That is not a pizza cutter, but a "Geflügelschere" (poultry scissor). We have round pizza cutters like everywhere else in the world. At home I use a big kitchen scissor for cutting my pizza, it's just as smooth or even smoother to cut with it like with a round cutter. It's everyone's choice if he uses this or this.
I am german and have to clarify 3 things :D 1. The "Pizza Scissors" are actually not for Pizza (although some may use them for crispy pizza) but for Chicken, Duck or similar to event cut through the bones of them. Mostly used for example on christmas, when a lot of german family eat either goose or duck (similar to Thanksgiving in the US) when the whole bird is presented on the table and everyone cuts out the piece they want 2. Quark is NOT SWEET. There is sweet quark, but thats because of A LOT OF SUGAR. Regular Quark is definetly NOT sweet but pretty bitter. Most kids hate it raw. So mostly it is mixed with for example jam, also pretty popular is to mix it with fruits (to give it a bit of sweetness. Quark is considered really healthy here, because it normaly is not sweet and doesn't really have sugar in its regular form (unlike joghurt where every brand puts billion tons of sugar in it) and then it's mixed with raw fruits like strawberries, blueberries and so on and eaten as breakfast -> Healthy breakfast. To put it simple: Its joghurt which is less creamy and not sweet but bitter but really healthy :) 3. This Smartphone Bands she showed are a fashion things right now here and pretty popular among young and teen girls - like she said. For everyone except mentioned it isn't really used at all. It could be considered a fashion trend. Also: The last thing the showed is a "Tintenkiller" (translated "ink killer") and it "erases" ink. But: It puts like a ... "coat" on the paper so you can't really write with your fuller on it anymore (it also erases ink after) thats why you have to use the permanent side she showed. I am as old as you JAmes and as far as I know they aren't really used that much anymore atleast in high school, permanent pens are what most people use nowadays. Ink-based fullers just got out of fashion, making "Tintenkiller" unnecessary
I totally agree with your points. The only thing I want to add is that (especially in elementary school) we still use fullers and tintenkillers (ink killer). In some elementary schools it even is obligatory.
The “hot packs“ are not just for women you can use it for normal stomachaches and like when you're cold in the winter. My dad really likes to put this at his feet in the winter so yeah it's pretty universal
That's true. Many women use it for menstrual pain or stomach cramps. I also like to use them at work when I’m cold or when I’ve to use public transport in winter. There is usually a cover on the hot water bottle, so that your skin does not come into direct contact, there is a risk of burns as they are filled with boiling water.
schokischlecki1980 the problem with Kirschkerkissen is that they only retain the heat for about 10-20 mins tho, the water bottle holds it for a few hours
The pizza scissors are probably just a thing that her host family does :D Literally haven't seen anyone in Germany cutting their pizza like that. Basically everyone here has a "regular" pizza cutter. And the Quark isn't sweet. It's a neutral-tasting sour milk product, similar to yoghurt, but thicker, almost like cream cheese. For instance, we make our cheesecake with Quark here in Germany. You can make desserts with it, but you can also make savoury dips with salt, garlic, herbs etc with it.
Also just to explain the "Quark" thing a bit more. The food she referred to is a so called "Quakrspeise" which is a desert like food made out of the neutral, even sour tasting "Quark" with sugar or other sweeteners, often mixed with fruits like strawberry or Cherry. The package may say "Erdbeerquark" (Strawberry-quark) and some people may even call this "Quark" but actually its just a desert made with Quark.
The "Thermoskanne" (Thermocan) usually have a push button in the middle of the second lid to open a small hole to serve, so you just have to unscrew it for fill in e.g. coffee or to clean it
"Traubenzucker" is just pure glucose. These kinds of sweets are basically for a quick energy boost, because glucose goes pretty much straight into the blood stream.

The translation of Quark is curd! And with curd you can make desserts (often with fruits), cakes, pancakes, ice cream, tzaziki (a greek sauce with cucumbers and garlic, it is salty!), herbal curd (on bread, also salty), lasagne sauce (with spinach), put it on bread with jam or honey.... It is similar with cream cheese, but it hasn't so much fat, but very much protein! I love curd!
Müesli is like cereal, but it consists of oats, dried fruits, and other seeds. Some contain bits of cereal, but they usually differ in the amounts of individual fruits.

