I went to Wrigley once as a kid. Been meaning to get there again for a while now that I'm older and can appreciate everything more. Have been to a few random MLB games and there is nothing like being at a competitive MLB game in person. It's truly an amazing experience!!
My grandmother was always confused by baseball games on TV, and all the various cuts between close up camera angles, to say nothing of instant replays (she couldn't really hear the commentators). However, in person she could see the whole field and what everyone was doing and she enjoyed it much more. (That her grandchild was playing didn't hurt either.)
@@Fly-The-W Until you've seen a game from box seats/field level, you'll never get the same taste of REAL baseball skill - the ease w/ which players field a screaming line drive and toss it to 1st and make it look so easy - tv does not do justice to MLB... YOU'VE GOTTA SEE AND HEAR the ball being blasted 450 feet or hear the leather slapping from a 100 mph fastball = such skill cannot be truly noticed on tv

I'm not an overly patriotic person, but when we're able to share parts of our American culture that are really good and fulfilling and others around the world enjoy it, it makes me feel proud. Can't wait to see this, hope you make it to the NFL games this year and make a trip over for a college tour next year.

Having been a Cardinals fan for most of my 70 years, I am glad you got to see one of the oldest rivalries in MLB. This is the first year in a very long time that the Cardinals have had a losing season. Too bad you did not get to see this rivalry last year which featured two future Hall of Fame players: Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina. They both retired last year. When I attended my first game, I got to see the legendary Stan Musial play. Thank you for sharing this experience with us.
Damo and Nick, it’s great to see you taking in a Major League Baseball game. Impressive crowd. One never knows what’s in store - these many years later I still laugh at myself for a last minute decision to go bowling instead of Anaheim Stadium the night Nolan Ryan ended up pitching a no hitter - but any live ball game is an experience to remember regardless of score/outcome. I was unexpectedly moved by this scene - 1:55 . It’s not just that my paternal grandfather was a native of Tottenham (who emigrated to the US, alone, at age 17 not many years before the outbreak of the Great War) or the more or less shared language, that I have felt a lifelong kinship and interest in England. There are many positive characteristics and values that the nations share and I’m grateful for the centuries of relative harmony and peace between them. Once again, thank you for contributions to TH-cam!

Wow. Well done. This was great. Glad you got to experience it. Theres nothing else like it. I've been to 10 different ballparks, past and present. Including Connie Mack Stadium, Veterans Stadium, and Citizens Bank Park -- all in Philadelphia. Plus, old Yankee Stadium, Forbes Field, Pittsburg, and RFK Stadium,Washington DC. And, Toronto -- and all 5 California baseball stadiums. I follow the games intensely and it's been exciting to accompany you on your journey. Keep up the good work.
2 of the oldest clubs in the league. Great choice of teams to send to London! You will have to come to the states some time to see a game! As a Bills fan I would love to tailgate with you guys at a Bills game. I don't live close enough for NBA or MLB. Hockey would be enjoyable as well, but nothing beats the NFL/college football game day experience

That was a fun game to be at - I traveled from the Chicago area to be at the game, and spent 2.5 weeks in England, including 9 days/nights in London! I was in the upper deck behind 3rd base for game 1, and in the outfield behind the Cubs bullpen for game 2. Later on in the trip, I took the same Southeastern high-speed train from London to spend a day in Canterbury!
A ballgame is an excellent night out with friends or a family. A good place to take a date. You can talk, fall in and out of the game, see a great play, and go back to a conversation. And yes, the in-between inning stuff is fun.

Wait til you can make it to a game in the U.S. during the weekday where they have the fun nights, like dollar dog nights ($1 hot dogs), mini Batting Helmet nights, or some places have actual dog nights, and you can bring your pooch with you. It's a lot of fun.

That's really cool that you guys were able to go to a game. Your stadium looked really nice. I'm not sure if that was Wembley or another stadium but i hope you guys had fun. The thing about baseball games - to me at least - is that the vibe and the experience of being surrounded by fans all rooting for the home team is what makes it so fun (for regular season games) - so i'm not sure if that was lacking a bit? Although it looked like there were some Cubs fans around you. As far as the visuals - nothing can beat your TV at home - but again - you go mainly to be surrounded by others' all rooting for your team. Glad you went and i love these videos that take you guys on your own adventures - i would watch any of them. thanks for posting this one.

