This is a Masterpiece. The song, the production, everything is so great. To hear Hansi singing german was a little bit unusual to me, but it sounds so great. thanks for the reaction. 😎🤘
I know right, it was awesome on all fronts. Thank you for watching.
Yes, Alea has a great voice
I agree 100% thank you for watching.
These types of videos are definitely not cheap to produce, but as far as I know the costumes in this music video were made by many talented fans and cosplayers. The Orcs are also a German cosplayer/LARP group who have agreed to help out in this video 🙂
Greetings from Germany 🤘
Hallo! Thank you for sharing. The costumes are amazing!
@@MattsMoshPit1Yep, I think that most of the extras in the videos brought their own costumes.
That is awesome
Hell of a song, hell of a video, hell of a reaction 🤘🤘🤘👍👍👍
Cheers from Germany to Saltatio Guardian🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much for your support. I’ll be in your beautiful country in November. I can’t wait!
Never mind the pronounciation. Most of us Germans butcher English all of the time, even when we are doing our best! 😅
And your "Finsterwacht" was really well done! It's a tough one with the 'ch'-sound!
Popcorn was most appropriate here, definitely! 🙂
Edit: Saltatio Mortis is the name of the band.
Thank you for confirming my pronunciation. More importantly thank you for watching
Oh we have got many medival markets in germany usually on those you have medival army camps with lots of people who do this as a hobby. And you can see bands like Saltatio Mortis, Feuerschwanz and In Extremo among others. Those events dont usually cost more than 50 euros.
That would be awesome to see. If I lived in Germany, I would definitely go to some of those events. I’ll be in Germany for the Christmas markets this year, but I assume everything you are describing are geared more towards the spring and summer. Thank you for watching
@@MattsMoshPit1there are also medieval wintermarkets, not many but there are some
@@MattsMoshPit1 If you are in Dortmund around Christmas Time, there is a large medieval christmas market, worth visiting. Check out the time tables, there are many different bands at various days there, including Saltatio Mortis and Feuerschwanz
I will definitely look for them.
I will primarily be in Munich, but also hitting Nurenburg and Rothenburg Ob Tauber.
That moment when you realize "I need popcorn" and one moment later forget to actually eat it XD
lol, I had a few bites, but I wasn’t sure if it would too much if I ate the whole time. I can say that the popcorn was finished while editing. Thank you for watching my friend.
Nice one mate..
Can I recommend "FAUN & ELUVEITIE - GWYDION", german Pagan Folk meets Swiss Folk Metal...
MASTERPIECE for sure...
Stay safe and greetz from Germany
One Song from the Upcoming Album are with FAUN and another with Peyton Parrish
Hallo! Thank you for your suggestion. I love everything I have heard from Eluveitie. I will check out anything they do. Thank you for watching! I assure you there will be more from Saltatio Mortis and Eluveitie on my channel.
I second that reaction wish. Gwydion is a masterpiece. Faun in general is creating beautiful music which is mostly very uplifting and Eluveitie, i don't have to tell you, you know them. Song is in german and welsh. It's the story of Gwydion, a sorcerer from ancient celtic/ welsh mythologie, summoning the trees to help in to combat a demon. Guess who makes the combat/ demon part. ;)
you´re right, thanks
Thank you! Now I can tell my wife that at least one person agreed with me on something 😀 Thank you for watching my friend
If you liked Saltatio Mortis (it's Latin and means Dance of the dead) and you liked that kind of videos, you have to react (or view by yourself) to Pray for the hunter, My mother told me and Dragonborn comes featuring Lara Loft.
Awesome, thank you I will check them out! I wonder if they picked the name based on one of my favorite Iron Maiden albums?
@@MattsMoshPit1 maby, but the band or better their members have a strong history of playing at the medieval markets and on the streets of Germany before becoming famous. One of the credos of the band is "Those who dance, will never die" The band still has a strong connection with the medieval and the Larp (Live Action Role Play) scene in Germany, they still play on markets and thats also why they can produce such a masterpieces of a video, because the Extras are mainly Larpers who work for free and bring their own costumes. Alea the singer (in the video he was the leader of the pack) is also a trained sword fighter.
I just love Saltatio Mortis and this album seems like it's going to be a banger!
Take a look at the pre-order of this album, it comes with a tabletop game (like Dungeons & Dragons) and I'm hoping the whole album tells parts of the story of that game. And I noticed they have a song featuring Lacuna Coil as well, and I HAVE to hear that ASAP.
There's another amazing song (and a mindblowing performance) I wish you would do .. and I'm dying to see how you butcher this one with confidence "Skálmöld & Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands - Kvaðning (Live)"
lol, I accept the challenge. I know I have a song from them on my list, but I have been afraid to try and say the name. I will do it in honor of you. I definitely need to check out the new Saltatio Mortis album. I love Lacuna Coil. Thank you for sharing.
Their cover of Electric Callboy's Hypa Hypa is my favourite of the alternative versions!
You'll probably also like:
Subway to Sally: Veitstanz (2014 Version) (Live) feat. Saltatio Mortis, Schandmaul, Feuerschwanz, Chris Harms from Lord Of The Lost (not in the video as he was connected via stream), MajorVoice (goth rock solo artist), Patty Gurdy.
th-cam.com/video/bs0DhveZxAY/w-d-xo.html
The original version was released as a promo single for the 2001 album Herzblut (Lifeblood), in 2014 they started doing a 're-imagined' version. This performance was filmed in 2021.