That ink pen eraser in Germany is called in "Tintenkiller", literally meaning "Ink killer": Tinte = ink, killer = same word. You need to write over the erased part with the permanent marker on the other side. Fabulous invention used by lots of students in schools. Everybody had that. 👍

Back in the 90's we called them "Tintenkiller" and they were really common. You HAD to use "Füller" in school, "Kugelschreiber" weren't allowed at all.

The pink bottle made of rubber is kind of a heating pad, you fill it with hot, but not to hot water and it helps with stomach pain or if you´re cold (or you use a "kirchkernkissen"). Over time the water becomes cold and you change it for hot water again (or you feel better again). I think she explains why we need a coinpocket pretty good. There´s no more to say. The same with the thermos (but know I´m curious how they work in America and your reaction is so funny). Then the sirup: we have juice (=Saft) as well, often sirup is not concentrated juice, there is sugar in it as well (it´s a methode to make the juice durable). But when we mix juice with water, it´s called a "Schorle". "Müsli" is kind of cereals (we also have cornflakes, rice krispies and so), but I think it´s more like oatmeal, a mixture of flakes of oat, small pieces of different dry fruits (but mostly raisins), sometimes chokoflakes. It depends on what kind of "Müsli" (or "Müesli") you prefer. And, like somebody already said, NO, we don´t have pizza scissors (OK, maybe somewhere you can buy them), we use the same pizzacutter as everybody else (or a knife) . It´s a scissor for chicken and so. BUT you can also use this scissors for pizza if you want (I never tried, but know it´s a possibility). Quark is a kind of cream cheese, you can eat it with fruits or as a dip with herbs or garlic, whith whipped cream you can use it as a filling for cakes. (If somebody knows a better explanation, you´re wellcome). As a last word: I love your videos (american reactions to "German Lifstyle" in general) because it gives me a point of view about my culture I never had before. To the part with "Quark": In my region you eat Quark with potatoes. You put some onions, herbs (dill), salt & peper and linseed oil (Leinöl) in Quark and mix it. After this you put this over some cooked potatoes and tadaa it is ready to eat. It´s quite a very simple meal and especially for hot summer days a refreshing one.
Yep :D "Oberlausitz" and "Niederlausitz" are the two regions I know about. I don't know how far noth / south they do this too ^^ Also I met some people in Leipzig, who do it like this as well.

Quark in itself is not sweet. It is also not yogurt. Quark counts as cheese because of how it is made. It is slightly firmer than yoghourt. It is mixed with sweet fruits, used for baking, eaten with potatoes or bought in a ready mixture, where it can have all kinds of flavors like yogurt.
The first item we call hot water bottles in the USA. They are kind of antiquated, but can still be found at CVS in the geriatric section. I used them years ago, but now I use hot pads you put in the microwave to heat. We have some cereals similar to Muesili in the USA, The closest I can think of is granola, but they are not the same. Quark is similar to our plain yogurt, but has a little bit different flavor and texture. The Quark she said was sweet has probably been sweetened or flavored with something. As she said, there is a whole section in the grocery store for Quark, so it is similar to our yogurt in that you can buy it plain or in many flavors. You can add any kind of fresh fruit or jam to the plain version and it is delicious. It is also put as a filler in some pastries or crepes. It is fresh and, since it's German, probably has no preservatives. So, it probably wouldn't be cost effective to import because it has to be refrigerated and probably has a short shelf life. Traubenzucker is translated directly as grape sugar. I have always assumed it is sugar derived from grapes. It's been 25+ years since I last lived in Germany, but I have very fond memories thereof. I lived there off and on for about 12.5 years. Obwohl es etwa 25 Jahre her ist, seit ich in Deutschland lebte, kann ich noch etwas Deutsch. Young children tend to go nuts with their Tintenkiller, they literally refuse to cross something out or just write over a letter that is wrong. Instead, they look for their Tintenkiller, pop off the first lid, erase, pop off the second lid, write over it, realize they've made another mistake and scream in terror internally. And I, the teacher, stand behind them and regret I even pointed out their mistake.
Oh yeah xD during my school days, our teacher had to literally teach us how to cross words out, because it's faster than using your Tintenkiller. I guess that obsession stems from elementary school, where you learn how to write in a pretty way xD

And the trick with the thermal can is, that you don't have to unscrew it, you can just press the "button" at the top and pour out, then press it again and it's closed again. Müsli is basically like whole grain cornflakes or oatflakes, nuts, dried fruit, seeds, etc. There are many different versions and you can basically mix it yourself. The can she showed is actually from a service where you can buy and order custom Müsli according to your tastes, but they are also available in many stores. The "ink eraser" basically chemically dissolves the ink from the fountain pen. Not sure about the exact magic behind it, but that's the general idea.

