    But Brad's guitar playing saved Aerosmith. Joe Perry was so messed up at times that Whitford would cover his ass. Brad needs more credit sometimes.

      @@devenpawar9511 That and Kings and Queens also. Whitford put in some of the best solos and guitar overall on Rocks, for sure. Great tone always, and plays a bit slower and distinctly. Whitford is just not up for the showmanship bit, but he is always in the mix.

      @mikecooper8462 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can also tell the difference between the two guitarists on some of their albums. Brad's solos are more melodic and flowing. And not to take away from Joe's style of playing, but Brad did attend music school. Berkeley I believe it was.

      - Nobody's Fault
      - Kings And Queens (?)

    Brad Whitford was always the coolest one in the band. And so underrated and overshadowed. (half the leads you think were Joe? were probably him)

    • @ThomasDeLello
      @ThomasDeLello 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Steven's close friend from Yonkers, Ray Tabano was their original rhythm guitarist but the Boston guys must have booted him for Brad. That was before their first record album. I knew Ray too, he was a "wise guy" if you know what I mean. Ray carried on with them as a road manager and maybe with some other duties if you know what I mean again.

    always viewed aerosmith as a band,not backup to tyler.each one is a valuable member that never could be replaced.they all compliment each other,which shows in their music and stage shows.from brad to tom,it wouldn't be the same without original 5

    Perry is passionate about making music, he always has been. At least from listening to him I get a feeling that he's loyal to those he's worked with and doesn't come off as wanting to wash dirty laundry to make headlines. This band never disappoints when they perform no matter when, where or what age, they give you a show to remember forever.

    Joe and Steve may be the brain and the heart of Aerosmith, but these three gentlemen are the entire body of the band. They share a certain modest professionalism, and honestly it makes them the three coolest cats in the band. Says a lot that the band have stuck to this formation for the most part of their career. About being good musicians and good bandmates as well.

      I totally agree, specialy when i began to watch their live videos, brad is one of the best out there. He has more discipline, while joe is more like a wild beast (But I still love it). Would love to see Brad with the Hendrix experience someday, live.

    • @paomachin
      @paomachin 9 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Joe has said many times that he considers Brad is a better guitar player than him. And he is in many ways, more technical, more centered, doesn´t sound so rough. But the thing is the stage presence Joe has and the chemistry he and Steven have cannot be replaced by anyone. Sometimes, Brad doesn´t even move from his spot the whole concert. The feedback Joe gets from the audience is a lot more than Brad´s because of this, he kicks ass on stage! All the other guys in the band considers him as the true rockstar, the coolest of all of them.

      Joe Perry has got an instinctive way of playing and composing, his guitar style is fiery, even though Brad Whitford could technically be good, Joe Perry fuels the fire of Aerosmith on the stage and on the records as well, Brad balances it perfectly with his skills and sound though

    In my opinion, Aerosmith was best up to 1979. They weren't affected by pop music. When they got back together, their music became diluted for mass consumption. The album "Rocks" is a classic.

    I remember as a kid how Perry-Tyler took the rap of being Richards-Jagger knock-offs. As the decades move in, the similarities are even stronger to me, though not in a derogatory sense. Aerosmith is every bit as original as the Stones and I might add more creatively innovative on the back-end of their career. But just like Richards, Perry is the no-nonsense soul of the band who keeps the rhythm and blues flame alive. Whereas the respective frontmen float through different venues i.e. they're sort of more loyal to their narcissism than to their roots. Maybe too there is a trace of envy in the dudes 'chained' to their guitars. In the end they're all smart enough to realize their bread and butter is tied to each other. They develop a mature and maybe begrudging respect for their professional co-dependency.

    Joe makes a good point that being the front man, the face of the band, makes that person the focal point. I can understand the frustration there. Personally I was always more about the guitarist's than the vocalist. I just love guitar, that's why I started playing.

    NOBODY thinks the lead singer makes the band-ANY band. Its,the media, the media HYPE that creates these illusions, or should I say DElusions. Back in the 60s and 70s there was no MTV to glamorous a band or particular members of a band. All the fans had were the concerts and album covers. Playing an L.P. meant LISTENING to the MUSIC; the base guitar, rhythm, and lead and the drums. We, in our heads, created our own visuals. And when the beat, the music, the riffs were awesome, we surely were NOT picturing the lead singer in our heads. Media created. All media created.

