It benefits little ones to have a good relationship with the family protector, especially in the wild. I just love seeing how tender and sweet and curious these strong, massive animals are with the babies, and how the protective Mama watches over everything and sometimes moves the baby away from Dad.
Such a impressive species. The father would have had a big job in the wild taking care of his family. Having to know where and when a thousand different foods are ripe and ready to eat. Having a map in his head and genes. Protecting everyone. It's painful to see them locked up in a tiny space that never changes. No fulfillment of instincts, no challenges or things of interest except when they're thrown food. Some playtime is the only thing they have left. I love them and wish there was a better way than this.
What a magnificent silver back. It makes me sad though to see him just sitting up against a concrete wall. Would just be nice if they could be in the wild.

The mother is pretty much on point with watching the kido. Ready at a moments notice to throw hands if needed. Like any other mother on the planet would.