Hi! Canadian here, but of German heritage. We have some German specialty stores here so the Kinder Eggs, they're not that weird. You can buy them almost anywhere. The hot water bottle? We've had those FOREVER even here in Canada. Just like she showed, you fill it up with hot water and put it in your bed to warm it up, or use it when sick/cramps, etc. The thermos bottle? Again, had them here FOREVER! They're great. They keep hot stuff hot, cold stuff cold. 😃 The "Traubenzucker" literally translated is 'grape sugar'. You can get them without the stick too. The brand I think of is "Dextro-Energen". As you can probably guess, they are sugar for energy. My mother told me that people take it for energy and to help with concentration for studying. I have also seen it used for Diabetic emergencies. The eraser pen has been around there forever, too. We had students that had just arrived from Germany back in elementary school and they had those pens. They were very cool. Wallets with coin pouches, we have them here in Canada too (mostly for women) because we also have a ton of coins. I never saw the pizza scissors, and I've been to big cities. But what you can try: There is this German grocery store that is pushing on the American market. It is called ALDI and most of their shops are at the east coast. Maybe they sell Quark. You could also try to make a video out of visiting one of these grocery stores if they allow you to fil in there. It will be a different grocery shopping experience for you. For example you have to carry a quarter with you to unlock a shopping cart. Or the cashiers: They are sitting and not much into small talk like "How are you? How was your day?". Instead they rush scanning your groceries like it is a race between the cashiers. German efficiency... They also sell a lot of no name brands which makes shopping there quite cheap. Try it out and stay safe!

@TheBlackiwid No, heating packs (Wärmflaschen) last quite long. I have one and I use them when my stomach aches, or when I am cold in bed or on the couch, or my girlfriend uses them when she is cold. I have also used them for my back when I have pain in the Ishias area, etc. pp.