I am glad you enjoyed the game. When I saw a game in person I was overwhelmed by the colors after watching it in black and white on the television. The green grass and colorful uniforms were great to see.

MLB needs to make the London, Tokyo and Mexico City games sister cities for the home team. That way, they can make millions on jersey sales etc, but also give the host stadium fans the real experience, where they have a hero and a villain.

I love seeing you guys enjoying my favorite sport. It's even more than that for me. Most of my early memories involve baseball one way or another. My dad and most of my uncles were baseball coaches; and I along with my brother and most of my cousins were baseball (or softball) players from little league up through high school. Not to mention the untold hours played in the backyard or whatever sandlot we could find. And, of course, playing catch with dad until the sun went down like so many other American kids.

Now you need to go to a stadium in the US to watch a game. MLB stadiums are like carnivals, they're a whole experience outside of the game. It's like thinking you saw a true Premier League match by watching a friendly played in the US.
With the number of videos that you have watched I would think you had a pretty good understanding of what was going on down on the field. Did you get a sense that most of the crowd was fairly knowledgeable or did most of them seem lost, trying to figure out what was happening? I hope that everyone that attended enjoyed the experience.
Loved the whole day! We spoke with two Americans in front of us, who helped us out with a few bits, but Nick was schooling a couple sitting to his right who didn’t know too much. Seemed to be a blend but we followed the game well
Just spent about 15 minutes hunting for myself at 4:15 - there's a green blur next to a blue blur just to the left of the bobby moore sign and down a couple of rows, I think that's me and my mum lmao - glad you had a great time as well, it was such a blast!

You boys didn't just GO to your first MLB game, you PREPARED to go to your first MLB game. A tip o' the cap to you. I did NOT prepare for my first game. I was with a group of about a dozen boy scouts sitting waaaaaay up high in the "nose bleed" seats at Dodger Stadium. Still remember it though. Scout leader tried to teach us how to keep score on the game program. Yeah. Never did figure that out until years later when my best friend's dad took us to a game. He was a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge. My brothers and I took our dad to his first MLB game not long before he passed away. Funny how the game ties all kinds of memories together. Memories you keep forever. Thanks for this.

If you could get an MLB level teams in your country, what would be a more enjoyable match; the Birmingham Bombers vs the Manchester Penny-Farthings, or the London Big Smokes vs Paris City Lights?
I am happy you made it to the game, and hoped it lived up to your expectations (even if the score was low...sometimes the best games are 1-0.)
I'm glad you two didn't go to the 2019 series. The insane amount of scoring in those two games was not an accurate representation of what you'd see in a typical game. Blowouts happen (i.e. the game you guys attended), but not the extent of what we saw in those.

Me personally love to go to workday Summer game. Nothing beats beer, small cheval burger at Wrigley after work at 7 pm. The weather, the sunset, it's perfect.

Watching baseball on TV is fun, but there's something special about seeing a live game. A sunny day with your seats in the shade, 78 degrees, and the umpire saying Play Ball may be one of those perfect moments in life.

Baseball games are long and not always entertaining but they are very strategic all the way through. The atmosphere of the fans makes a huge difference. I would not have a great love of Premier League Football without actually experiencing it. Even more so when I visited the stadium of my team to watch a game. Sussex by the Sea for me. I will be there soon for the new season.

I remember the London stadium drew some criticism as being particularly small, making it easier to hit home runs. It was definitely better than the Mexico series, however. Coors Field in Denver is typically one of the best hitters' parks in MLB due to the thin air at a mile of elevation (about 1.6km); the fences are further back than most parks, and they store the baseballs in a humidor so they don't dry out and *really* launch, but the effect is still noticeable. Well, the stadium in Mexico City was smaller than Coors, with no humidor, and a half-mile higher (elevation around 2.5 km). There were like 11 home runs in game one alone!
