My Dad used to hold me untill I fell asleep to this song and a few others when I was about four, and it haunts me in the best of ways to this day. This song means a lot to me, thank you so much for posting it!
It is the most beautiful comment I have read here. I am currently 33 years old. and it is impossible to feel nostalgia for a time in which I did not yet exist. When I hear this song, a feeling that moistens my eyes, grabs my heart. It's as if when I heard this song, memories of another time and other experiences came to me. When I watch movies like something wild or listen to this beautiful Cliff song, I like to think that maybe I lived all this in a life that belonged to me in the past. and that somehow, I'm still clinging to her. Greetings from Spain.
Beautiful Song, Great Movie, The TONAL shifts in this movie is just breathtaking the first hour of Something Wild is better than a lot of full feature length movies that i have seen and that's just the first hour. Such an underrated gem there are some cult movies out there that some people are still aware of for example (Blue Velvet) but for some reason Something Wild somehow got really lost in the wilderness, I mean there are a lot of people who still have no idea that this movie even exists. Still hard to get on DVD too this is a real cult gem the soundtrack and film i will never forget.....Lucky to have seen it years ago on TV.....
Classic movie that never ages and It's message transcends time , life and truly "living" Is a wild adventure. They just don't make em like this anymore , In fact It's almost Impossible to make movies like this ever again , society Is just too fake with too much technology around to ever be allowed to feel as naturally liberated In a modern setting by such a simple down to earth string of events as Charlie did here. Never forget "It's better to be a live dog than a dead lion".
This is a great song, and the movie reminds me of my childhood. I spent so many nights trying to watch hbo in my room with my parents half asleep as I snuck R rated movies 😂 this was one of them and I always loved it. Melanie Griffith was so hot in it. I first saw jimmy cliff in club paradise with robin williams , I didn’t know he was an actual musician though until about 2 weeks ago when I watched this movie again... you tube is great for stuff like this.
Just watched the movie Sat nite, it's bloody marvellous. Roy Liotta is freakin' scary in this movie. Such a pity Jonathan Demme never made another great movie after The Silence of the Lambs. I'm a big fan of Married To the Mob, too - Demme seemed to specialise in solid, strong roles for his main character, usually a woman. I wished he'd made just one more "hip" movie...
I don't believe in helplessly hoping I don't believe in some promised land The life we live is whatever we make it No one is coming to lead us by the hand.
Doug & Carole , when I first heard this lyric while watching the movie I felt does it really take for us to go through warfare for us to understand each other's pain ? Are we really that uncaring or just to busy going through life with blinders on like horses or is it that we're just that cold-hearted ! I've always said that the only real justice & fairness in this world is what you put into it or create for yourself and others ! And if you happen upon it thank God for your blessings !
One of my FAVORITE soundtracks, and film

Great song. I've listened to the soundtrack too many times to count, over the years. Loved the movie, too. Early Jonathan Demme film.
