    What is it about us shortwavers that we have to keep buying them.I guess that's the mystery of it.Every radio has its own little personality.Merry Christmas to all out there and thanks for the great,fun reviews you give.That is not bad at all for such a tiny radio you could fit in your shirt pocket.

      One time in South Florida after a hurricane all local radio & cell phone towers towers were down . No phones ,& no am or fm radio stations . The only news I could get was shortwave radio .

      Portable and pocket shortwave radios have gotten cheaper than they used to be in the 1990s. When it comes to electronic devices, consumer SW radios (non professional grade receivers from ICOM and Yaesu) have become very affordable to the extent that, in many cases it's cheaper to buy a new radio than it is to repair it. 📻😊💓
      The Tecsun PL-330 and the XHDATA D-808 are good examples of value-for-the-money pocket receivers, considering their features. If Sony or Grundig had made similar radios to the PL-330 and D-808 in 1995, they would be very expensive to most casual shortwave listeners.

    Got of these and was impressed also, especially with the AM reception at night. It's worth the money. Cute and I put it by my nightstand for the clock, in fact it's probably cheaper than a new digital clock alone AND it has AM, FM, and SW. Merry Christmas Todderbert.

    FM audio sounds great for 15 bucks given size and price of the radio ( at least on my PC speakers ). I´m impressed by the build quality of the radio´s casing, no large gaps, no rough edges, no moulding imperfections, perfectly centered buttons, nice and sharp display.
    It´s like someone in China said "let´s make 1 buck less revenue, let us make a nicer device for that 1 buck, will those westerners appreciate that?"
    To the makers of this radio: Think about a selectable time-out for the display illumination. The current one is perfectly fine where customers use cheap zinc-carbon cells, in western countries where most people would use alkaline manganese cells, it´s just too short :)

    I have mixed feelings about the Yorek brand. The first Yorek I have is a near clone of the Prunus j401. I absolutely love this one, way better AM sensitivity then my Retekess v115. The next one I have is their (headphone only) AM FM MP3 radio. I am not so fond of this one as the AGC is continuously highly erratic on AM no matter the station or signal strength...Looks like you got a winner here. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the video.

    Got mine for the new year. Number 81 pocket radio. Im trying to catch up to Todderbert! This is great for walks. But Beware, It gets very loud! The dial goes to 40! Most pockets go to 25 to 30. I couldnt get any DX the other nite. This is the same size as Horologe HTX 401 and weights a tad heavier. Horologe has a 13 inch antenna. The Rysamton has a Mighty 15 inches. Great sound also. Got it with the 5 per cent of coupon.

Always interested in two stations on your AM scans, Zoomer and WCBS. My two faves both sounded good on scan. FM Stereo on hphones, nice. Rysamton, where do they get these names?

    I got one of these units a few weeks ago and out of the box it developed a number of faults over time. Firstly, after few hours it would lock up and pressing all the buttons would power it on, so to reset it, I would have to take the batteries out, let the caps discharge and put them back and update the time again etc.. Then the AM band became faulty, it would not tune or scan at all. So no AM band. Ditto for a reliable clock and alarm. Al I now have is a SW and FM radio that locks up after a few hours of non use and I have to take the batteries out to reset it. Using a plug in power adapter is even worse, it is so noisy it's useless. Any chance of re-reviewing yours to see if it developed the same faults ? I'd like to buy another one, but I am not sure if it is just my unit or a problem with all of them.

    Take it this way that innovation is attractive. And every new chip is a attractant. Yet I find my SELFE digging out that crystal/ 1 transistor reciver and cutting a new coil . PS have a 102 year old. Given me and I get it out every fall to listen to foot ball games. SHORTWAVE God bless it

    Hi Mr. Ebbert,
    New to this, so need some advice. My brother would like a high quality multiband radio that can scan ham radio frequencies/short wave as well as AM/FM, and for that matter, FRS, GMRS and CB if such a beast exists.
    Can you suggest such a radio or maybe two that would cover all the bases?
    Thank you for your consideration!
    Kind regards,
    John

    • @todderbert

      Its best to get a scanner for the VHF/UHF Bands, and a Traditional Portable for Shortwave. I like Bearcat scanners, and a Tecsun PL-880 may be worth checking out for AM FM Shortwave SSB activity.

    Hej Todderbert thanks for the review the Rysamton YK-M03 seems to be a nice low cost radio a maybe buy this radio and I think this radio would be perfect as a little kitchen radio or to have at the bedside table. Take care Todderbert and have a nice nice day and yes looking at that new Sofirn Flashlight you have pick up i also look at Sofirn SP10V3.0 mini edc flashlight so I think I gonna also buy that one.

    • @NTPTM
      @NTPTM ปีที่แล้ว

      @@todderbert Hej Todderbert Sofirn SP10 V3 flashlight uses a more conventional and toned down user interface what I understand so not the same user interface as your Sofirn SP 10 Pro flashlight. I'll see which one I buy for your Sofirn SP 10 pro is also very nice and Anduril 2 is very customizable or if a buy both but the Sofirn SP10 V3.0 has 1000 lumens but is just 100 more then your SP 10 Pro. But anyway both flashlights is very nice and very nice compact flashlights so we'll see Todderbert but I've become a big flashlight enthusiast but I know myself, so I'll probably buy both your Sofirn SP10 Pro and Sofirn SP V3.0 . By the way Todderbert I also really like the Sofirn SP35T which just arrived will go out and test it in the dark when I get time but you really should pick it up. It is more powerful love that then the Sofirn SP 35 but what I really love is the tail switch on the Sofirn SP35T take care Todderbert and have a nice bright day in Chicago.

      @@todderbert An update i just order the Sofirn SP10V3.0 flashlight but I forgot that these flashlights don't have a charging port i forgot to order with the battery kit but no big deal I ordered a few 14500 Batteries 900mAh and battery chargers i have that. But from what I've heard, SP10V3.0 has received very good reviews so it will be interesting to test it when it arrives and also Todderbert it will be interesting to see your review of your Sofirn SP10 Pro it's nice to have mini flashlights which are also good. Well time for some coffe and radio morning time take care Todderbert and have a very nice day.

    • @NTPTM
      @NTPTM ปีที่แล้ว

      @@todderbert Hej yes the Sofirn SP10 V3.0 and your SP 10 Pro can run on 1x AA alkaline battery and also 1x AA NiMH battery and of course 14500 Li-Ion battery which I will run in my Sofirn SP 10 V3.0 but nice to have a few different battery options. The only negative, if we take my model Sofirn SP10V3.0, I have seen various tests, it cannot produce 1000 lumens if you have an alkaline battery inserted in the flashlight but otherwise these seem to be very nice mini flashlights. I am also waiting for the Sofirn SC 32 Todderbert that I would become this flashlight crazy but it's also a nice hobby and having several flashlight models to choose from for different purposes is nice. Then it's very nice to have a little chat with you and exchange questions and answers both regarding flashlights and radios. Will try to test my Sofirn SP35T out in the dark before Christmas if I have time and see how good it is and how far it throws. But I can say already now Sofirn SP35T is a very nice flashlight take care Todderbert.