Veitstanz (St. Vitus Dance) is a term for a neurological disease (Sydenham's Chorea) but also referring to a social phenomenon called Tanzwut (literally Dance Rage, English term Dancing Mania), mainly happening during the 14th and the 15th century and mostly in continental Europe. It made groups of people dance erraticly and uncontrollably until they collapsed, some even died from exhaustion. It has never been conclusively clarified what triggered it.
That great information ,thank you. I absolutely need to hear their version of Hypa Hypa.
If you're in the need for a translation or the full lyrics, I'm gladly of support 🤘
Lyrics of “Finsterwacht” = “Darkwatch”
[intro]
Darkness weighs heavily on the land
The looming peaks of the mountains rise ominously into the sky
After all these years it's back, that eerie whisper in the night
What is hidden there in the dark forests?
A storm is coming, it is getting cold on the Dark Ridge
But there is hope
For in the midst of all this gloom, the Guardians of the Watch stand high up on the towers
Day after day, night after night
Ready to defend our families and our country with their lives
When they light their fires, the Goddess has mercy on us
It is the fires of fear that burn there
May the heroism of the Guard shine brighter than the light of the flames
Because they are our last bastion from what lurks for us in the shadows
And our hope there on the Finsterwacht
[Verse 1: Alea]
The flames burn high up
The sky is black and distant
A memorial in the darkness
Every fire is a star
Say goodbye friends
Sing one last song
Sign after sign together into the night
On the Darkwatch
[Verse 2: Hansi Kürsch]
Silent heroes without rest
The looks sharp as steel
United, inspired by the courage to die
Let's stand here one last time
Be vigilant friends
The shadows have awakened
Sign after sign together into the night
[Chorus: Alea & Hansi Kürsch]
And the world is on fire
I want to go through the fire with you
Until our ashes unite for eternity
And the world is on fire
Then we'll see each other again
Beyond here, beyond time
[Instrumental Break]
[Chorus: Alea & Hansi Kürsch]
And the world is on fire
I want to go through the fire with you
Until our ashes unite
For eternity
And the world is on fire
Then we'll see each other again
Beyond here, beyond time
For eternity
[Bridge: Choir, Hansi Kürsch & Alea]
Fires flare up
We are the light in the night
Rondra, hear our choir
Come stand with us, for we are the guard
Friends, be careful (fires blazing)
On the Darkwatch
Be the shield wall at the end of the world (We are the light in the night)
Hold the tower (Rondra, hear our choir)
Also in Orkensturm
Stand together for we are the watch (Come stand with us for we are the watch)
Friends, be careful (fires blazing)
On the Darkwatch
Be the shield wall at the end of the world (We are the light in the night)
Hold the tower (Rondra, hear our choir)
Also in Orkensturm
Stand together for we are the watch (Come stand with us for we are the watch)
[Chorus: Alea & Hansi Kürsch, only Hansi Kürsch]
And the world is on fire
I want to go through the fire with you
Until our ashes unite
Forever (Forever)
And the world is on fire
Then we'll see each other again
Beyond here, beyond time
For eternity
Thank you so much for the translation! More importantly, thank you for watching

Awesome, thank you for sharing my friend
a short reminder: a video ends when it stopped.
That's why you missed the easter egg at the end…
I am sorry, it’s a tough call when it comes to videos you haven’t seen before. If you miss the mark it can lead to a lot more post editing. I try to keep these as natural as possible. I will definitely go back and watch it again in full. Thank you for watching.
@@MattsMoshPit1 some reacters solve this problem in lowering the volume during the credits and start talking, while the video is still running. 😇
The concern is the quick pop up ads that hit immediately after the video. Not too big of a deal it just makes for more editing. I try to avoid editing as much as possible, as I am still learning all of this.
Sugar or Salt with your Popcorn 😅🤟
I don’t typically add anything to my food, but I do prefer salty popcorn over sweet. Then again I do love caramel popcorn. Thank you for watching
I have listened to this a few times now and I'm always thrown off by Hansi singing in German. It's so weird, cause he's obviously German and I've heard him speak German, but I'm not used to the singing at all. Those harmonies he's doing there at the slower part where they're singing around the fire are so good though, and his voice fits really well with Alea. All in all a very epic song. I might be persuaded to get my first Saltatio Mortis album.
Btw this one you did not butcher, if I was a mediaevist I'd correct your Latin, but I'm a 20th century historian so I won't 😂 might be time for some Duolingo German, it seems you got some basics in pronouncing things already
You might have to get the album. The earlier comments mentioned that the pre-order has a version with a game attached. I loved Hansi’s portion of this. I am excited for the new album. It will be my first Saltatio Mortis album as well. Also thank you for your confirmation on my pronunciation. I am working on it. Who knows in a few years I might become more German than just my ancestry. Then again in a few years, I probably still going to butcher the names. I butcher English all the time.
@@MattsMoshPit1 I've lived in Germany ten years and I still butcher the occasional name, just go at your own pace, as long as you keep going 🤘
Even though it’s not music related, I will definitely vlog my trip to Germany at the end of November. It will be full of me butchering everything. It’s funny last time we were in Germany we went to a restaurant and the waitress welcomed us and asked us what we would like to drink. My wife was so used to asking if they spoke English, she asked if she spoke English when the waitress was already speaking English to us. She politely said “ I am speaking English to you”. Not my wife’s proudest moment. I am hoping we do better this next time. When in doubt I will just say Finsterwacht! lol
@@MattsMoshPit1Hahahahahaha that's funny though. Definitely do a vlog, it should be fun.
I will definitely vlog more or at least I want to do more vlogs.
