Bookmark this page so we could see if weather tech lowers their prices when the tariffs go into effect. Or if David raises his prices to match the imports.
Wonder which campaign he donated to
Exactly what I said out loud! We know who he's supporting. 🤦🏽♀️
Didn't American made washing machines go up after tariffs were added to foreign made washing machines?
Still not buying anything from weather tech... Way too dang expensive.
Weather tech products are too expensive.
But they are really good products.
Thanks Trump. You make us sick. Love Canada
figures you'd be arrogant enough to say "us"
trust me "we" don't think any better of Trudeau lovers. Go starve more truckers
We do not care. You are welcome. You will back down quickly as soon as Trudeau gets his nails done.
You can't think for yourselves so xi does the thinking for you through trudeau. Like Mexico y'all smile in our faces while stabbing us in the back
This is BS. He sounds like a Trumpian echo chamber. We will ALL be hurt by the tariffs.
The time to enact tariffs is before foreign competition destroys your manufacturing base, not after.
Have you guys heard of debt spiral? Focus on it, do not let MMT (theory) destroy your family and country!
As soon as the tarrifs affect his bottom line he will pass those costs on to his customers by raising the price of his products
One reason I will NEVER purchase anything from weather tech.
I don't know why everybody wants to buy Chinese Goods when they're made by a communist country everybody complains about the Communists but they want to buy their goods and build a country up that hates us and is Communists I never could understand why any country that calls herself for Freedom would ever buy from a communist country and build up that country it's nothing but stupidity I think the United States ought to have 10 years to start manufacturing everything that it needs starting with 10% per year and at the end of 10 years if we don't make it you don't get it if we can't make shoes then you'll have to go barefoot if we can't make clothes and I guess you'll have to go nude if we can't get make cars and I guess you'll have to walk then we would have a country that has a manufacturing base and we would actually be able to have good jobs for every American who gives a s*** about all these other countries and building them up making them communist countries better than our own Bill Clinton should be considered a traitor for signing the NAFTA agreement and allowing our jobs to go overseas in the first place we have nothing but a bunch of traitors in our government and that's why we're in this situation we're in
I was going to for the inlaws new vehicle this week. But thats a hard no now.
Yeap garbage. There is better competition out there.
WeatherTech is the best when it comes to protecting your floorboards. This CEO is business minded therefore he doesn't suffer from TDS
Why?
Well. Canada. Boycott weather Tech.
How does one get to be the CEO of a company without having the first clue about how economics work? This man needs to go back to college. There are no winners in a trade war.
He said prices can go down if the other countries dont retaliate which they will. And what about Canada, we have the same if not better working conditions.
If you don’t think they aren’t going to retaliate you’re crazy
That’s the last time I buy your products.
Oh boy he sure is just another rich guy saying what his rich guy wants people to hear
there is trade imbalance, tariff will balance that and that helps in the long term; this is the gist of it and the expert is not even saying that!
@@Shawn-pr6rk exactly how could anyone care what Rich folks say?
He's fine with it because it benefits his company... For now. When the retaliation comes he'll be complaining like everyone else. There's no winners in a trade war
Do I understand right, now, it is not tariff, but ask president to issue a law to block product from outside US and buy only US product, that will be way too expensive.
Clearly a Trump supporter.
Walmart has an ENTIRELY different opinion.
So exactly how are you going to build and staff those brand new factories in a short period of time when there are hiring signs still hanging all over store front windows, and a shortage of construction workers, which will be exacerbated when we startsending those darn illegal workers back to the countries that they came from?
I got it, this is a war against American companies multi nationals to return to USA investment…. For that to happens the American consumer will suffer. The question how long?
If i was a democrat supporter, i would hang my head in shame, for being played as a chump with my donations.
Ok so the WeatherTech CEO wants me to buy American made products that’s going to cost me 3X more. No thank you if I do the math with the tariffs that Trump is going to impose on his first day in office it will still be a lot cheaper to buy non American made products and Amazon employees will have job security! Win win for the hard working middle class workers!
