Hi guys, forgot to mention in my video that a few months ago this game contained a lot more sky related items. This included around 15+ capes which matched the same designs in sky. You can check old ocean videos to see them. This was one of my other reasons for believing the game copied sky- which is even more compelling considering they were randomly removed from the game. A few people have pointed out this game resembles tap tap abyssrium which I completely agree with (I used to play that game all the time). But I believe there are even older fish games than tap tap (although these were removed from the App Store at some point). So this concept of fish collecting games isn’t very new and has been copied a lot. Overall I still recommend you guys check out the game to get your own feel and opinion of it. It has a lot of improving but still shows lots of promise!
Honestly I wouldn’t have a problem with it until it got to the capes/scarves. They are super iconic and specific to Sky and don’t even make sense in an aquatic game. They could do like, fish fins and tails as a cosmetic instead and it would be fine.
Also, the fact that all the hairs are white, the defult outfit being light brown and just the fact that it doesn't make sense having capes underwater tells it all.
I always thought that Sky was a cosmetics simulator with limited areas but... this one may feel worse. Just, come on. 4000 ads for a single fish? It's just taking out our time and money... But I don't think the creator(s) had tried to "copy" Sky, they probably only just really liked the looks of a Skykid and tried to implement it into their game. But I feel that if it is looks, not lore, then it would make much more sense if Luna was a mermaid :v
Yep I’ve seen a lot of people suggest a mermaid look. Doesn’t make sense to have a cape under water 😅 and yep the adds are so bad. I think you can actually unlock fish if you watch 1000+ ads

Sky is a game to have a good time and relax, the cosmetics are secondary and are like elements of the stories that are told in the events. It is not bad to want to give a unique look to the character, but the main thing is to explore, have adventures, know the stories of the game and the events, and have a good time. They need to get revenue, they are not taking away game experience by not paying. *The game is free, it doesn't charge you game experience, and every event has a lot of love behind it, But they need money somehow to keep the game going, friend!* In the case of SKY: COTL You don't just pay for cosmetics, you also help to keep the game on correct track, and if you can't pay, just the fact that you play and enjoy it is wonderful.

There’s also the game “fish abyss: aquarium simulator”. I feel like they used sky to make their game a bit more original but it failed. And yeah I agree they’ve barely done any marketing for the game and skykids seem to be the only people playing it.

The only main difference between the two is that one is opaque and the other one is more translucent. But yeah that’s a really suspicious thing and thatgamecompany could get involved, who knows.
The thing is I would like an underwater version of Sky (something more robust than what we got during season of abyss). Several members that worked on Sky made Abzu which was a cool game. I would even suggest an underwater expansion to Sky that adds more areas, Abzu like swim mechanics, and fish collecting etc. I just think it would be a cool idea. Maybe instead of regular spirits we can have "merspirits". My biggest thing is I would like to see more areas with better swim mechanics than what we have in Sky now. It would add something fresh to the game.
I have my own head cannon for sky based off this game. Where technically instead of a sky child landing on the isle of dawn, they got set offcourse and landed in the water. Being saved by manta's somehow, and becoming Sky's equivalent of a mermaid
I get that a lot of people here don't want to jump into conclusions but let's be real here, the developers definitely knew Sky and shamelessly copied the homework with so little effort to change some details. Like just think about it, why do you need capes in a swimming simulator? In Sky it makes sense that we have capes because skykids fly and the capes act like a pair of wings. And let's not start with the cosmetics, I know Sky didn't invent white hair, capes, yellowy brown outfit, simplistic avatar with no mouth and fingers, etc but when 90% of the other game's cosmetics look awfully similar, you can't help but go "hmmmmmmm 🤔🤔". Also I find it really weird that the main character has such a simplistic design while all other animals look a lot more detailed. Why did they decide to use that design for the MC? And it suspiciously looks a *tad bit similar* to the design of another game 🤔 Suuuuuspiciousss
This game is not taking away from Sky only. Please look up the game Abyssarium and see for yourself. The specifications are exactly the same, from the corals to the fish to everything else!!!😰
I think some of the cosmetics require you to watch 1000+ adverts (30 seconds each). I wish anyone luck in getting that haha Edit: also just had a look at the cosmetics and about 80% of them you have to buy (including the ones in this video). They cost around £4.99 each
I don't think this studio could come close to the fine art set-piece that is every moment of Sky. The music and the way it communicates as heavily as the scenes is.. something else, and really drives home the non verbal game.
Had there been permission asked and granted, the whole idea would have been perfectly fine. However, what is more, likely than not to be the case is the game is copying a popular game to boost its own player base and a lot of people have taken note of that. Humans are not always this ignorant, and that is blatant plagiarism.
I agree! Like I’ve only seen sky kids playing it. I have to say tho there isn’t many TH-cam videos on the game and mines been the biggest so far 😅 maybe I’m too blame for giving it attention