Living in a country bordering Germany, a lot of products we have are made in Germany. Germany has always been such an industrial powerhouse. Greetings from Denmark!
1. product: Wärmeflasche: No, there is no heat up button on this thing. It's as simple as it can get: Pour hot water and screw it tightly, than lay it under your bedsheet. It then produces a lot of warmth. 2. product: Geldbeutel: Used (obvious) to store metal money and paper money - but also the Girocard you can use to pay contact free. The "Ausweis" (identification card) also finds its place here. 3. product: Thermoskanne: Used to take a hot beverage to work, school, etc. You unscrew the top cap which serves as a cup too. There are two buttons on top: the middle one open the thermos can, and now you can pour your drink into the cup (more precise than screwing it completely open - I recommend that if you don't want to get burned - or your drink to cool faster). Upon pressing the button a ring comes up. Pressing this one closes the thermos, and the heat stays in there (mainly cause there is a hollow room inside the metal - it's a bit like a window, where you have glass, nothing, glass). 4. product: Sirup: Can be used to mix beverages with water. Some of them are designed to work with "Wassersprudler" (don't know how to translate that one). 5. product: Müsli: Mostly eaten for breakfast, this one is very tasty. It gives a lot of energy and you can put in it whatever you like. It usually contains oat flakes. Common ingredients are dried fruit (Früchtemüsli) or chocolate (Schokomüsli). Cereals exist in Germany too, but Müsli isn't the word for cereal here - that would be Cornflakes. 6. product: Those are not pizza clippers. This is a Geflügelschere (poultry scissors). It is very strong and can cut straight through chicken (duck, goose) bones. For pizza we have a Pizzaroller. There are even some creative ones that look like a Bicycle, and maybe I'll buy one. 7. product: Erdnuss-Flips: They are made of corn flour which is heated among pressure. In a special machine called Matrize they can expand themselves, but they still bake through, which gives them a very fluffy texture. At last they are covered with sunflower oil, palm oil, coconut fat, grounded peanuts, spices and salt. They have a lot of calories, almost as much as chocolate. When opened they should be eaten in a few days cause they collect the humidity out of the air. 8. product: Quark: It's pasteurised milk that - with the help of casein in milk acid (and milk acid bacteria) - creates a soft but crumbly mass. It counts towards creamy cheese products and is offered with different amounts of fat inside. Magerquark usually has under 10%, Halbfettquark has about 20% and Fettquark has 40%. Although Montana says it is sweet, pure Quark actually is bitter / almost sour. 9. product: Those smartphone bands. I don't have one, and I don't need one. I don't even think there is one for my Honor 8x Max. 10. product: Traubenzucker-Lollies: glucose/dextrose is a quick energy deliverer. In Lollipop-form they are pretty handy. Pharmacys usually give them (in dragee shape but suckable) to children when their parents buy medical drugs. (oh google translate) 11. product: The famous - forbidden - Kinderegg. It's milk chocolate that is pressed in Egg form. It is hollow inside to make room for a little plastic (also egg-shaped) box that contains a little toy. 12. product: The Tintenkiller (ink killer) is used to get ink (for example a wrong written word) off of a paper. The white side is used for this. The blue side is used as a pen to write on ink killer, cause normal ink will just vanish too. In school pens (Kugelschreiber) aren't allowed, so we have to use Füller (modern feather and ink). If the ink killer doesn't completely remove everything anymore it's pretty much a sign it's pretty dead and you'll need to replace it soon. They aren't expensive though, I think 3 of em cost under 1€.
Lol, i'm sure someone has already writen this, I just cannot help it, the thermos has a button on the screw plug, you don't have to unscrew the screw plug everytime you need you need to pour some hot fluid into the cup, just push the button.

the first one is a heating pad fullstop. It's pretty old here in Europe, it's used also to warm up feet. And yes it's how you said it works, pure hot water, tap it back on and it works, no buttons. The first time I ever saw the concentrated juice, it was a bottle from Canada. So maybe the US doesn't have it, but Canada does or at least did. Cereals and muesli are 2 different things. We have cereals, muesli it's oat flakes practically. For sure in Germany they don't use a scissor for pizza. I have bought 2 of the round cutters in diverse German supermarkets and they were pretty easy to find anywhere. I think the scissor she is holding is for some kind of meat actually.
The „Tintenkiller“ (= Ink killer) works on regular fountain pen ink. The color molecules in the ink are responsive to soda for example. If you put washing soda on ink the molecule is switched from a colourful to a transparent state. The ink is not removed but made invisible. It also can be reversed and sometimes over time actually reverses also on the paper.

The hot water bag (Wärmeflasche) is a leftover from times when people did not have heaters for the whole house. You could lay it in the bed and when you went to sleep it was nice warm in the bed. In older times they used heated stones from near the hearth. Also helpful, when you had a cold and chills and fever. The Thermoscan is very nice to keep Tea or Coffee hot in winter or something else cold in summer. Take the ones made of stainless steel not the ones with glass insert - ever. They break easy. Sirup is cool - all tapwater in germany is potable unless there is a warning from the local provider. But that is rare. Some tapwater is a bit hard (too much minerals). That is not a pizzaclipper (never seen one) that looks like a (Geflügelschere) actually to cut chicken, goose or turkey, strong enough to cut most of the bones.
12:21 yeah that’s pretty much a girls only 17:00 it only works with the standard dark blue ink and I can not recommend to use it because over time it will also erase everything it makes contact with (only dark blue ink) So in a folder the pages right on top and the back of the page will erase too It’s called inkkiller btw

Erdnuss Flipps, you can find them all over Europe. It is made from corn (puffed), on which peanut oil is dripped, for the peanut taste (not for a peanut butter taste)! Tastes good.

