was there! How I wish I could have been!
Wow, he's still got the look several years later!!

That was wonderful!
Speaking of FP Johnny Gage,... 👨🚒
@planetchinchilla I think it should be coming out very soon!
There is also an answer he gives on how he hurt his cheek - on a toy firetruck - when he was little!
Thank you for sharing!
❤ 😍

@@dzemergency Thank you. I’ve been a long time fan since 1974. My favorite show was “ Emergency “

This was in Massachusetts. It was a small event in Malden. The information still may be up on some sites.
He was in my neighborhood a few weeks ago, but I had to work. I could spit.

@SissieBelle1 Thanks, Sissie!
@PerryFanElite that's awesome! I am on a quest for knowledge! To Google I go!
I'd quit my job for an opportunity like that.
Sound is terrible