Yeah it’ll be interesting to see if TGC responds to this- no doubt they’ve already seen the game and are working in the background to resolve these issues if there are any
That is what I am saying, sky is a very generous game as a mobile game, and is more in line with what a lot of steam games do, helll I would say sky is better then a lot of steam games with their seasons since you can’t even participate in those seasons. But you can still participate in the sky seasons without payment, besides the cosmetics
You say that cape is unique but there was a limited addition cape just like it …like exactly the same. Blue with the waves on it. I think it was called the ocean cape! Also there was a manta cape in sanctuary island season which paying players got with the seasonal hearts which is similar also. Actually the ocean cape was part of that season also but you had to pay for it, like with cash, for a limited time.

Tbh, the hairstyles in sky aren't "unique" sense you see the same type of hairstyles in other games, though the Gmail eitself does give off sky vibes. I doubt there would be a lawsuit sense I'm not seeing any clear cut case of stealing. Seashell hairpins seem like something that'd fit in a game about the sea and fish, so yea. Outfits, idk, can't say much about it.
Oh, I remember that game. I tried to play it once but damn that game was buggy. It was super laggy and I kept getting a black screen. Uninstalled and never got to play it.
Some developers sell some of their programs or something to other companies. If Sky dev didn't sue this game, they probably sold them some progs or something.
So when the game came out there was a lot of sky capes in it (like exact copies- you can see them on old ocean videos from 3 months ago). These capes have now been removed and replaced with scarves. If they had bought the program I don’t think they would have made such a big change.
maybe they got very inspired, but ended up looking like a copy, but who knows, maybe someone that worked in this game could have worked in tgc and this could have been a side project they made. just a theory :3
While the game’s character is very similar to the Children of Light, I don’t think it’d be enough for a lawsuit unfortunately, the game itself has enough differences from Sky and stuff like the shell accessory you could argue that “of course it looks similar, there aren’t many ways to make shell accessories” it’d be funny if that did happen tho! Please update us if a lawsuit happens :) Also on a different note, I don’t like games that make you feel pressured into paying for stuff, Sky has a lot of purchases that you can make, but you can still get a lotta unique items without paying a dime. I just wish I was better at making friends in Sky, everyone is always so nice, but once we actually get to a point to communicate, they speak a different language or somethin. Sometimes I feel like I’m in the wrong server, but I don’t think you can change that, can you? Of course I’m still friends with the people I can’t communicate with tho ‘cause luckily even with a language barrier there’s so many expressive emotes you can use to communicate your thoughts, emotions, and personality, but you know it’s just not as in depth as actually using words. Sky really is like the nicest game community I’ve ever come across though and I love it!
yep I'll keep everyone updated! I plan to contact TGC and see if they can let us know. Although, if something legal was going on they probably can't share it. And yeah I dont feel like sky pressures anyone to buy items. It just depends on your taste and if you like the item. There's still lots to do in the game without them. I have the same problem with making friends but the game did add a translate feature recently which has been amazing and definitely helps now! If you aren't part of the sky official discord I recommend joining it and making friends through there. Thats how I've gotten most of my friends :)
I dunno...gives me tap tap abyssrium vibes to me. But at least they have better outfits. And at least the capes have variety in colors. That's just what I think 🤔
So I downloaded it at the beginning of the video like 10/15 secs in but then she said what she said at the end about the pay to win and I just I don’t even wanna open it now