Not weitd scissors like these but still real kitchen scissors...Der Rand ist einfach zu hart und ich hasse es wenn der Pizza cutter deine Pizza nicht richtig schneidet und du musst die Pizza dann selbst losreißen? The white sugar squares, that you mentioned look like Xanax, according to her description, are Traubenzucker.... which in Switzerland is told to me glucose extracted from grape juice and flavoured with several different flavours. It's highly recommended for uni students and intellectual workers.
The kicker with that specific Thermoskanne (the thermal bottle) is, that if you press the round button in the top, you can lock/unlock it to pour out the fluid without having to unscrew the top.
Do y´all habe "Pfand" in the USA? Pfand is a syste mwhere you collect your water bottles and in general bottles and bring them to a store to recieve about 0,25€ per bottle.
Well, we pay the „Pfand“ upfront so we only get the money back we already had to pay. You only gain money if you collect bottles which a lot of homeless people or old people to who don‘t have enough.

I have ten and fill them with hot water every evening to cover every part of my bed, about half an hour before I go to sleep. So nice and warm! I hold one of them in my arms while falling asleep. :) PS: Quark is not the same as yoghurt and it's used differently, but if you put yogurt over night in a paper coffee filter, so some of the liquid can drop out, it eventually turns into quark.
They're not just for period cramps. Montana said 'cramps'. They're good for any kind of cramps and aches, period cramps, cramps due to a stomach virus, tense muscles, ... And obviosly also if it's just cold.
That is not a pizza cutter, but a "Geflügelschere" (poultry scissor). We have round pizza cutters like everywhere else in the world. At home I use a big kitchen scissor for cutting my pizza, it's just as smooth or even smoother to cut with it like with a round cutter. It's everyone's choice if he uses this or this.

I am german and have to clarify 3 things :D
1. The "Pizza Scissors" are actually not for Pizza (although some may use them for crispy pizza) but for Chicken, Duck or similar to event cut through the bones of them. Mostly used for example on christmas, when a lot of german family eat either goose or duck (similar to Thanksgiving in the US) when the whole bird is presented on the table and everyone cuts out the piece they want
2. Quark is NOT SWEET. There is sweet quark, but thats because of A LOT OF SUGAR. Regular Quark is definetly NOT sweet but pretty bitter. Most kids hate it raw. So mostly it is mixed with for example jam, also pretty popular is to mix it with fruits (to give it a bit of sweetness.
Quark is considered really healthy here, because it normaly is not sweet and doesn't really have sugar in its regular form (unlike joghurt where every brand puts billion tons of sugar in it) and then it's mixed with raw fruits like strawberries, blueberries and so on and eaten as breakfast -> Healthy breakfast.
To put it simple: Its joghurt which is less creamy and not sweet but bitter but really healthy :)
3. This Smartphone Bands she showed are a fashion things right now here and pretty popular among young and teen girls - like she said. For everyone except mentioned it isn't really used at all. It could be considered a fashion trend.
Also: The last thing the showed is a "Tintenkiller" (translated "ink killer") and it "erases" ink. But: It puts like a ... "coat" on the paper so you can't really write with your fuller on it anymore (it also erases ink after) thats why you have to use the permanent side she showed.
I am as old as you JAmes and as far as I know they aren't really used that much anymore atleast in high school, permanent pens are what most people use nowadays. Ink-based fullers just got out of fashion, making "Tintenkiller" unnecessary

The pizza scissors are probably just a thing that her host family does :D Literally haven't seen anyone in Germany cutting their pizza like that. Basically everyone here has a "regular" pizza cutter.
And the Quark isn't sweet. It's a neutral-tasting sour milk product, similar to yoghurt, but thicker, almost like cream cheese. For instance, we make our cheesecake with Quark here in Germany. You can make desserts with it, but you can also make savoury dips with salt, garlic, herbs etc with it.
I think that is literally no Pizza scissor, i think they misuse a poultry scissor, it looks lik this.

The translation of Quark is curd! And with curd you can make desserts (often with fruits), cakes, pancakes, ice cream, tzaziki (a greek sauce with cucumbers and garlic, it is salty!), herbal curd (on bread, also salty), lasagne sauce (with spinach), put it on bread with jam or honey....
It is similar with cream cheese, but it hasn't so much fat, but very much protein! I love curd!
"Tintenkiller" were already around during my school days back in to 70s and 80s.

