  • This is the first of a series of "YEAH, I SAID IT!" poems where I honestly speak out against the effects of white supremacy and its negative effects on the mindsets of Black people. About 88 years ago, Carter Woodson, who wrote "The Mis-education of the Negro," was very vocal about how unrelenting oppression trains Black people to accept less, do less, be less. I decided to revive and channel some of his energy through poetry, as he said in 1933: “Real education means to inspire people to live more abundantly, to learn to begin with life as they find it and make it better,”
