such a masterpiece, my hole childhood ✨actually, the colors of the movie are one of the details that make me love it so much on top of everything else !
I've been watching Gene Kelly this week and loving it. He also "choreographs" normal scenes like this. Most drama could be much more interesting if it were treated like a musical
Great video! I was sure I was watching a channel with 400 000 subscribers or something like that and was very surprised to see that you have only about 2 K subscribers. I subscribed immediately and hope your channel blows up soon!
Great analysis! I had heard some bits about why character lateral movement is important, but I appreciate you explaining it a bit more and showing how important it is in a film.
@@ThePinkBookworm love it! which reminds me, I saw many similarities between that scene and the A Lovely Night scene from La La Land, wouldn't be surprised if the scene from La La Land drew inspirations from Sixteen Going On Seventeen
Thank you! i actually watched the first episode a while back, and actually really liked it, but i was in the middle of like 3 series at the time so went on to finish others and havent gotten back to it yet
Why were classic movies often so long? Because a movie theater was more than just a place to watch a movie. It was a refuge from the heat, a place to hear music played on a quality sound system, and be exposed to the world. Or escape from the world. There was no mobile phone, no internet, no DVDs, and 3 channels of TV at most. Movies were one of the few places a middle class person could passively relax in comfort, where the social norm was for everyone to be quiet and leave everyone else to their thoughts. The theaters were air conditioned. I grew up in the the US in the Deep South. Many middle class homes lacked central air conditioning. Most home stereo systems could not come close to the quality of sound systems in a theater. I remember our first color TV. Going to the movies and seeing cartoons was magical. Remember there was no television, then just three channels of black & white programming. Seeing scenery in other parts of the country, and other countries in color (exp. “The Searchers”) was an adventure. I will always remember the first movie my father took me to - Walt Disney’s Pinocchio. The color and sound amazed me. You may be irritated by overly long exterior landscape shots. When originally shown they made a strong impact on audiences.
i can assure you i was not irritated by the overly long exterior landscape shots, they were beautiful. I can only imagine how difficult film making was back in those days, if i was a film maker i wouldn't want to cut a single beautiful frame out of what i shot
hahahaa i see where you coming from now that i look at it, it is a shot from Sound of Music tho. Little Women is brilliant I really liked the 2019 version (it is the only one i've seen), might do a video on it later down the track!

Ikr! I grew up knowing some of the songs but never actually properly watched the movie, so glad I got around to it!

You are absolutely right, choreographing character movement and blocking can add so much to a scene if done well

Thank you so much! hahaha that really means a lot coming from a viewer honestly, maybe one day I will get there!

Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed the analysis.