That ink pen eraser in Germany is called in "Tintenkiller", literally meaning "Ink killer": Tinte = ink, killer = same word. You need to write over the erased part with the permanent marker on the other side. Fabulous invention used by lots of students in schools. Everybody had that. 👍

And one more person (me) trying to explain the weird german products.
The pink bottle made of rubber is kind of a heating pad, you fill it with hot, but not to hot water and it helps with stomach pain or if you´re cold (or you use a "kirchkernkissen"). Over time the water becomes cold and you change it for hot water again (or you feel better again).
I think she explains why we need a coinpocket pretty good. There´s no more to say. The same with the thermos (but know I´m curious how they work in America and your reaction is so funny).
Then the sirup: we have juice (=Saft) as well, often sirup is not concentrated juice, there is sugar in it as well (it´s a methode to make the juice durable). But when we mix juice with water, it´s called a "Schorle".
"Müsli" is kind of cereals (we also have cornflakes, rice krispies and so), but I think it´s more like oatmeal, a mixture of flakes of oat, small pieces of different dry fruits (but mostly raisins), sometimes chokoflakes. It depends on what kind of "Müsli" (or "Müesli") you prefer.
And, like somebody already said, NO, we don´t have pizza scissors (OK, maybe somewhere you can buy them), we use the same pizzacutter as everybody else (or a knife) . It´s a scissor for chicken and so. BUT you can also use this scissors for pizza if you want (I never tried, but know it´s a possibility).
Quark is a kind of cream cheese, you can eat it with fruits or as a dip with herbs or garlic, whith whipped cream you can use it as a filling for cakes. (If somebody knows a better explanation, you´re wellcome).
As a last word: I love your videos (american reactions to "German Lifstyle" in general) because it gives me a point of view about my culture I never had before.

To the part with "Quark": In my region you eat Quark with potatoes. You put some onions, herbs (dill), salt & peper and
linseed oil (Leinöl) in Quark and mix it. After this you put this over some cooked potatoes and tadaa it is ready to eat. It´s quite a very simple meal and especially for hot summer days a refreshing one.
Your region is 'Oberlausitz', right? ;) Cause I do not know any other region in germany, where linseed oil is used in this way.

Quark in itself is not sweet. It is also not yogurt. Quark counts as cheese because of how it is made. It is slightly firmer than yoghourt. It is mixed with sweet fruits, used for baking, eaten with potatoes or bought in a ready mixture, where it can have all kinds of flavors like yogurt.
The first item we call hot water bottles in the USA. They are kind of antiquated, but can still be found at CVS in the geriatric section. I used them years ago, but now I use hot pads you put in the microwave to heat.
We have some cereals similar to Muesili in the USA, The closest I can think of is granola, but they are not the same.
Quark is similar to our plain yogurt, but has a little bit different flavor and texture. The Quark she said was sweet has probably been sweetened or flavored with something. As she said, there is a whole section in the grocery store for Quark, so it is similar to our yogurt in that you can buy it plain or in many flavors. You can add any kind of fresh fruit or jam to the plain version and it is delicious. It is also put as a filler in some pastries or crepes. It is fresh and, since it's German, probably has no preservatives. So, it probably wouldn't be cost effective to import because it has to be refrigerated and probably has a short shelf life.
Traubenzucker is translated directly as grape sugar. I have always assumed it is sugar derived from grapes.
It's been 25+ years since I last lived in Germany, but I have very fond memories thereof. I lived there off and on for about 12.5 years.

And I, the teacher, stand behind them and regret I even pointed out their mistake.

The heat bag get's filled with hot water, then you screw it shut and the heat of the water can be used for whatever you need it for. Generally to keep yourself warm, as she described, like when you're sick our out in your garden in the evening.
Never seen those pizza scissors. Most people I know just use a knife. The fancier ones might have one of those rollers, but that's it.
And the trick with the thermal can is, that you don't have to unscrew it, you can just press the "button" at the top and pour out, then press it again and it's closed again.
Müsli is basically like whole grain cornflakes or oatflakes, nuts, dried fruit, seeds, etc. There are many different versions and you can basically mix it yourself. The can she showed is actually from a service where you can buy and order custom Müsli according to your tastes, but they are also available in many stores.
The "ink eraser" basically chemically dissolves the ink from the fountain pen. Not sure about the exact magic behind it, but that's the general idea.