Buy chinese.
@@ElIbroDelos5anillosStill comes through amazon❤👍
Tariffs helps this guy. It makes it harder for foreign made similar like products which are cheaper.
So CEO , the tariff tax money goes directly to your employees, ya right
"We make ultra quality product here in america". dude needs to look outside: Ford, Chevy and Boeing. There is no quality here, its all about profit over consumer satisfaction in US.
he never mentioned vehicles, are you implying China makes a better Weathertec?
Why more Airbuses are sold as Boeing ?
@@TheEnd-eg6wq He did not mention that in context of weathertec he mention it as general American production
@@PtYt24 So whats the point, are you implying China or Mexico builds superior goods?
Wow. That was straight up propaganda. I can hear the talking points roll off his tongue and the 'new anchor' was feeding him opportunities to do so. Dump Trump to save America.
there is trade imbalance, tariff will balance that and that helps in the long term; this is the gist of it and the expert is not even saying that!
Too late hoss
@@hunglukenguyen This guy is talking about the resonable tariffs that has always existed and that nations alway cooperate and compromise about. It is also the reason to why e.g. European nations put tariffs on US goods: Because US made products doesn’t fulfill environmental, safety, subsidizing, labour, etc. standars of Europe. Still Trump and his viters whine because he doesn’t get that.
But this guy (any you) also doesn’t get that the Tariffs Trump has promises are extremely different. To a large extent they aren’t even about trade, but as a weapon to force nations to sway their political agendas.
Also “disclosure” of where a product is made is quite silly. Where the final assemblage is done won’t inform you much. Parts, tooling and natural resources may still be imported. Plus overseas (or legal and illegal migrant) labour may contribute to certain aspects.
Has this guy even checked things like where the metal in spare parts for his tooling originates from? Doesn’t he get that tariffs experts now are looking at him and saying “how can we punish a Trump supporter like him specifically”. He might not even be able to get needed spare parts after tariffs and retaliatory measures. So he better urgently analyze what things he needs that originates from other nations or are produced with labour that is now to be deported. And that he calculates how much of this he needs for the next four years. And then find alternative sources or buys as much as he needs for the four next years. Although with a diminishing demand when his products now are used in the assembly of products that are partly imported (he should look inte that) and for a diminishing export (he should similarly calculate that).
A trade war is really like a modern war in certain aspects: You disturb the logistical chain so “those at the front line” can get the stuff they need to function properly. And Trump has absolutely no clue how this works and what retaliatory measures he would need to take on the retaliatory measures the tariffed nations take. He has no plan… he’s just a toddler trowing mud at the adults.
The experts are telling the facts: These tariffs won’t help the imbalance for many reasons. The American corporations have informed you why they won’t return manufacturing to the US even with these tariffs. And those are only some of the reasons. Trade war will be destructive especially for the US. Even if there’s a trade balance, the US-thanks to being the carrier of the international trade currency-makes gain on essentially all trade! The gain may possibly stay with the 1%. But that is the voters who continue to vote for the failed “trickle down” economy’s fault (i.e. those who vote Republican) and who want the gains to remain in the hands of the richest (I’m sure this guy have invested so he’s getting some of those gains). Instead, when the US enforces these kinds of tariffs it weakens the standing (perhaps not the value) the $ has as the international trade currency. And that is anything but good for the US economy!
If Trump enforces these tariffs and keep them in place until he has gotten what he wanted from the global community (won’t ever happen, because his wants are unrealistic)-and deports the millions of undocumented workers that provide labour (they don’t steal Americans jobs, because it’s essentially impossible in a free market capitalist nation to reach a lower unemployment rate than the current one, other than temporarily), taxes, consumption, etc.-it will be another great recession. He might however claim “success” even if he hasn’t had any and remove the tariffs when he experience “this isn’t going well”. His followers are too uninformed to understand that the “success” actually was a defeat.