      The singer is certainly important and in the beginning Steven was hungry and the most experienced because he's a multi instrumentalist besides a singer. Yeah media hype plays a role...still does and they don't talk much about the dysfunction but it's certainly there. I've never read a band biography that didn't have that going on. Some survive it and a great deal do not. Aerosmith was one of the blessed few.

    I'm from Yonkers. I remember the day in 1967. I was at the Tallerico house with Steven. We were down there in the basement where Victor's grand piano was. I picked up one of Joe's guitars. It was a Gibson SG. Steven got pissed and threw me out of the house. I shouldn't have done that.

    • @ThomasDeLello
      @ThomasDeLello 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      +Paola Mach - No... they became Aerosmith in 1970, but that was up in Boston. They were "The Chain Reaction" before that time and Tom Hamilton was with them then too. I saw them perform locally in Yonkers in the 1960's at the Parkway Casino and at a Synagogue just west of RHS ( Roosevelt High School ) Tuckahoe Rd. Steven also played the Yonkers Bowl Lounge with Ray Tabano's band "The Dantes" with Ricky Holznan on drums and Ray on bass guitar. Before his union with Hammilton and Perry, Steven was with the "Strangeurs" with Don Soloman who was also with the Chain Reaction. Aerosmith today is the longest existing band with all of it's original members now that they've beat out Booker T and the MG's.

    Brad doesn't look old, he just has the least most of Botox and plastic surgery, and maybe didn't get stupid hair loss surgery like most men over 35 get. There's nothing wrong with growing old gracefully and not freaking out. Most men who try to look really young are demented and perverted anyway, usually dating little girls in their 20's and pretending their younger what they are.

    Why are these 3 dependable and professional Rock Stars treated by Steven and Joe like they were 2nd class heroes? They are the steady beat in the back of the shadows. Joe Perry And Steven are hungry spotlight stealers. Steven and Joe never acknowledge them on stage and don't look them in the eye. I think that is so wrong and unfair. Without this background beat, Aerosmith wouldn't survive. They are taken for granted. Don't do that Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. They are just as much if not more important than the two of you!!

    There is no such thing as Aerosmith, Joey is real, as is Tom and Brad, Steven and Joe, without these 5 guys, there is a no name band with noise, With these five dudes, And these 5 ONLY! We have Aerosmith, period.

    Not comparing the Bangles with Aerosmith whatsoever, but their managers wanted Suzanna Hoffs to be the lead singer and the rest of the girls just to be her back up band. The rest of the band also sang and wrote and were as talented as Hoffs. Eventually broke up that band. These things happen when one person in the band gets all the attention. Not every band can be The Rolling Stones and stay together so long.

    Of course you can send positive ions (energy to anyone or anything in the universe. The great ones have taught this for millenia. Have you never been thinking about someone you haven't talked to in a month, picked up the phone to call, only to have them call you? Have you never had Deja Vu? Are you not aware of the numerous scientific studies done on the subject of telepathy and psychokinesis. Did you know that Qigong masters can move objects simply by thinking about them?

      I agree with you but wish they let Brad take more solos. Keith let Mick T play most of the solos when he was in the band.

    Saw a interview with Tom and Joey.
    One question was about who has the best relationship in the band.
    They said Joe and Brad.
    Said they never argued Iver who plays leads or where they played their part if leads when both did them.
    Tom said Brad was the one that could play different ways, change the sound if the band.
    After about 20 Aerowsmith concerts I would say Brad is the better player, Joe has come a long way, and is the show man.

    Joe proved he wasn't legit when he agreed to let corporate pop clowns like Child and Vallance co-write songs for the band. Made a ton of money on those records but sold his rock and roll soul in the process.

      Well, Steven and Joe weren´t happy with that at all. It was very hard for them to accept the fact that Geffen wouldn´t release another record if they refused to collaborate with other songwriters.

    anyone who has picked up a guitar and taught themselves a lick or 2 by ear, or took a few lessons, knows fully just how talented the band is, as compared to Steven Tyler's frontman talent. the band and Steven stand on even ground. Joe and Steven stand on even ground. they're doing ok and good without original drummer lately on tour, but they could not afford to lose another original member. Period. or they'd become another Deep Purple minus Ritchie Blackmore and Ian Gillian. or Lynyrd Skynyrd a cover band of their former self without Rossington, Collins, Van Zant.