Hi! Canadian here, but of German heritage. We have some German specialty stores here so the Kinder Eggs, they're not that weird. You can buy them almost anywhere. The hot water bottle? We've had those FOREVER even here in Canada. Just like she showed, you fill it up with hot water and put it in your bed to warm it up, or use it when sick/cramps, etc. The thermos bottle? Again, had them here FOREVER! They're great. They keep hot stuff hot, cold stuff cold. 😃 The "Traubenzucker" literally translated is 'grape sugar'. You can get them without the stick too. The brand I think of is "Dextro-Energen". As you can probably guess, they are sugar for energy. My mother told me that people take it for energy and to help with concentration for studying. I have also seen it used for Diabetic emergencies. The eraser pen has been around there forever, too. We had students that had just arrived from Germany back in elementary school and they had those pens. They were very cool. Wallets with coin pouches, we have them here in Canada too (mostly for women) because we also have a ton of coins. I never saw the pizza scissors, and I've been to big cities. When you go to Germany, have a great time! I love visiting Germany. I'm glad to have gone this past September/October. (Sorry for this super huge post!)

Or let me say: Nearly nobody but Montanas host family. Having a diner there must be an interesting experience. Maybe they found a way to eat a soup with a fork.🤔
- Regarding Quark: I don't think you can order it. It has to be kept refridgerated all the time as far as I know. But what you can try: There is this German grocery store that is pushing on the American market. It is called ALDI and most of their shops are at the east coast. Maybe they sell Quark. You could also try to make a video out of visiting one of these grocery stores if they allow you to fil in there. It will be a different grocery shopping experience for you. For example you have to carry a quarter with you to unlock a shopping cart. Or the cashiers: They are sitting and not much into small talk like "How are you? How was your day?". Instead they rush scanning your groceries like it is a race between the cashiers. German efficiency... They also sell a lot of no name brands which makes shopping there quite cheap. Try it out and stay safe!

@TheBlackiwid No, heating packs (Wärmflaschen) last quite long. I have one and I use them when my stomach aches, or when I am cold in bed or on the couch, or my girlfriend uses them when she is cold. I have also used them for my back when I have pain in the Ishias area, etc. pp.
Die Wärmflasche hilft auch gut gegen bauchweh/bauchschmerzen :)

Imma come visit, I live on the border
1. product: Wärmeflasche: No, there is no heat up button on this thing. It's as simple as it can get: Pour hot water and screw it tightly, than lay it under your bedsheet. It then produces a lot of warmth.
2. product: Geldbeutel: Used (obvious) to store metal money and paper money - but also the Girocard you can use to pay contact free. The "Ausweis" (identification card) also finds its place here.
3. product: Thermoskanne: Used to take a hot beverage to work, school, etc. You unscrew the top cap which serves as a cup too. There are two buttons on top: the middle one open the thermos can, and now you can pour your drink into the cup (more precise than screwing it completely open - I recommend that if you don't want to get burned - or your drink to cool faster). Upon pressing the button a ring comes up. Pressing this one closes the thermos, and the heat stays in there (mainly cause there is a hollow room inside the metal - it's a bit like a window, where you have glass, nothing, glass).
4. product: Sirup: Can be used to mix beverages with water. Some of them are designed to work with "Wassersprudler" (don't know how to translate that one).
5. product: Müsli: Mostly eaten for breakfast, this one is very tasty. It gives a lot of energy and you can put in it whatever you like. It usually contains oat flakes. Common ingredients are dried fruit (Früchtemüsli) or chocolate (Schokomüsli). Cereals exist in Germany too, but Müsli isn't the word for cereal here - that would be Cornflakes.
6. product: Those are not pizza clippers. This is a Geflügelschere (poultry scissors). It is very strong and can cut straight through chicken (duck, goose) bones. For pizza we have a Pizzaroller. There are even some creative ones that look like a Bicycle, and maybe I'll buy one.
7. product: Erdnuss-Flips: They are made of corn flour which is heated among pressure. In a special machine called Matrize they can expand themselves, but they still bake through, which gives them a very fluffy texture. At last they are covered with sunflower oil, palm oil, coconut fat, grounded peanuts, spices and salt. They have a lot of calories, almost as much as chocolate. When opened they should be eaten in a few days cause they collect the humidity out of the air.
8. product: Quark: It's pasteurised milk that - with the help of casein in milk acid (and milk acid bacteria) - creates a soft but crumbly mass. It counts towards creamy cheese products and is offered with different amounts of fat inside. Magerquark usually has under 10%, Halbfettquark has about 20% and Fettquark has 40%. Although Montana says it is sweet, pure Quark actually is bitter / almost sour.
9. product: Those smartphone bands. I don't have one, and I don't need one. I don't even think there is one for my Honor 8x Max.
10. product: Traubenzucker-Lollies: glucose/dextrose is a quick energy deliverer. In Lollipop-form they are pretty handy. Pharmacys usually give them (in dragee shape but suckable) to children when their parents buy medical drugs. (oh google translate)
11. product: The famous - forbidden - Kinderegg. It's milk chocolate that is pressed in Egg form. It is hollow inside to make room for a little plastic (also egg-shaped) box that contains a little toy.
12. product: The Tintenkiller (ink killer) is used to get ink (for example a wrong written word) off of a paper. The white side is used for this. The blue side is used as a pen to write on ink killer, cause normal ink will just vanish too. In school pens (Kugelschreiber) aren't allowed, so we have to use Füller (modern feather and ink). If the ink killer doesn't completely remove everything anymore it's pretty much a sign it's pretty dead and you'll need to replace it soon. They aren't expensive though, I think 3 of em cost under 1€.
Lol, i'm sure someone has already writen this, I just cannot help it, the thermos has a button on the screw plug, you don't have to unscrew the screw plug everytime you need you need to pour some hot fluid into the cup, just push the button.

