vignesh ayyavu bro there are 1000 n 1000 of varieties in cichlid.. like south american, african, Central American.. my suggestion would be start with the basics ( Malawi) once established then u can go for any varieties..

Good one bro. Just bought 4 pair of cichlid fishes. Unfortunately one died bcoz alpha 1, alpha 2,alpha 3 attacked and killed it within 1 day. Hoping other survives in coming days...
Malawi cichlid male has very bright colours and many egg spots in their anal fin but female colours will be very dull compare to male and in anal fin females have only 1 egg spot at the end of anal fin some males don't have even that !! But In Mbuna cichlids it's slight difficult to find out the gender because they look almost similar . U can find only through the colour and the behaviour (Aggression)
U can keep internal hanging filters or canister filter ! Make sure your filteration is high cuz cichlids produce lots of waste and it's mandatory that u need to change 30-40% water every week if you keep hanging filters or sump filters! To keep your cichlids healthy water change of 30-40% is very important ! According to me canister filter will be good for 5ft tank but canister is expensive than other filters !!

A lot of cichlids will take minimum of 1 yr to grow n will take its own time to mature again depends upon the species.. we cannot generalize
Feed the cichlid fries 3-4times a day and try to do 5-6 times 20-40% water change in a week and have minimum 2ft tank your cichlids grows very soon.