It’s not that they invented them 😅 it’s the design (like quite literally the hairstyles are a 90%+ match). I believe the game developers were made aware of this as, in recent updates, a lot of items that were very similar to those in Sky, were removed from the game (e.g. capes, hairstyles, etc). But there are still a lot of similar designs left in the game.
I was gonna just chalk it up as someone who wanted the same vibe of Sky, but mainly underwater with specific sea life being the more dominant animals of the game. But the fact that it has so much microtransactions and ads pretty much screams "we just want money instead, Sky is a well known and popular mobile game and looks easy to replicate. We'll do just that and hope some poor sucker wastes money on this game instead!" I wouldn't be surprised if the creator of this game has a bunch of similar ad ridden mobile games and alt 'game company' accounts.
I did some research. Apparently, it did not only copy Sky, but also copied a game called “Dear my Cat”. LikeitGames and That Game Company could literally sue these people.
Despite it being a copy i feel like some of the copied cosmetics are actually kind of better than the OG, mainly from the hair. The game does actually look like it did have effort in it but its a shame that they’ve copied sky.
This is not the only game that copied sky, there's another sky copy thats actually a mobile game, is called to the sky and the characters look alike, is a parkour game
Like any other game copy theyre usually just cash grabs made cheap with the use of probably interns. It over all doesn't really matter if you decide to support the game or not, if its fun to you then go off and enjoy it lol. Its not like the creators of the 'Inspired games' are truly losing any money or anything from this 99.9% of the time since the original players or any new players can see which version is the better version in their own opinion and play that one :). It is however a problem if they blatantly steal assets (as in, somehow get the original model of the asset) and make money off of it but that will just result in a lawsuit.
Tbh, I don't understand why they chose a cape, and they're not even trying to make the default cape look aquatic theme They should try make Luna resemble more of a jellyfish, atleast a simple designed jellyfish girl? Imagine the plenty potential amount of players they'll recieve Atleast the Sky's default version resembles of a moth, especially the cape, since the story is about children being made of light, they're supposed to fly, and moths are known to be attracted to light
I tried this game when it got released and I was so dissapointed it was just another IDLE clicker game. The descriptions are so vague with getting friends which are just fish you buy to progress. With such graphics I expected something more than just a waiting game.
Oh gosh, when I downloaded this game (which I deleted like a day after) I thought it was by the same creator who made sky because everything was so similar.. ;;;
I’m actually not sure. I got it from an ambient sound compilation on TH-cam. If you have an iPhone you can use Siri to ask “what song is this” and then Siri will identify it ✌🏼
Been with Sky since the android release of 2020.. (halfway through Enchantment), and have no problem just watching from the sidelines with this game...let them try reaching the level of player count as Sky..then we'll talk. Truthfully....this game.. should they try to be as accomodating to the player's needs (gameplay, world design, cool features, fair pricing)...and not be too greedy,...the money will flow naturally as the fans grow over time.
If im a gamw developer i will be flattered that someone copying my game because that means my game is popular but if that copy affect my revenue then thats the time i will got mad tho still an honor to get copied but not to the extent that my revenue will be sacrifice
That’s quite an interesting take on it! I think a lot of people see copying in game development as a sign of laziness and a lack of creativity. This is especially annoying for game developers when they have worked hard to come up with designs and concepts and these are ripped off or stolen. I’d unfortunately be on this side of the argument but it’s super interesting to see your opinion! The world would definitely be nicer if we all saw it that way 😂 Sky is definitely a beautiful game and im sure the developers would be flattered to some extent.

The manta cape is already in Sky -- there's like 2 of them xD
But not really a transparent one (although the aurora cape will be transparent so maybe more capes like that will be coming)!

Tbh, the hairstyles in sky aren't "unique" sense you see the same type of hairstyles in other games, though the Gmail eitself does give off sky vibes.
I doubt there would be a lawsuit sense I'm not seeing any clear cut case of stealing. Seashell hairpins seem like something that'd fit in a game about the sea and fish, so yea. Outfits, idk, can't say much about it.

Some developers sell some of their programs or something to other companies. If Sky dev didn't sue this game, they probably sold them some progs or something.
So when the game came out there was a lot of sky capes in it (like exact copies- you can see them on old ocean videos from 3 months ago). These capes have now been removed and replaced with scarves. If they had bought the program I don’t think they would have made such a big change.

