Hi Kevin & family, I was raised in Louisiana, I moved to Southern California about 48 years ago for my military service. I brought a piece of meat from a trip home, it was about 18" long X 6" in diameter. I cooked it for my friends on a back yard grill / smoker. I wouldn't tell them what it was, just let them guess. Some said it was like lobster, some said it reminded them of chicken breast. I finally let them know it was alligator tail... they thought it was the best. Kind wishes & blessings.
Yet again I wish I had a "Scratch an Sniff" screen on my computer. That jerky looks amazing Kevin...I wonder how long it will last. Great video, thumbs up.
Got my first buck yesterday! I've only been hunting for 3 years. And it was mostly because I don't like my nearly 80 year old dad out by himself since his older brother can't go with him any longer. I'm loving the daddy daughter time. Wish he had taught me this 50 years ago.

We are definitely meat hunters as well. I took up muzzleloader this year and was blessed with 2 does within 5 minutes of each other. My husband so far has taken 3 does. We process them ourselves and we learned to brine and make pastrami this year. We smoke, freeze, can and freeze dry the venison. Thanks for the heads up on the TH-cam channel Venison for Dinner.

I love the idea of the smoker tube. I've never seen anything like it before. I would use that on my grill, while I smoke meat on the grill. I make BBQ pork chops, and this would be so much easier than soaking wood chips, and putting them right on the hot charcoal. When I do it this way, the wood chips don't last long enough. Great video, Kevin. I do make jerky occasionally so will have to try this one. Just getting ready to fry up some venison tenderloin with onions, peppers and mushrooms. This is our favorite for jerky. I am also a 70 year old female and have been hunting for 40+ years. We usually get 4 bucks but this year didn't have any luck during bow season so only got two in rifle season. For anyone who doesn't have venison, any jerky recipe will work with beef!! I've even made turkey jerky!! Good luck during the rest of your hunting season!! Love all the video's you and Sarah do. Keep up the great work. God Bless
We have around 100# of venison in freezer, thanks to 1 of my daughters friends. I haven't hunted in over 30 years, but husband & I have been seriously talking about it. I'll have to try this recipe! Thanks!
If you have more than 20 ac, you can get free farm tags for deer in Mo. I am the same way I’m in it for the meat, but if a big buck walks by me, that’s just icing on the cake!
Hi Kevin- well I have used my combination NH hunting /fishing license in the past, but now my brother-in-law does the deer hunting. It has been hit or miss these last few years. If I was starving, I have no problem squirrel hunting or upland bird, but we raise grass fed Hereford. One is headed for our freezers as soon as it is done aging. I do love venison when we have it. I like your marinade. Sounds like a winner for taste and tenderizing! If it was up to me, I would raise meat rabbits again. They can be raised without grain, if the grain supply dries up. Hunting season ends this weekend here in northern MN. We are a hunting family and love being able to feed our family for the winter with some good venison. We also make jerky along with lunchmeat, breakfast sausage, ground burger, and of course I can a lot also. Nothing better then some tenderloin or backstrap with breakfast or any other meal.
I read this as I watch my husband in orange sitting in a tree hunting right out our back door! We live out in the boonies in southern Mn! Good luck to your family this hunting season!

OH MY GOSH, I haven’t had venison jerky in years, I would have to make this with beef. I sold my smoker when we moved from Oregon to northern Arkansas this spring, would liquid smoke work in this recipe. My mouth is watering!
Even though we raise our own cattle, we primarily eat wild game for our red meat. Here in Wyoming we are blessed. We have 3 plentiful wild game sources, deer, antelope, and elk. I harvested an elk this year, I’ll have to try this recipe.
I haven't been able to hunt in over 20 years, single working mother with no local open hunting ground in my area of Missouri. I get deer meat by processing meat that a friend of my sons kill. They kill, gut and quarter, I debone and cut up into their specifications. I get to keep a portion of what I process. This year I got to keep a whole deer. There are always ways to provide for my family.

