And here Mormons don’t like anything they can’t make money off without putting their name on it. we have laws so the church can grow marijuana anonymously, they repealed a law WE VOTED FOR to change it so they can profit!! So much for separation of church and state.

Yeah, exactly, it's classic have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too thinking that's pretty much running the whole GOP now. There's a similar debate going on in Minnesota where the southern portion wants to join in with Iowa, but oops, doesn't want to lose all the clean water and crop acts that Minnesota's famous for and drive every penny of their agriculture. So you want to get free money and keep your crops healthy... while voting _against_ people getting free money and keeping their crops healthy?
Although at least the Minnesota one carries a little extra weight since, for some Godforsaken reason, Iowa still has that all-important first caucus that essentially determines who our presidential nominees are gonna be.

I live in Washington state and we've had the same up here. The eastern half of the state wanted to break away and form a new state because they didn't like the politics and policies of the elected representatives. Unfortunately for them, and the Oregonians who want to join with Idaho, that would require the U.S. Congress to pass legislation in support of it AND the state legislature(s) (in this case Idaho and Oregon) to do the same. Ain't gunna happen.

It actually started off as a fairly conservative state, and only moved more liberal with the rise of cities. Like Portland, Salem, Eugene, Medford, and Bend. Here’s my problem, when they shift the border to where eastern Oregon becomes part of Idaho, considering the fact that not only Boise and other Idaho cities are fast growing, but Idaho, as a whole is, what is Boise becomes the new Portland, or they just going to want to shift the borders every time one of their cities gets too many liberal voters?

It’s always just been code for “I look out for my friends and family, and everyone else should starve to death-except, of course, large corporations and extremely wealthy people because I let them brainwash me into doing whatever they tell me to do.” It’s a combination of greed, tunnel vision, obstinate jerkiness, and brazen stupidity.

Most of the state’s beef and wheat and a lot of the rest of the produce is grown there. Is the area as a whole a financial juggernaut? No. Are the people there benefitting from tax income generated by residents of the Willamette valley in the western part of the state? Yes. But it’s far from being “a desolate wasteland.”

And some Idahoans think they should annex federal land as well. It is hard for many people who don't live in the west to grasp that the federal government owns so much of the land out here - something like 60% of all the land in Idaho is owned and controlled by the federal government. But these folks ignore the fact that there is a high administrative cost to maintaining large tracts of empty land...and of course, they are also the same ones who don't want to pay taxes to fund government services that would manage all this land.
If Idaho took over their federal lands, and annexed all this Oregon land (over 50% is federal, and mostly in these areas)... imagine how much public lands they'd have to manage at the state level and the additional funding (read: taxes) they would need for it. These include some counties in Oregon who have failed to fund county emergency services in recent years to the point that you could only call 911 during business hours. That's freedumb!
