Looking good Jesse! You could put many different options in there . I currently have an open tank and still can’t decide what I want in it. I plan on going to a LFS soon and will just walk around and see what catches my eye.
You could do green barbs or pea puffers? 😍 male endlers are also really colorful but not different like what you’re wanting. I like pretty basic fish 😁
This is a cool video. I am ignorant when it comes to this hobby. I think it would be cool to get a tank someday. I assume based on what you said, that there is a gardening/plant growing component to this and that peaked my interest. New subscriber here! Be well. - Colin
Yes sir! Organic soil 1 inch thick or so capped with 2-3 inches of sand, the sand makes a seal so the soil cannot leach into the water column, and helps to lock in the nutrients of the soil helping it to last longer which feeds the plants, u want alot of plants as they ate going to be tour filter, add oxygen and remove ammonia, nitrite, and nitrates from the aquarium! Thanks for watching!
I am definitely going to push for killifish! There are TONS of wonderful, non- annual killifish. But you could go with annual killifish, too! The thing I love the most about killifish, is their colors are completely natural. They are not from manipulation of genetics or breeding. It's 100 what happens in the wild! You could always go with the killifish I've got. The Fundulopanchax gardneri killifish or Gardneri killifish. It's spectacular! RAWR! 🦕
All purpose sand from tractor supply, I like how it’s as tiny pebbles in with the sand for a different color and look! It’s really dirty , takes a couple rinses but it’s not near as bad as play sand! Had it cleaned with bucket and hose outside in no time!
Hey Tim! Yes I did stock it I wanted the Germans but couldn’t get any locally so put some fish in it to keep it going for now, e,bert tetras, long fin danio, guppy
Also, deep dirt substrate is great for filtration! I would say that was happy accident. I’m starting to adopt the walstad and father fish method. My tank cycled rather quickly because of this method. Heavily plant your tank and you can definitely add more fish. I know it’s not good to overstock the tank, but with food filtration and lots of plants, my water quality has never looked better. Great channel and content. Happy fish keeping to you ❤
Here is a suggestion for some fish. The Empire Gudgeon check out the colors on these guys th-cam.com/users/shortsoWF41Hc7_pU?si=HP67pFmoM9UIOaOB And they are hard to find. Or even some peacock Gudgeons both would look great and do well

That's what I figured doing , go there then decide, it's best way, thanks for watching
I think it looks great! So many options. I agree the 20 long is a great all around sized tank
Thank you! Thanks for your input!

I ended up putting guppies, ember tetras, long fin danios in!
I love those types of fish! You’ll have to show the tank now that it’s stocked!
Should work perfectly . Looks great. Been using unwashed creek sand in some of my tanks it's basically dirt. Plants grow great and it's free
Absolutely! Father fish style ! Lots of people doing that now! Thanks for the kind words !
Great update Salient. Can't wait to see what you decide to stock it with.
Thanks!

I was not aware about their coloring! Thanks for teaching me something! They are a great looking fish! Thanks for watching!
What about different kinds of shrimp? Something with long antennas. I don't know much about them, though. I just think they're cool looking.
I was thinking about shrimp!
Great looking tank - What's the name of the sand you used???

@@TheSalient1 thanks 🙏🏼
Get some panda Garras
Those would be fun!
Have you stock this tank?
Maybe a smaller cichlid like German blue rams, kribense, etc.
Hey Tim! Yes I did stock it I wanted the Germans but couldn’t get any locally so put some fish in it to keep it going for now, e,bert tetras, long fin danio, guppy
A few different species of nano schooling fish would look great in there
I went with long fin danios, few guppies, and 6 ember tetras!
@@TheSalient1 I just got some ember tetras to add to my neon tetras tank. I love them!
