I walk in Philadelphia, PA from Pat's King of Steaks in Passyunk Square along 9th Street, through the 9th Street Italian Market, and continue along 9th Street to Market Street. I then make my way to the Greyhound Bus Terminal in Chinatown and Center City.
From Wikipedia about the Italian Market:
"The Italian Market is the popular name for the South 9th Street Curb Market, an area of South Philadelphia featuring many grocery shops, cafes, restaurants, bakeries, cheese shops, butcher shops, etc., many with an Italian influence. The historical heart of the market is the area of 9th Street between Christian Street and Washington Avenue, and is now generally considered to extend from Fitzwater Street at the north to Wharton Street at the south. The term Italian Market is also used to describe the surrounding neighborhood between South Street to the North and Wharton Street to the South running a few blocks to the east and west of 9th street.
Although it is considered the social and commercial heart of the Philadelphia Italian community, the Ninth Street Market was an ethnic mix from its inception. In recent years, an influx of immigrants from Latin America, mainly from Mexico and to a lesser degree from Central American countries like Guatemala and El Salvador, has significantly changed the Italian Market area and it is now also home to many stores and restaurants catering to South Philadelphia's Hispanic population."

The only section of South Philly that I lived in was the Grays Ferry section, when I was a preschooler. I mostly lived in Southwest Philly and in the suburbs of Delaware County. But, my mom and her whole side of the family all came from South Philly. My grandparents were from 10th & Carpenter and my great-grandparents from 11th & Christian. So, I spent time in South Philly going to visit family members and going to eat at Pat's Steaks and Gino's, etc.

9th Street [formerly called "the Italian Market] used to be so busy that you would have to squeeze through to get to your favorite produce stand or restaurant. Everybody moved to the suburbs; and now the grand kids are moving back.

That hospital on the right at 17m22s, was actually the very first established hospital 🏥 at least in Philly. And was free for Philadelphians' I believe in the late 1700's- early 1800's, I think 💭 great videos' you create as well

When will Philadelphia gentrify all those ghetto neighborhoods in the North? It’s full of historic houses, they’d make amazing neighborhoods if renovated

Except cleanliness and less crowded streets/roads, there is nothing more. No trees and green areas, cracked. broken road crossings and lot of vehicular traffic.

These are the two worse places in Philly to buy steaks and hoagies - best places, your local neighborhood steak shop. The Italian Market as I knew it is gone. The Italians sold to the Asians with Mexicans and Latino merchants and the goods are shitty. When you know how things were you can’t spend your money here anymore.