While the game’s character is very similar to the Children of Light, I don’t think it’d be enough for a lawsuit unfortunately, the game itself has enough differences from Sky and stuff like the shell accessory you could argue that “of course it looks similar, there aren’t many ways to make shell accessories” it’d be funny if that did happen tho! Please update us if a lawsuit happens :)
Also on a different note, I don’t like games that make you feel pressured into paying for stuff, Sky has a lot of purchases that you can make, but you can still get a lotta unique items without paying a dime.
I just wish I was better at making friends in Sky, everyone is always so nice, but once we actually get to a point to communicate, they speak a different language or somethin. Sometimes I feel like I’m in the wrong server, but I don’t think you can change that, can you? Of course I’m still friends with the people I can’t communicate with tho ‘cause luckily even with a language barrier there’s so many expressive emotes you can use to communicate your thoughts, emotions, and personality, but you know it’s just not as in depth as actually using words. Sky really is like the nicest game community I’ve ever come across though and I love it!
yep I'll keep everyone updated! I plan to contact TGC and see if they can let us know. Although, if something legal was going on they probably can't share it. And yeah I dont feel like sky pressures anyone to buy items. It just depends on your taste and if you like the item. There's still lots to do in the game without them.
I have the same problem with making friends but the game did add a translate feature recently which has been amazing and definitely helps now! If you aren't part of the sky official discord I recommend joining it and making friends through there. Thats how I've gotten most of my friends :)

I downloaded it because I thought that it was like Sky and since I like the ocean I thought it will be a great game to have
So I downloaded it at the beginning of the video like 10/15 secs in but then she said what she said at the end about the pay to win and I just I don’t even wanna open it now

It’s not that they invented them 😅 it’s the design (like quite literally the hairstyles are a 90%+ match). I believe the game developers were made aware of this as, in recent updates, a lot of items that were very similar to those in Sky, were removed from the game (e.g. capes, hairstyles, etc). But there are still a lot of similar designs left in the game.

I was gonna just chalk it up as someone who wanted the same vibe of Sky, but mainly underwater with specific sea life being the more dominant animals of the game. But the fact that it has so much microtransactions and ads pretty much screams "we just want money instead, Sky is a well known and popular mobile game and looks easy to replicate. We'll do just that and hope some poor sucker wastes money on this game instead!" I wouldn't be surprised if the creator of this game has a bunch of similar ad ridden mobile games and alt 'game company' accounts.

I did some research. Apparently, it did not only copy Sky, but also copied a game called “Dear my Cat”. LikeitGames and That Game Company could literally sue these people.
Despite it being a copy i feel like some of the copied cosmetics are actually kind of better than the OG, mainly from the hair. The game does actually look like it did have effort in it but its a shame that they’ve copied sky.

Like any other game copy theyre usually just cash grabs made cheap with the use of probably interns. It over all doesn't really matter if you decide to support the game or not, if its fun to you then go off and enjoy it lol. Its not like the creators of the 'Inspired games' are truly losing any money or anything from this 99.9% of the time since the original players or any new players can see which version is the better version in their own opinion and play that one :).
It is however a problem if they blatantly steal assets (as in, somehow get the original model of the asset) and make money off of it but that will just result in a lawsuit.

Atleast the Sky's default version resembles of a moth, especially the cape, since the story is about children being made of light, they're supposed to fly, and moths are known to be attracted to light
I tried this game when it got released and I was so dissapointed it was just another IDLE clicker game. The descriptions are so vague with getting friends which are just fish you buy to progress. With such graphics I expected something more than just a waiting game.

Been with Sky since the android release of 2020.. (halfway through Enchantment), and have no problem just watching from the sidelines with this game...let them try reaching the level of player count as Sky..then we'll talk.
Truthfully....this game.. should they try to be as accomodating to the player's needs (gameplay, world design, cool features, fair pricing)...and not be too greedy,...the money will flow naturally as the fans grow over time.

That’s quite an interesting take on it! I think a lot of people see copying in game development as a sign of laziness and a lack of creativity. This is especially annoying for game developers when they have worked hard to come up with designs and concepts and these are ripped off or stolen. I’d unfortunately be on this side of the argument but it’s super interesting to see your opinion! The world would definitely be nicer if we all saw it that way 😂 Sky is definitely a beautiful game and im sure the developers would be flattered to some extent.