WOW...we have been a family of 4 as well here in MO and we haven't EVER eaten 3 deer in a year in addition to our other meat....Holy cow!!!That's a ton of meat combined!
I picked up a smoke tube yesterday and gave your recipe a try. I have a smaller Traeger grill but managed to get most of the jerky done in one batch. The smoke tube is amazing and the recipe provided for an awesome flavor for the meat. Thank you so much for sharing!
This makes my mouth water 😋 We took a road trip this week south into BC, Canada. Saw lots of wood bison, moose, elk, mule deer & caribou. Even a lynx was sitting on the bank watching the road😆. We have some beautiful moose meat this year but would love to get a bison or elk next year! Thanks for sharing this recipe!
I was watching a butcher make jerky and he recommended cutting the meat agains the grain, and the reason made since to me. By cutting against the grain the grain will run horizontally allowing the meat to tear at the teeth rather than wanting to go vertically. I’m going to try it next time I process a deer. This recipe looks good too!
My mother and my uncle would take turns cooking Thanksgiving dinner. They would always make 3 meats: turkey, maybe duck or roast, and if we were lucky, a venison roast! This venison jerky sounds so good!
5 deer in the freezer is not uncommon where I come from in Northern Michigan . Before we retired to Florida my wife and I never bought store bought beef. Anything that can be made with beef can be made with venison.
I miss hunting and I live in lower Michigan (👋 from a troll! Lol) I havent gotten a deer other than with my jeep in a few years. Luckily my ex son in law always remembers me if he gets lucky cuz he knows I'm here for him and the grandkiddos as much as I'm here for my daughter and the grandkiddos lol (They do a lot of sports and extra curricular stuff and juggling their schedules takes 4 of us some days 🤣 ) To me the venison down here in farmland tastes like what I remember good farm raised beef tasting like. I cleaned our freezer recently to squeeze a few cheap turkeys in and I found several small packs of venison steak thst fell to the bottom. I'm thinking venison stir-fry with the sweet peppers I have from the garden in the freezer too. I'm hoping he gets a deer this year too.
Awesome video! And you can change up a few ingredients in the marinade and experiment I bet. Kate is a hit with almost everyone I know, she has a lovely family. God bless!
I am so happy for you to be able to be self sufficient in these unpredictable times. Maybe you will be able to help out people when times get really bad (according to Bible prophecies - if you know what I mean) . I think God put you in this position for a reason. He is looking out after your family. I wish you well.
We stopped using charcoal years ago. We buy the wood briquettes at trader joes and other brands of wood charcoal. The flavor is so much cleaner with the wood and you do not need an entire tree so it cost effective. Thank you for the great video wonderful way to get protein.
We play a “Living Traditions Drinking Game”. Everybody has to take a drink every time you guys say “super”. We’re usually drunk by the end of your videos!
I love deer jerky! Thanks for the nice video. We made salsa and smoked all our veggies unpeeled tomatoes , peppers ,onions, garlic. On the smoked for several hours. Wow that is so yummy. Might want to try it. We can it and love to take it to friends and family. Don’t tell them it’s smoked. I love watching there faces. It’s gone in no time.
We live in Western Canada and fortunately in the flight path of Canadian and Snow geese. We've started making jerky from goose meat. It's awesome. Worth a try if you have access to the meat. Also use deer, elk and moose.
My sister has a smoker. Unfortunately we didn't get to deer hunt this year. But next year my twin sister and I are going. Making it a girls time 🤣 my husband isn't a hunter so I get to bring home the meat. Just didn't have time this season.
Hello!! I put my raw jerky and the soak in the bag to vacuum pack before letting it set!!! It’s amazing and in the vacuum it puts the flavor right into the meat! ☺️
I had a Traeger pellet smoker and it did a great job… When it worked. I went through 5-6 of the same smokers because the digital temp output or the motor the moves the pellets would break constantly. But when the smoker worked it was awesome and did a great job.
Gifted a hind leg last week. It is cut up and in the freezer until we get time to cook and I want to make some venison jerky. This recipe sounds great and we also just got a Traeger so will be trying the recipe next week. Glad to hear you have been hunt successful.
I coudn't resist : whow, whow, "He-man" Kevin. (I'm chuckling at your "confession") I've never tasted "natur-fed" venison but after this recipe, I'll be trying it, if not for deer then beef. This has been very informatve. Thankyou.
I have to admit guys that here in Canada using soya sauce, garlic and pepper on venison is a “norm”, anything else is like a specialty 😆 the only way I will eat it is that way personally as the flavours are a tad too gamey otherwise but it’s a personal preference. Thank you for sharing this recipe with others

Yup. It makes a big difference in the tenderness of your meat.
We have had a pellet grill and a smoker for about 5 years or so. We love both of them.
My mother and my uncle would take turns cooking Thanksgiving dinner. They would always make 3 meats: turkey, maybe duck or roast, and if we were lucky, a venison roast! This venison jerky sounds so good!
Now that sounds more like an authentic Thanksgiving dinner!
Luckily my ex son in law always remembers me if he gets lucky cuz he knows I'm here for him and the grandkiddos as much as I'm here for my daughter and the grandkiddos lol
(They do a lot of sports and extra curricular stuff and juggling their schedules takes 4 of us some days 🤣 )
To me the venison down here in farmland tastes like what I remember good farm raised beef tasting like.
How to on the smoke log .
Great job Kevin!
Good Morning! Venison jerky is so so good! My husband and I both deer hunt. We love venison meat!! Great video!!
We play a “Living Traditions Drinking Game”. Everybody has to take a drink every time you guys say “super”. We’re usually drunk by the end of your videos!
I love deer jerky. I haven't had any for years though.
The best chili I ever had was made with ground venison a friend gave me. Fifteen years later my son still talks about that chili.
We made deer jerky every hunting season here in Michigan....so yummy!
Thank you Kevin. Yum ! Looks so good. God Bless you all in Love. ( shared to f/b )
I absolutely love venison!🥰
Hello!! I put my raw jerky and the soak in the bag to vacuum pack before letting it set!!! It’s amazing and in the vacuum it puts the flavor right into the meat! ☺️
I’m looking forward to using that recipe I can’t wait to try that sounds really good
Oh it looks so good! Thank you for sharing. And thank you for the smoking tube idea.

Corpus Christi TX
Now my mouth is watering. Thank-you for the video.
Hi from Syracuse NY brother and thank you for sharing your thoughts and adventures
That jerky looks amazing!
Thanks Grace and peace.
I had a Traeger pellet smoker and it did a great job… When it worked. I went through 5-6 of the same smokers because the digital temp output or the motor the moves the pellets would break constantly. But when the smoker worked it was awesome and did a great job.
I love Jerky Its so good I well definitely remember that recipe when I try making It
Sounds delicious. 😋 And Good Morning. I using my pallet grill.
Awesome tutorial! My husband loves jerky! We’re in Troy, Missouri and my husband has gotten three deer, so far!
I just got a 4th one tonight!
Here in North Dakota a lot of us women hunt deer right along side our men. It’s great to have venison in the freezer!
Thankyou.
Love following this channel !
That venison is gorgeous! My daddy used to make venison stew and it was so good it would make you hurt yourself eating it! lol
We just put venison in the marinade for her key tomorrow. We’ve not tried it on the smoker but we’ll fit sure try this!! Thank you!!
Kevin have you recorded any of your hunts? That would be awesome!! I was out early this morning looking for a big doe
Looks SO yummy!! 🤤
