Happy Fall everyone! Such a wonderful time of year! In this video I celebrate the beauty of fall with a gorgeous river and the golden glow of autumn's finest. Many times we approach a beautiful scene and would like to paint it. The scene may be fairly complicated, and often times can cause one to say "I'd like to paint that but don't know where to start". I break down a scene that contains layers of information and I show you how to make it approachable, step-by-step. I hope you enjoy this video and give it a go!

That was so amazing. Painting a changing natural scene can be so challenging. You need to pause time so you can grab those colors. Wonderful !

I finally understand the theory & process behind greying down color to emulate nature. Coincidentally I just (this past week) failed at a very similar scene with lots of beautiful yellow & orange foliage (from a photo though, fall is over here) My biggest fail is always yellow. Even by adding a little titanium white, it is always too transparent & too green, too dull, no ‘pop’. I don’t typically look for excuses lol but do u (or ur viewers) feel this could demand a more expensive cad yellow?? Something more buttery in consistency?? My typical paint quality is mid level.

Thank you Jessica. I really loved your painting. Autumn is such a great time to paint. Would you tell me please what make/model tripod you use? I have the Coulter easel but it does not fit well onto the tripod I use. I believe the SLIK model that James Coulter recommended is no longer available. Thank you.

As a beginner, I am very disappointed in that you did not show the color mixing. I do watch many videos on color mixing, but it would have been nice to see you mix the colors and apply. Sorry, I had to turn off this video within the first 5 minutes as a result of you not showing color mixing as you painted.
Looks great before you finished. Looks a bit like K Mart Art and looks cheap.