the first one is a heating pad fullstop. It's pretty old here in Europe, it's used also to warm up feet. And yes it's how you said it works, pure hot water, tap it back on and it works, no buttons.
The first time I ever saw the concentrated juice, it was a bottle from Canada. So maybe the US doesn't have it, but Canada does or at least did.
Cereals and muesli are 2 different things. We have cereals, muesli it's oat flakes practically.
For sure in Germany they don't use a scissor for pizza. I have bought 2 of the round cutters in diverse German supermarkets and they were pretty easy to find anywhere. I think the scissor she is holding is for some kind of meat actually.
The „Tintenkiller“ (= Ink killer) works on regular fountain pen ink. The color molecules in the ink are responsive to soda for example. If you put washing soda on ink the molecule is switched from a colourful to a transparent state. The ink is not removed but made invisible. It also can be reversed and sometimes over time actually reverses also on the paper.

The hot water bag (Wärmeflasche) is a leftover from times when people did not have heaters for the whole house. You could lay it in the bed and when you went to sleep it was nice warm in the bed. In older times they used heated stones from near the hearth. Also helpful, when you had a cold and chills and fever.
The Thermoscan is very nice to keep Tea or Coffee hot in winter or something else cold in summer. Take the ones made of stainless steel not the ones with glass insert - ever. They break easy.
Sirup is cool - all tapwater in germany is potable unless there is a warning from the local provider. But that is rare. Some tapwater is a bit hard (too much minerals).
That is not a pizzaclipper (never seen one) that looks like a (Geflügelschere) actually to cut chicken, goose or turkey, strong enough to cut most of the bones.

The white sugar squares, that you mentioned look like Xanax, according to her description, are Traubenzucker.... which in Switzerland is told to me glucose extracted from grape juice and flavoured with several different flavours. It's highly recommended for uni students and intellectual workers.

Pfand is a syste mwhere you collect your water bottles and in general bottles and bring them to a store to recieve about 0,25€ per bottle.
I think in some states they do have that, but they don't get as much money for it.
Well, we pay the „Pfand“ upfront so we only get the money back we already had to pay. You only gain money if you collect bottles which a lot of homeless people or old people to who don‘t have enough.

I have ten and fill them with hot water every evening to cover every part of my bed, about half an hour before I go to sleep. So nice and warm! I hold one of them in my arms while falling asleep. :) PS: Quark is not the same as yoghurt and it's used differently, but if you put yogurt over night in a paper coffee filter, so some of the liquid can drop out, it eventually turns into quark.