When tariffs come into play, there are always winners and losers among the producers. Of course, the winners under a tariff will support it. Canadian dairy farmers are no different than the CEO of WeatherTech. Consumers, however, are always losers. Think about that.
Can't wait to no longer afford food
That is if you can get food.

I have weathertech. They’re crap 😂
HUH? I'M stuck paying higher prices and you reasoning with us?
What's he talking about? We need more jobs? We got more job openings in the country than people who want them or will do them.
wrong, there is a lot of low paying jobs and some jobs are fake postings, search on this you will see the fake jobs (just there to get perfect candidates, job posts does not mean always a job is ready)
The tariffs are not a bad thing for you.
I’ve bought from your business and the customer service experience was abysmal.
Take trump to prison already
Take YOU to prison, already
you already lost
cry harder
You LOSER😂😂
It’s reasonable to seal the border
1:04 EPA, OSHA and ‘labor laws’ are set to be deregulated and dismantled…what of your argument, then?
Protectionist policies only help in the short term. Look at Harley Davidson - they could never compete but enjoyed protection from imports and still had many bankruptcies and government bailouts and then finally closed Us factories and moved production overseas. US manufacturing has to compete and be better to win in the long run - competition makes everyone better and benefits all. US workers can do it, but we loose if we have artificial advantages
This guy is FOS
The last trade war was wild
How is this Guy still in Business
So he said he's American made well what happens if his machines break where does his get his parts from
Pipe dream.😝
TRUMP WILL POCKET tartiff money👎
Honest question. He says Weather Tech will actuall be able to lower prices, but is that because the industry has high profit margins? Consumers only enter the floor mat market every once in a while. What about the everyday industries where profit margins are razor thin and competition is fierce?
His theory is that, if he is able to sell more (due to to the import taxes), they could open up more manufacturing capacity/facilities. That, in turn, allows him to produce at a higher scale, which *could* reduce his costs and lower their prices. However, WeatherTech is a private firm, so their P/L numbers are probably private.
But if profit margins are razor thin, it's hard to imagine American firms being able to compete on price alone.
fwiw: If I can afford it, and the quality is there, I don't mind paying a little more for American goods. It means meaningful work for fellow Americans, who are usually working in better conditions than most foreign factories. This also means they are less likely to be on public assistance, so it is a win-win situation.
@cfountain72 appreciate the reply. Insightful. Here's another honest question. Is he really going to lower prices though? Why not raise prices to just below the imported floor mat that has a tariff on it? Seems like good business and inflationary at the same time.
And I am with you on the fwiw you posted, for sure
@@coreybutler1975 That is a good question for them to answer. I would like to think that companies don't always charge the absolute maximum they think they can. As the CEO, that would be for him and his team to decide. He may have other variables to contemplate. For instance, as a Trump supporter, he may want to try to lower prices just to help prove him right ("See, we can have tariffs and lower prices too!")
But from a macroeconomic perspective, it is easy to imagine a situation where imports prices go up and, due to supply and demand, American-made goods follow suit. The video highlights an example of that happening last time.
Haha interview backfired!
How so? The interviewer gave him some mildly challenging questions. The CEO responded with his experience and opinions. And the viewer can take that information, weigh it, and decide accordingly. Seemed productive to me.
@ it’s obvious they were expecting him to speak negatively about tariffs

100 bucks for plastic mats.. not buying. Now, with tariffs. Won’t look into it.. buy it at Temu..
As an analyst, trained in economics, i can say that this guest is ill qualified to speak on this issue. His conclusions don't adress the questions at all. The trump tariffs will have a negative impact and will lead to noticeable inflationary pressures almost immediately.
there is trade imbalance, tariff will balance that and that helps in the long term; this is the gist of it and the expert is not even saying that!
@hunglukenguyen A trade balance and tariffs should not to be associated. While there are residual effects on trade balances, tariffs are designed to affect domestic consumption. Trade balances are a reflection of demand and do not reflect value that is ultimately gained. For example, an attempt to zero out a trade deficit with a much poorer country would actually be counter productive.
